I was charged $370.00 at the time of service. I gave them a credit card. I then started receiving billing statements. I would call and they would say that it was paid. Then I started receiving letters from collection agencies. I would call and they would say either that they did not send them or that it would be straightened out. This went on for 3 months. In frustration and fear that it would ruin my perfect credit rating, I paid the bill again in August. Still the letters came and now I am being harrassed by actual people from their collection agency. I call and call and most of the time the phone calls are not returned, or they say it is resolved. I do not know what else to do. Maybe you can get their attention.

I think Service Experts tried to rip me off, wanting to charge me $500.00 saying we needed to change out our humidifier. I dropped my service contract with them and have chosen to go with Howald Wall for future heating and a/c service.
Description of Work: They came out to do our semi-annual service call on our heating and a/c system. They also recommended we change out our humidifer and they were scheduled to do the work this week. I was not able to be a part of the service call in September but was present when Howald Wall came out and gave me a second opinion about our humidifier and said everything was running fine, no work needed to be done.

After speaking with Steve on the phone, he came by a few days later to preform the desired work. He remembered that he had been by last year to install a pair of hose bibs. He got right to work and had the new valve installed in no time. Their price book is a bit on the expensive side, but a $50 coupon found on their website helped. It's worth a few extra bucks for quality work.
Description of Work: Replaced pierce valve supplying humidifier with a proper valve.

HOWEVER, that is not the problem. The tech gave us a carbon copy of a hand-written receipt which shows our check number (#4728), but only listing $90.00 under "PLUS Maintenance - investment". The printed receipt he left shows $89.00 paid for that day's service. I discovered this later that evening, when I was about to file these receipts. I phoned on 9/10/11 and spoke to a lady (Lekita - uncertain of spelling). She said they would send a receipt that showed the full payment of $179.00 and that our spring A/C maintenance was prepaid. NO ONE CALLED AND NOTHING ARRIVED IN THE MAIL. We waited several days and phoned again, and were assured the matter would be looked into. STILL NO RESPONSE. Finally, on 10/03/2011, I phoned again. After being transferred the fourth time, Brian answered. I told him the story. He said he would transfer me to "billing", but returned saying they were not answering. He said he would give them the message. I told him to tell them I expected them to return my call that day. STILL NO RESPONSE! Then in our mail on 10/07/11 a BILL ARRIVED FROM SERVICE EXPERTS, SAYING WE OWE THEM $89.00 FOR THEIR SERVICE ON 9/09/11!!!!! I phoned the "Customer Service" number (466-7677) upon opening that bill, got a recorded message, left a message telling them we needed a response that day. Of course, as of today (10/10/2011, 10:24 AM) there has been no return phone call from them. UPDATE 10/18/11: We did finally manage to get someone to call us back, and they sent us a receipt saying that we had paid for the service we received and pre-paid for service in the spring. They finally cleared the check almost a month after we wrote it. We talked with them in their office about the difficulty that we had with their responsiveness. They let us know that they recently relocated and this is why they had so much confusion and unresponsiveness regarding our complaint and the complaints of others. We've always been happy with them since we started using them in the mid-70's. Apparently the shuffling of the organization over the last few months has caused some problems, but they were apologetic and forthright about the the situation. Because of this, we will be giving them another try in the future.
Description of Work: The maintenance service on our furnace went just fine--though it took a little longer than it usually does.

I signed up for a Double Date for the spring, which I used, and fall, which I did not want to use and wanted a refund. I have been trying to since August to talk with someone to see if I could get a refund for the 2nd part of the double date. I would leave messages with no return calls--a complete run around! It is like the "Right Hand" is not knowing what the "Left Hand" is doing! I talked to someone different every time. I cannot recommend this company. When calling, you may be talking to someone in VA, Out West, or where ever! A rating of F!

They recently changed their name from Broad Ripple to Service Experts. I pay once a year. I think that they are pretty good at doing the servicing and then telling you where you stand in terms of your equipment. They try to save us money from time to time. I have just been pleased with how they conduct themselves. They haven’t tried to force us to do anything and haven’t been high pressuring. They gave a three hour window and are there in the early hour of the window. We have used them for a number of years.
Description of Work: Service Experts Heating And Air Conditioning came in a May or June. We have them come out in the spring and in the winter for the seasonal maintenance.

Our sink clogged suddenly, probably due to putting too much stuff down the garbage disposal that wasn't meant to go down. I was very happy with how quickly I could get someone out. I called Village Plumbing's direct line (vs. calling Service Experts' national number which has never been a good experience for me) on Sunday night at 10 PM or so, and asked for a next day appointment (not an emergency call), which they were able to make for 8-10 AM. The person answering the phone was courteous and professional. I received a call about 8:10 AM saying the plumber was on his way. Shaun arrived around 9 AM, assessed the situation and told me it would be $210 to clear the drain as long as it took less than an hour. He did the job in about 1/2 hour and cleaned the sink and surrounding area after he was finished. He was then so kind as to be willing to look at another drain and run the snake through it if it only took a few minutes. Unfortunately, he found something about 5' down the line that he couldn't get through on that one, so we'll just live with the slow drain a while longer. Shawn was neat, hard-working, professional, and informative. I used an Angie's List coupon for $10 off. The only low score I did give was on the price, which seemed high to me. When I mentioned to Shaun my surprise at the rate, he commented that it was standard or maybe even low for the type of job. So I guess I'm criticizing the industry for having rates that rival that of some medical specialists.
Description of Work: Cleared kitchen sink drain with a snake. This took about 1/2 hour overall. $10 off $210 price with Angie's List coupon.

Plumber arrived promptly at beginning of 2 hr window of time given. Quickly assessed the problem (I already expected that 17 yr old disposal needed to be replaced). Replaced garbage disposal. Worked efficiently and quickly. Was done in about 45 minutes and cleaned up after himself.

We are very pleased with the quality, the professionalism and the price. I have only one problem. The technician told us that we could go to the Lennox website and register and get an additional ten year warranty on the equipment. That was a major selling point for the Lennox equipment. However, when I registered I received an e-mail thanking me for choosing Lennox but that the particular model that we bought was not eligible for the extended warranty. No other explanation. I feel like we were mislead. It was probably inadvertent, but it still irritates me.
Description of Work: Our A/C completely failed during the heat wave. Service Experts were called (on a weekend) and a technician responded in a few hours. Unfortunately he found that the unit had undergone a catastrophic failure and would reqire replacement of the entire system, A/C and coil. This was scheduled a couple of days later and installation technicians arrived on time and went right to work. By that afternoon we had the new A/C up and running. Whew!

Provided a quotation for replacing AC coils following a routine annual service call. A day later I contacted their representative to order the replacement work to be performed. Forgot to tell me that a number of their employees handling the business have left to join another firm - which I discovered by finally tracking down the individual. He at least was nice enough to call me back and explain the situation. Still haven't heard from Service Experts.

Not knowing whether or not the aforementioned AC coil was addressed I would be more than willing to prove that things have changed here @ Service Experts/Broad Ripple Htg. & AC and provide consistent service to them as we have for many years. I called them on the 12th at 7:43, I was on the line for 5 min. The service man was supposed to call me back within 30 minutes. 2 ½ hours later I still had not gotten a call back, so I called and canceled the call. They are also not the best priced agency in town. They charge about double for their Freon than the company I used. I don’t think they held up their end by not returning my call.

Had them check heating and air conditioning last seaon and this year. They are excellent and really seem to know what they are doing. Had some trouble with some noise for 5 years and they were able to fix the noise. I was so impressed with that!

This was a routine maintenance to make sure the AC didn't break down during the 90 degree weather. Service Experts is always on time and very professional. They will return in the fall for a furnace tune-up, so this is a good deal. One complaint is that their furnace filters are so expensive. I can buy the same ones on-line for $28 compared to the $80 they charge, but didn't have one on hand when they came. Do yourself a favor and order your filter replacements on-line at filtersfast.com.

We were happy with the service. The service guy sold my husband an expensive filter for our furnace. I am not convinced it was necessary but we'll see if there's a difference as he says there will be. We will have them back soon to do the furnace.

Of course it was a oppressively hot day and our air conditioner was acting up. I called and was told a technician would call me that evening and let me know when he would be arriving. I received a call as explained and the technician arrived promptly and fixed the problem. Very impressive and the cost was extremely reasonable.

Everything went very well and it was a good experience. I was late getting home at the appointed time and they provided me a little bit of grace and didn't just turn around and leave, which impressed me.

Service personnel could not be more professional. Very Positive experience. Very Polite and courteous which was refreshing. Call counselor that took initial request needed training. It didn't go at all since they wouldn't call me.
Description of Work: I am redoing my bathroom. My contractor suggested Broad Ripple Heat and Air. I need to have a vent moved. I called Wed. June 15. I used 6 different phone numbers and none worked. I went online and made an appointment for 6/17/11 for 11:00 - 2:00pm. I even called the day before (the phones were finally working) and confirmed it. On Friday, the 17th at 1:00pm I got a call from the service man saying he was double booked and couldn't come. He would send someone else and they would call me. That was three days ago and I haven't heard from Broad Ripple at all. I don't know what going there, but someone else will get my business.
