They came out the day I called. My water heater was still under warranty so I just paid an installation fee to have a part replaced. I did not have to pay for a new water heater. I will use them again in the future.

What is going on? I have used BR Heating & Cooling for approx 5 years. Originally for annual service tune ups and then most recently for a new Furnace and A/C system. I have had the twice a year tune up program and they always called and sent a card early in the season as a reminder to schedule the service call. This year, nothing in the mail, no phone call, just nothing. With the recent stretch of warmer than normal temperatures, it reminded me that I had not heard from them. I called this morning, June 9th, to schedule the A/C tune up. I was told that the first date they had an opening was August 1st. AUGUST 1st? The summer is all but over at that time. They told me they would check for cancellations and the next offer was the last week of July. I told them that was unacceptable and asked how to cancel the balance of my prepaid service plan. All that the rep could tell me was that she would send an email to the accounting dept. and that I should get a check in 6-8 weeks. I told the rep that I wanted a response within 1 week as to how much and when to expect a refund of the prepaid money. Ever since the are no longer locally owned, the level of service and responsiveness have totally gone away. Very sorry to see this happen and I will not be using them anymore.

It sickens me to hear this type of review as I have worked for Broad Ripple Htg./Service Experts for over 13 yrs. and am now the new Branch Mgr. I couldn't agree with the customer more and I doubt that he gives us a second chance but I would like to assure him and everyone who has had experience with us in the past that we are local and the employees that work here earn their living and reside right here in Marion county. Still waiting to see if I will use them for my regular maintance. I will try one more time tomorrow to see if I can get an answer from billing and get an appt scheduled in a relative soon time.
Description of Work: I don't know what is going on with this company these days. i have used them for probably decades but ever since they become part of a larger corporation the responsiveness had really changed. Last week called to schedule the maintenance of my A/C which i thought I had paid for their warranty service. It appears maybe i had not. Two different attempts of talking to the billing department resulted in the call operator saying they would call me back. No response from call last week or this week. Also tried to schedule the appointment, last week was told it would be end of June but no dispatcher called. Today they said end of July. So later today I get a call from a dispatcher that said they could send someone out. The only problem is (and I had explained this) is my A/C unit is in the attic and I didn't think they would want their technican up their at 5:00 this afternoon. Still haven't heard from billing to get the maintenance warranty sorted out and haven't heard back from dispatch to find out when my appt could be. My A/C needs freon each year - so it is working but it is overworking to cool the house. If I get no satisfactory response tomorrow, I will be searching Anglie's list and finding another vendor. Shame to see this company go so downhill after all the time I have been with them.

The project went well. The two install guys showed up right on time and were prepared to work. I expect the install was a little abnormal as the overall project was already in mid stride. They came in, got to work, and were friendly to boot. They were able to complete all the work in about 4 hrs. Their work was good and I was satisfied with the results. I am a little more particular than some so I may be grading on a tight curve here too. Minor issues...there were a few sheet metal shards left on the basement floor from the job and some of the duct sealant use was a tiny bit sloppy. Overall I would have them back in the future if the need came up.
Description of Work: Broad Ripple Heating came out to our 1938 home and helped set a new American Standard furnace and evaporator coil enclosure that we had purchased elsewhere and also installed a new Lennox whole house filter as part of the system. Services included setting the furnace, reworking some existing return air ducting for better flow, connecting the new AC coil box and furnace to the existing supply plenum with a new sheet metal transition, removing the old duct work and sheet metal and some other debris, and installing the filter box for the new whole house filter.

I have been a customer of Broad Ripple Heating & Air Conditioning for six years but I will NEVER use them again. This service appointment was the worst experience imaginable. I initially called them to set up the regular spring service on our heating & cooling system back in April; the earliest they could schedule the appointment was for May 31 between 4-6 pm. They called around 5:15 pm that day to tell me the service technician was held up at another job and asked me to reschedule. But then they told me that the earliest they could fit me in would be July 11. I asked if there was any way the service person could come after his current appointment and they told me it would be between 9-9:30 pm that evening. I told them to go ahead and have him come even at that late hour. Given the hot streak, I did not want to have to wait until mid July for something I had scheduled back in April. At 7:30 pm, a service technician showed up at our door, unannounced, and came inside to do the inside work, then he went outside to check our heat pump. It was there that he informed me that he wasn't from Broad Ripple Heating & Air Conditioning but one of the affiliates under the "Service Experts" logo. He finished and gave me a copy of the invoice (this had been prepaid back in the fall) that indicated the work he did. While this technician was pleasant, he did not seem particularly experienced and we can only hope that no problems arise due to his inexperience. Immediately after I spoke to the person who had called to reschedule the appointment, and well before the technician arrived, I called and asked to speak to the manager or service manager about what had transpired. I was told that both managers were gone for the day but I was assured that one of them would return my call the first thing the next morning. However, nobody ever returned my call. Broad Ripple Heating & Air Conditioning came highly recommended by someone we trust. We used them to install a brand new, whole house system several years ago. But we will NEVER use them again and would tell anyone considering using them to go elsewhere.

I called to have our air conditioning unit looked at, as it wasn't working properly. After calling 2 other companies that couldn't come out until 2 days later, I was happy that when I called Broadripple Heating Services, they told me that they could get someone out to see me the same day, and that I would be contacted within 2 hours and given a time to expect to see them. 3 hours pass, and I hear nothing. I call, and the girl tells me she will give my information directly to the dispatcher who will call me within 30 minutes. The dispatcher called 1 hour later. She called to tell me that she was sorry they weren't able to get anybody out to see me, and could she put me on the "waiting list" for tomorrow? Nice game they got going there......make you believe you're going to get service the same day, so you don't call anyone else, and then they leave you hanging.....and act like they've done nothing wrong by leaving you hang. When they asked me if I wanted to be on the "waiting list", I said, "No, we've found another company who is actually honest and upfront about their availability, and we'll be doing business with them."

. I am very pleased with them. With their prices we did not feel like that they were trying to take us for a ride. They replaced our furnace a few years ago and they do the cleaning and everything. I have had no problem with any of them. They do good work. Their prices are competitive and I have never felt that I was robbed. I would keep using them in the future.

The service was great but then the nightmare started. A month later (April 25th) we received a "2nd reminder notice" stating that we owed $2000 and that no payment had been received. I immediately called Service Experts billing and explained the situation that: 1) the amount was wrong as clearly indicated on the copy of the invoice the technician completed and left with me; and 2) I had given him my AMEX number that was also clearly written on the invoice. (I did note to the lady in billing that the technician had written the wrong authorization code on the document and gave her the correct code). She said she would get the document, correct them if necessary, and call me if there were any problems. I never heard from her. Today I received a 'FINAL REMINDER NOTICE" again claiming the amount was $2000 and that no payment had been received and threatening to use a collection agency! My Amex card has never been charged. I tried to call billing again but could only get voice mail. This is a ridiculous abuse of a long term (or any) customer. Somebody needs to get their act together.
Description of Work: We have been Service Expert customers for year and they have always been prompt, efficient and courteous. We had 25 year old air ducts that had become rusted and corroded in a crawl space. The initial estimate for repair/replacement was $1-2,000 as the estimator was unsure how much time and effort would be required. On March 8th the servicemen (#2132 and 2134) appeared and completed the work in a few hours. As it was easier than expected the charge was $1000 and I gave the technician my Amex number which he placed on the invoice.

We had to call them back. We did not spend anything because it was a brand new unit that they installed in March. When they came out, they discovered that while they were doing the installation what had come disconnected and all they had to do was to connect it back up. We liked that they were very prompt in taking care of the problem. They came out on the day that they said they would and were here around 6 or 7 in the evening.

Very punctual, very professional. Very tidy. However, the fan ran nonstop. I thought that might be part of the efficiency, but when I realized that when I turned the system off to stop the fan that didn't work either. I called and they came out promptly the next day. The furnace and air conditioner had been incorrectly wired and the air conditioner, not the fan, had been running the entire time. .... We had signed up for their no interest financing for 12 months, and were assured that the price quoted would be the amount financed. The first bill arrived with extra fees we weren't told about. As of today May 16- I am still trying to get through to billing to get the extra fees removed. My past experience with BR Heating as been positive and I will probably use them again, but my trust in them has been seriously eroded.

First of all Village Plumbing, Indianapolis, charges a flat rate - $400.00. The "plumber" got the householder's VERBAL agreement that he would be willing to pay up to $400.00 (a flat rate) for their services. We described what might be wrong, since we had experienced a burning rubber odor and had called the fire department in the middle of the night. The furnaces had been checked out as OK by Service Experts Heating and Cooling. So we called Service Experts Village Plumbing, since Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning recommended them, (A Kick back??"). After checking the sump pump, the"plumber" said the odor did not come from that. Then he replaced the hot and cold washers on the hall bath tub ($248.00!) and a toilet repair ($125.00!) "other discounts???-($89.00), Energy/Materials charge -$5.00, Diagnostic Charge-$89.00. When we asked for an ITEMIZED REPORT of the entire bill, such as service call, labor and materials, the answer was "WE DON'T DO ITEMIZED REPORTS for customers!!!!! ( What kind of a" business" are they running???1111).
Description of Work: We at first thought we had, what Village Plumbing considered, an emergency. When they warned us that there was an emergency fee yesterday, we said to wait and come tomorrow when there was no emergency fee. So a "plumber" came today. First of all Village Plumbing, Indianapolis, charges a flat rate. The plumber got the head of the house's VERBAL AGREEMENTt that he was willing to pay up to $400.00. We described what might be wrong, since we had experienced burning rubber and had called the fire department in the middle of the night. . Service Experts Heating and Cooling came out and OK"d the furnaces. They then gave us a card for Service Experts Village Plumbing, So in good faith we called Service Experts Village Plumbing. They were to stop a leak in a bathtub faucet , repair a leaking toilet, and examine the sump pump for suspected burning rubber odors.

I called another company on Angie's List and they were up front that things are busy (no surprise) and that it may be until Friday or Saturday before a tech comes out. So, my A/C may not be fixed today, but at least I have some honest idea of when to expect service.
Description of Work: I never had the opportunity to use this company. My A/C is not working properly so I placed a call on Wednesday. I was placed on overbook, but was assured that a service tech would be out the day of the call. I called in the early morning. By early evening no one had arrived. I called again and again was assured that a service tech had been given my information and would be out yet that evening. I asked for this assurance to be repeated, which it was. By the time I went to bed Wednesday night, no tech had arrived. I called Thursday morning and was told that I was not on the schedule and that because of high volume that I might not see a tech until Monday -- four days out. Had I been told this up front when I called the first time I would have had the opportunity to call another company. Instead I lost a day and this company lost my business.

Overall, the experience has been okay. We’ve been using their services for years; we knew the original owner. We had them out yesterday when our air conditioning wouldn’t start, but it was a hassle to get them out. They told us they’d be out between 2 and 4, but nobody showed up until 8:30pm. I understand that yesterday was probably the worst day of the year (as it was the first very hot day), but we do have a service agreement with them.

Village Plumbing Service Experts put in the water heater, which is owned by Broad Ripple Heating and Air Conditioning. The same people own them. I made out two different cheques; Village Plumbing took the $2000 cheque for the water heater. They worked on our whole house. They are good with old homes. They are a little expensive when it comes to price. I would use them again in the future.

They have been working for us for years, so I do not have anything bad to say about them except for the fact that they are expensive. I would give them a bad grade for their prices but they are great to work with, which is why we go back to them. There is no problem with their quality of service. It’s hard to say as I didn’t really compare prices for this particular item, I have compared in the past and they were always more expensive. We were without heating system and water heater for the first two weeks when we moved into our house, so we weren’t interested in shopping around for too long.
Description of Work: We used the services of Broad Ripple Heating Service Expert to fix our new heating system for the second floor. The last time we used their services was sometime in the month of March. We paid $16000 for the heating system.

I didn't have them do the work, I called another plumber that has reasonable rates.
Description of Work: Leaky fixture at the bathtub. The technician typed it into his hand held computer, and told me it would be $350 just to remove the handle and diagnosis the drip.

They are really good and responsive. They set up the appointments and I really like them. Their technicians are good. I would recommend them to anybody. I would use their services again in the future.

Previous system had leaks in several places (14 years old). Used Angie's List to find several providers. Chose this provider based upon reported grades and their media advertising over the years. Sales representative was very professional and detailed in his quotation of product and service. Chose Broad Ripple. They installed the system within one week. Installation crew was very prompt, quick, and thorough.

This was the second furnace they have put in for us. It seems like their repairmen are knowledgeable about what they are doing; they don't screw up the job when they do the installation. They are a fine and reputable company. They also do furnace installation for Costco. We haven't had any trouble with them. Our furnace went out in the winter and we weren't put at the bottom of the list and we appreciated that. They installed it the next day. The salesman was knowledgeable and told us about the rebates that were being offered. There were a couple of them that we didn't know about, which was good.
