Description of Work: This review is in response to how Broadripple Service Experts took care of my elderly mother. With this time of year you wouldn’t think there would be much deceptive selling out here. Well, there is… my mother who is a young 87 paid $13,000 for a replacement heating/air system for her 1500s/ft condo. What a surprise at breakfast yesterday morning when my mom said she could have bought a car with what she paid for, her new furnace system. With that statement my wife and I knew something didn’t sound right. I always try to respect my Mom’s wishes but this elderly scam had to be shared so in hopes to avoid another person’s loved one from making a bad decision despite being advised by the so called experts. Advise everyone you care about to always get (3) quotes for any large purchases. There are several good and reputable service people and businesses. But, the bad ones do a great job of befriending the elderly and take their money. I know we all have heard this before but hey, here it is again please watch out for scams and deceptions especially when it’s involving the elderly. I spoke to the GM/Jim at Broadripple Service Experts this morning who told me my mom came in all excited and heard the (3) options given of the Lennox High Efficiency Systems. The last one which I was told she signed and paid for was $13,000. They never mentioned that she could have used a standard efficiency unit and been fine for her very small condo. My mom is a good-natured, happy elderly lady that see’s only the good in people. Yes, she should have gotten (3) quotes or asked for guidance but she didn’t. Heck, even her friend Marshall told her to get a 2nd opinion. My mom sure doesn’t like to hear my advice even thou I’m only trying to watch out for her best interest. I know my mom was upsold and I totally understand a business making an honest profit. But, this was a simple case of a business taking advantage of an elderly person with no knowledge of heating & air conditioners. It was Broadripple Service Experts job to be that expert and do the right thing and give the customer honest choices. The last thing I asked Jim was what would you do if it was your Mom? All she needed was a good standard efficiency unit for her small condo not the best of the best. Nothing, then Jim’s only comment after I said a few expletives was “ we only sell Lennox’s best”. Lennox owns Broadripple Service Experts. Broadripple Service Experts recorded my conversation so hopefully Lennox’s corporate gets the message. If anything comes of this post it’s letting you all know to please watch out for your Mom & Dad and any person that might fall victim to unfair and deceptive business practices.
