Two technicians showed up and were very courteous. They did a good job of closing the door when they were going in and out and putting shoe covers on. They inspected the system and the furnace ran smoothly this winter. I would probably use them again if they offered another Angie's List deal. They did a few things that I found to be unprofessional. They bad-mouthed the company that installed my furnace. I wasn't happy with that company either (hence why someone else was doing the furnace check), but I thought it was unprofessional to mention more than once or twice that they did not like that company. They put a new service sticker on our unit, intentionally covering the other company's number. They also tried to upsell me on several items, such as a new thermostat, a UV cleaner, and a system humidifier--our house was built in 2007. They gave me some information, but also seemed to imply that if I made a decision during that visit, they would cut the price. They did not otherwise pressure me to make a decision though. They also noted that my dryer vent was very clogged (it's next to the outdoor HVAC unit), and said I should get it cleaned, and then telling me about how a relative's house had caught fire because of a dryer vent having a lot of lint. They said I could call their company to get the service done ($125), and when I did, no one returned my call (and when another company came, they said my vent was not very clogged after all). All in all, the furnace service was fine, but I could have done without the extra commentary on the furnace installation company and the upselling of other services.

We purchased Angie's List Big Deal for a $49 Furnace Tune-up and the job went great! I was unable to be home when the technician showed up but he made sure everything was in working order and left great suggestions with my girlfriend for ways to improve the filtering. We will certainly continue using and recommending Service Experts!

I called Service Experts, the company that installed the water heater , and set up an appointment to investigate and remedy a leak.The Technician, Ryan, arrived on time, entered the house and placed covers (booties) over his shoes to protect the floors. He proceeded to the water heater, found the source of the leak was a loose union, fixed the leak, gave me a bill and left. The entire encounter lasted less than 30 minutes and was done on the day I had initially found water on the floor under the water heater.
Description of Work: Tightened Union on cold water service on bottom of Rinnai Tankless water Heater. This was a repair of a leak at the point where the cold water line entered the water heater.

Icalled the company because my garbage disposal had backed up that day. They were able to dispatch Keith Kennedy to me a few hours after the call. He took a quick look at the kitchen sink and then asked if I wanted him to do a mini-inspection of the rest of the house plumbing while he was there. Since we just bought this house I said okay. We did a thorough walk-around to all the plumbing devices throughout the house and the water softener in the garage. He found several issues that need addressed, namely the water heater was leaking and starting to corrode. While I was glad that these things were being brought to my attention, I felt I was slowly sinking in to the proverbial money pit. Keith was very thorough with his explanation of things and this mini-inspection took way longer than I expected. I would have appreciating being told ahead of time approximately how long this would all take. He was here from 4:30 - 7:15. After a long and technical explanation about water purity, he got to the task at hand, which was to fix the garbage disposal. Turns out the 12 year old machine needed replaced which cost $461.00. I also decided to sign up for their "Plus Agreement" service plan for another $79/per year, since we are going to need other plumbing work done. It was obvious Keith really knew what he was doing and was passionate about plumbing!

My husband takes care of the service stuff. We spent a lot of money. They had to replace several parts. It was $600 may be. So it was quite a bit. We liked their service. We’ve used them before and that’s why we keep calling them, and we don’t think we would call anyone else. They are prompt. They’ve done work for us before and their work has been of good quality. That’s why we keep calling them back. They’re probably not the cheapest place in town but they’re the most reliable as far as we think. We think price wise, they’re a little on the expensive side or on the higher end side. We think you get what you pay for. We will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Broad Ripple Heating & Air Conditioning. We last used their services about two months ago when our furnace was making a horrible sound. We knew something was wrong and it was real cold outside. So they came out and fixed it for us. They replaced several parts.

It was a bad clog far back in the line in the wall but the tech was able to clear it after nearly an hour's effort without damaging the 55 year drain pipe in the wall. Drain runs better than it ahs in years.

The did a routine check on my furnace. I have them out twice a year. I have them out in spring to look at the air conditioning unit and in the fall to look at the furnace to replace the filter. I would have them out for service but would not buy anything from them. I think they are a little pushy when it comes to sales.

I was at the home show and that was where I saw them. I am on agreement with them and I spend $180 a year and it is like a service contract.

Did the annual routine maintenance on my furnace for the winter, including installing a new filter. There were no problems found. The service technician was prompt, professional, efficient and friendly. I bought the annual service agreement for $180, which covers this visit and the air conditioning maintenance next spring. I do that because the price is somewhat less expensive than paying for each visit separately. The price has crept up in recent years. Overall, a safisfactory experience.

This company had done our semi-annual furnace maintenance 6 weeks ago, but did not service the humidifier (oversight). The tech fixed all issues and gave us a break on the service price. Solved our problem quickly.

Story starts in November 2010. Had SE (Broad Ripple Heating and Cooling at the time) install new high effieciency furnace to the tune of $7k. Furnace seems to work fine. Come spring of 2011, I went to turn on AC for first time. AC came on. While it was on, air was barely moving in the ducts. Mind you, I had SE out to check over my AC for me and they had given it a clean bill of health and even recommended not replacing it as it was not outside it's service life. Within a couple days, I noticed was the compressor to the AC was no longer running. This was shortly followed by my units generating a steady steam of water that eventually covered half my basement floor. I figured I would call SE since they were the last to mess with the system. Even though my system was leaking water they could not get to me for 7 days. Tech finally came out a week later. Tech was very surly and seemed to not keep me informed of what was going on. While I was not breathing down his neck or micro managing him, I did ask questions. I got one word answers that basically told me nothing. Next thing I know, he has installed new parts on my AC unit and presents me with a bill for almost $400. He then asks me to sign a document to "permit" him to do the work (after the work was done). I asked what the problem was. Apparently, when my furnace was installed, my CFM setting for the fan was set incorrectly (by their techs) which caused my AC to freeze. This in turn caused my compressor to run constantly for several days. Turns out, he had to adjust my CFM and then install a capacitor because my compressor would no longer kick on by itself. I point blank asked him if my AC unit could have been damaged because it was overworking itself trying to cool my house with a frozen coil. His answer was "Possibly". This says to me, that it was the fault of the SE Techs that resulted in my time off work to deal with this and the $400 bill. I told the tech that I was not comfortable paying for this work since the whole problem was obviously caused by their company. He said he would then have to spend another hour at my house taking the parts off that fixed my compressor as he could not leave the parts on without payment. He told me the other option was to put my phone number in the memo of check and that they would not cash the check until they spoke with me to make sure we all understood the situation. Well guess what? No call, check was cashed. To add insult to injury, the check broke down as $250 for the part and $150 for some sort of warranty. Friend of mine in the HVAC business said the part was maybe $60 retail so I got gouged there. Let alone for a warranty I never would have bought. Turns out, a friend of mine went through pretty much the same thing after getting a high efficiency furnace so this is not a one time occurance for SE.

Their service tech is great, polite, did the job. It's their call center that's the issue. For the last year, they've called to schedule when it wasn't time. Then they asked me to call back the next month and keep moving it because the national center won't delete it so I need to delete it by calling, but not then, they can't do it til the month of the appointment. This time, I called to find out when our service agreement is up. One person said it wasn't up at all and scheduled service for heating tuneup that night. That night I got a call asking us to reschedule our plumbing appointment. It took 30 minutes to convince them I needed heating help, not plumbing. They said our service agreement was up the next day, unlike the first guy who said it was not up at all, and then the tech who came the next day said it was already past and we needed to pay for the tuneup, though when I explained the mess, he went ahead and did it for free. Their local people don't seem to know what their call center is doing, and vice versa. After many years with Service Experts, I wll find another provider.

It was a learning experience. Be sure to pay attention to any pipes with openings when using a lawn blower - stay free of those pipes.
Description of Work: My tankless water heater was not working. I had it installed a year ago by Service Experts (Broad Ripple Plumbing) and was perturbed that it was not working. Steve, the technician, identified the problem and fixed it. The problem was not the Equipment. I had my leaves cleaned from my yard a few days before and leaves had been blown into the air intake pipe which interferred with the heater's ability to work. Steve was very professional and explained the problem thoroughly prior to making the repair.

The technician was on time and took sufficient time to do a good and effective job.
Description of Work: I purchased a $49.00 furnace tune up from Angie's list and the tune up was done by Robert. After servicing the furnace he checked the humidifier and the pad needed to be replaced. It was not part of the furnace deal which I understood. The technician was professional and thorough.

Impressive! Consistenly polite, considerate of my time, and prompt; clearly their company cares about treatment of their clients and a high quality of training of their employees. What a breath of fresh air! I called Service Experts Heating & A.C. Tuesday morning to set an appointment for the Big Deal (purchased Monday night). The number given sent me to their service call center where I spoke with a young man who was in training. What he lacked in knowledge, he made up for in politeness and eagerness to help me. After our brief chat, he booked me for later that morning--talk about fast service!!! A few minutes later, a representative from the local store called to discuss setting an appointment and to ensure I understood the Big Deal details; I told I'd just booked an appointment and thanked her for calling me. Instead of politely letting me go, she immediatly double checked my appointment, reviewed the details of the appointment with me, and assured me the service person would have a fresh filter with him. Approximately 25 to 30 minutes before the tech was to arrive, she phoned to let me know he was on his way. Ronald, their tech, greeted me warmly and waited to be invited into my home--immediately putting me at ease. He covered his shoes--a rarity these days--brought in the tools he needed, and immediately went to work. I hovered about asking a hundred questions--okay, i'm being a bit hyperbolic here--while he worked. Ronald answered all my questions with absolute clarity and with a pleasant tone. As he worked, he told me what he was doing, how the furnace looked, shared needs for its care, and worked in silence when he needed to focus or listen--all without making me feel like I was a nusiance. I asked about grades of filters; he discussed types and function of said filters. I asked for an upgrade, so he popped out and came back in no time with new filters. After he was finised, he told me about their Plus Agreement and how it worked. He didn't make a hard sell of it, but gave me much needed information and encouraged me to read about it to ensure I was comfortable with it prior to purchasing it. Wow! That is customer care!

I was going into the mechanical room to dump out the water in the dehumidifier, and I found a puddle of water. Since it had rained the night before, I wiped up the water in hopes that water had just backed up into the basement. When I checked on it again, the puddle was back so I told my husband. He traced it back to the water heater. We were not sure if it was an easy fix or not so I called Service Experts. We had used the company before when we remodeled our kitchen and found several problems as a accidentally in the mechanical room along the way. Keith came out this time to check on the water heater and to do a yearly inspection of all of our plumbing. He found a few other things in the house that we didn't know about so it was very helpful and will prevent bigger issues with some fixes. He also found that our water heater was very old and could flood part of our basement. He explained everything in detail, showed us where the problem was and how it posed as a problem, helped us to find out just how old it was, showed us how to shut off the valve to help prevent a flood until the new one was installed, and gave us time to make our decision. We now have a new water heater which was unexpected but we feel good about our decision. Keith did not pressure us to purchase, and the company sent someone out quickly. It was a good experience.

They did a very good job. They came when they said they would, they did solid work, and were great to deal with throughout the process. They only drawbacks were that they took a week to get back with me after I first contacted them, and I did not get a 30-minute heads up call they said I’d get before the repairman would arrive But all in all, I was very appreciative of what they did. I advise you ask for Keith Kennedy.

Went great, they called when tech was on his way. He came in and took care of both furnaces in less than 2 hours but was thorough, not rushed. Obviously in it for a long term customer rather than a quick hit as he took the time to make filter recommendations etc.
Description of Work: Did the 'big deal' $49 Check on both of my electric furnaces. Kevin was great. I told him I thought something might be wrong as my heating bills last winter were exhorbitant. He took that as a challenge and found that I was using the wrong size filter on one furnace. Mind you I have had that type of filter on and several checks in the past (not by this company). Also since I had looked them up as Broad Ripple H&C, I didn't realize they were the same as the angies list deal.
