I felt Service Plus did a thorough and excellent job as explained above. Their written service explanation was more detailed than a service invoice and provided good customer information.
Description of Work: I wanted to have my A/C checked due to high temperatures and constant use of the A/C. The unit was working well, but checking for potential problems and to determine the units efficiency was my purpose for the Service Call. And the Angies List Special appealed to me. What I liked about Service Plus was the fact that their A/C check list was published in their offer of service. It was a very detailed list of their service. I also had several questions about my system that were answered by their service specialist. One fact that I especially liked about their service is that the Service Tech. wrote up his observations and recommendations. While my A/C system was working efficiently he explained that my humidifier vent was opened and needed to which he closed. He also suggested a change to improve my humidification system. Additionally he had checked my air handler motor and indicated that it could need replacing in the future based upon it's current operating status. An estimate for this repair was provided if needed. This was good for financial planning.

I had 2 AC units that were not functioning. I called this company to do the work. They told me that I needed brand AC units. In both cases, I had companies come out and give me another estimate. They were able to fix both of them without having to buy new AC units. They were repaired by another company for 1/3 of the estimate.

We were experiencing trouble with our central air conditioner. We contacted Servcie Experts for repair work. A technician (Tim) was sent out within the hour (I would recommend being placed on the call back list-service was much faster than originally estimated by the central office staff). The technician was very knowledgable and identified the issues very quickly. The unit was very old which was going to require parts being ordered at a rather prohibitive cost. We decided to purchase a new system instead of spend money on the old one. We were contacted very quickly by a sales rep (Casey) to determine which replacement unit best met our needs. Casey was able to make arrangement for the unit to be installed the next morning. The install crew and Casey showed up at the house at the expected time. The paperwork, installation and cleanup were all completed with approximately 4 hours. The experience was excellent - within less than 24 hours all elements of the process were completed.
Description of Work: Service Experts assessed our old central air conditioning system, provided options for service or replacement and installed new system.

The repair provider, David, from Broad Ripple Heating and AC (Service Experts) was very professional and thorough. He carefully reviewed the equipment and listened attentively to my description of the problem. He did not rush through the work, jump to conclusions, nor act dismissive. He explained what he was doing, showing me the defective part and the difference between it and a new replacement part. He was respectful of the property and cleaned up after his work.

The company called me in the spring to schedule maintenance per my annual agreement. An appointment was scheduled for May 2, between 2-4 pm. I reminded them that my unit and filters are near the top of my 14 foot ceilings and that the service professionals need a collapsable ladder to access it. (They knew this from previous visits.) On the 2nd, I took the afternoon off in order to let them in my home to do the work. At 4 pm, the service person phoned me to tell me he did not have the appropriate ladder with him and that it would be after 5 before he could return with the appropriate ladder. We decided to reschedule on a different day...he told me that someone would call me to reschedule. Weeks passed and no one called to reschedule, so I contacted them instead. A second appointment was scheduled for May 24, between 5-6 pm and I again reminded them to bring a collapsable ladder. At 6 pm, the service person called and admitted he did not have the ladder with him. When the third appointment was scheduled for June 4, I again reminded them why the work was not performed in previous appointments. When the service person arrived, he did not bring the ladder, explaining that it might not be necessary, though it soon became clear he was wrong. A fourth appointment was scheduled for June 7 at 6 pm. No one showed up nor called. The company left a voice mail message the next day at my home during business hours asking me to return their call. They have been apologetic all four times. However, I am tired of talking, tired of waiting for service and believe I deserve a refund.
Description of Work: The service scheduled, but never performed, was maintenance per my annual service agreement.

The Salesman explained the differences between the various models along with their pricing. Once we chose a model, he immediately phone into his office for an installation date. The unit was installed as scheduled. The Salesman and the Service Manager inspected the installation upon its completion. The unit has been working well in our recent 90 degree weather. I would use Service Experts for any future heating or cooling needs.
Description of Work: We bought a new Lennox Air Conditioning unit, including installation, from Service Experts. I regret that we bought the most expensive unit, and would caution customers to be more catious then we were. But that was our problem, not Service Experts.

Around May 14, I received a call from Service Experts wanting to sell me a service contract for AC and furnace. We had done business with them in the past, and my husband was very dissatisfied with their service. However, he recently passed away and I was overwhelmed with things that needed to be done, including servicing the air conditioner, so I agreed to a contract on the AC only. The caller, Yolanda, requested a credit card number, which I gave her. I asked for a phone number if I had questions later, and she gave me a number and an extension. She told me someone would call that week to schedule the service. When no one had called by May 25, I decided to cancel the contract. I called the number Yolanda had given me and got someone else. I told her I wanted to cancel the contract and to have my credit card credited for the $140. She kept insisting she could get me scheduled for service right away, and I kept repeating that I just wanted to cancel the contract. After five minutes of this, she told me she couldn't do that but she'd transfer me to someone else. Then "Kathy" then began telling me she could schedule the service; I said I wanted to cancel the contract, and we did another five minutes of that. Finally she said she could cancel it, but she couldn't do anything about any charges on my credit card. She transferred me to Accounting, where no one answered. I was on hold for ten minutes, during which she kept coming on the line to see if I wanted to leave a voicemail. Finally she told me SHE would leave a voicemail and someone would call me back the next day. That was the last I heard from them until June 1, when someone called me to schedule the service. I told this caller I had cancelled the contract on May 25; she said she had no record of that but she'd look into it and someone would call me. At that point, I checked the credit card statement online and discovered my card had been charged on May 29 -- FOUR DAYS AFTER I had cancelled the contract. The next day I called the local number and FINALLY got someone named Erika who said she would contact the billing department. It was Saturday and she assured me someone would call me on Monday. "Naya" actually DID call on Monday, and the charge was credited back to my account on Wednesday. These last two people were helpful and did what they said they would do; they are the ONLY reason this company got above an F grade from me. I will NEVER do business with them again.
Description of Work: I purchased a service contract from Service Experts, who failed to provide service and charged my credit card for the contract AFTER I had cancelled the contract.

We have used this company before and purchased the service warranty for our air conditioning unit. We have been very pleased with the service we received up to this point. We had an appointment scheduled in May to have the air conditioner serviced. We were contacted by the company and asked if we could delay our routine service appointment until June because of an inundation of emergency service calls. We agreed and established an appointment for June 8 between 2:00-4:00 pm. My husband was at home all day but the technician never arrived. A call was made to the company at 3:50 p.m. We were told that the technician wasn't able to keep the appointment because our address "wasn't in our GPS system." Clearly we have had this company at our home on several occasions. I asked why no one had called to ask for directions and was told that attempts had been made to contact us but no one was at home. Someone was at our house all day. No messages were left on our home answering machine. I am very disappointed that our service appointment was not kept and the reason was because our address was not able to be found in a GPS system. A third appointment has now been scheduled.

We had Service Experts come and perform a service call on our AC unit. The tech determined that the unit needed to be replaced (which we knew). He left us information on new units and the phone number to their new instillations department. My wife called the number and left a message with a answering service stating that we would like someone to come out and give us an estimate. The next day we received a call scheduling an appointment for 8-10 a.m. the following day. The following day I stayed home from work to take the scheduled meeting. I waited until noon with no one showing up or calling to reschedule or explain the no show. I then called Service Experts and asked if there was a mix up in scheduling. I was told that there was and someone would contact me by the end of the day to reschedule. Later that evening (around 6 pm) my wife received a call from a guy saying that he didn't know about the appointment and would like to reschedule. My wife took down his number and informed him that we would have to get back with him to reschedule. The next day my wife called and left a two messages that were never returned. We decided to move on

I am greatly dismayed as to the origin of this call and how we have no record of it anywhere in our system. I tried to contact the customer but without any phone # or history I was unable to do so. My experience with Service Experts this time has been less than I would describe as excellent. I can only assume that the parts that were installed were required and the a/c will operate well during the summer season. I was not happy with the length of time it took from the initial inspection until the parts that were described as needed were installed. As far as the knowledge and professionalism of the last 2 technicians who came to my home are concerned I was satisfied. But my overall experience was not what I would deem to be anything other than average. I still have one more year of service on my 3 year contract with Service Experts. .
Description of Work: I have a 3 year service contract with this company. The technician came April 30 to inspect the a/c system. I was not home at the time but my mother was and let him in. When I returned home I found his report of what he had found and it said my a/c needed new contactors. The a/c system is a Carrier and about 11 years old. It has been serviced each year. When I returned home after the first technician (Thomas) I found the bi-fold doors that enclose the heating system were off the track and would not close flush. I called Service Experts and they sent another technician to my home to fix the problem with the bi-fold doors. On May18 I completed a survey sheet that company had asked me to fill out and I indicated I was tired of waiting for the necessary parts to be installed. The following Monday morning I received a phone call from Dave Ward apologizing for the delay and promising to have a technician come out that day to install the parts. That afternoon Bob came out and installed the contactors and cleaned out some debris that had accumulated in the bottom of our a/c. He was very professional and I thought at last our problem had been resolved. But I turned down the thermostat on the a/c and the a/c did not come on. I called the after hours number for Service Experts and told them of my unhappiness and they said a technician would come to our house. Collin arrived shortly after my phone call and I explained that the a/c had finally come on but I did not trust it over the Memorial Day weekend when temperatures were forecast to be in the 90s. He checked out the system and agreed that the a/c should be starting much sooner than it was doing. After checking the system, he determined my thermostat was about to go bad and I needed a new one. He replaced the thermostat and so far (May26) the system is operating normally.

I have a standing annual contract with Service Experts. They have been pretty reliable for the last 8 or so years. They came out most recently to do a service call (annual checkup), but the air conditioning had gone out. The blower would run, but there was no cooling. The technician said that since it was changed from a checkup call to a service call, he'd have to charge me. I asked him just to fix it. He checked the system and informed me that when they had put in the new Lennox Heat Pump in May 2011, that they didn't update some of the vital components including the TXV mechanical valve that he said works unreliablely with the Trane Furnace components that were already in existence. I called the main office and spoke with the service manager, but he told me that they like to try to see if things will work out. I spoke with a neighbor who works for a major residential/office HVC company, and he said that Lennox demands that when their parts are put in, that all linkage parts must match. I explained this to the service manager at Service Experts, but he gave me other reasons that they had done this. I called Service Experts on May 14th, about a week later, and they informed me that they had the part and could come out on May 16th. I waited at home after 12pm as they had requested on the 16th of May, and at 4:30pm, I called the company, and they didn't have me scheduled. They stated, that because I had taken a vacation day, that they would send someone out. When he arrived, he was here only 20 minutes, when he informed me that they had ordered the wrong part. He said that they were sorry, but that they would call tomorrow (Thursday May 17th) when they got the new part. I waited until Thursday afternoon, and then called them. They said that they would come out Friday between 12-2pm. At 2:30pm, the technician arrived, and worked on the system. He had to leave once to get more parts, and paint to fix a burn mark on the door frame from his torch. In the end, they look about $100 off of the visit, and charged me the straight cost on the TXV part that they had quoted I don't know what is going on at Service Experts, but this is my second disappointing visit with this company (previously stated they would fix my furnace, but didn't show up). I hope the service gets better.
Description of Work: Update to the TXV valve on a Trane furnace interfacing with a Lennox heat pump.

They finally got the unit fixed, but I had to yell a lot to get it done. I did appreciate that. They settled it satisfactorily and it is okay now. They completed their work and it was satisfactory. They had to order a new part from the factory because the part that was making noise had to be replaced. It was deductive. I live by myself, so I depend on the people who are honest. After I complaint, they were very responsive and efficient. The thing is working great. They are professional. I am satisfied with the result.

The experience was terrible. The dispatcher called to set up an earlier time,I told her that was fine. She stated someone will call 20-30 minutes before they arrive what phone number should they call.I gave her my cell. I left at 6:00 to pick up my daughter and when I pull into the driveway, there sits the Service truck. I stated you were supposed to call he said he did. I ask what number. It was to the landline in the house. Seems to be a communication problem. The tech did the work and left. He told me if there was any problems call the number on the ticket and I could get him directly. Well there was a problem. My closet that the furnace was in was flooded! Called the number and it was to a call center. No Dan there!! The center stated they could probably have someone come out tonight. I figured out how to turn the water off to the humidifier and dried things up. A tech did call at 10:00 P.M. He offered to come fix it and I declined as I was tired and I didn't feel like this poor man should come out at 10:00 P.M. to fix another mans mistake. I called the next morning, and they are supposed to come out Saturday 4/14/12 to fix it at no cost.

Response from Broad Ripple Service Experts
We did go back to this job with another service tech, Adam Barr, and the customer signed back up with us for a new Service Agreement. The 2nd technician did perform an additional cleaning and assured that every component was tuned-up to and ready for full service. This service was performed through our South Branch and you can easily contact the Branch Manager, Todd Campbell (317) 352-2184. Todd assured me that he and the member discussed this issue to his satisfaction.
