I've never had a more pleasant service experience. I have a yearly service agreement with the company and all staff members have been punctual, respectful, helpful, and have never tried to sell additional services or equipment. This particular problem took 3 trips to my home to solve (and the opinions of 2 electricians), as information didn't add up during the troubleshooting process. The staff was patient and detail oriented and looked into every possible scenario that could have caused the problem (and there were many). When one staff member felt he was outside his level of expertise, the company sent out their top heat pump installation expert. I was not charged for any of the visits because of the service agreement. Overall, it was a hard problem to solve and Service Experts did it. I am extremely grateful for all of their help and will be renewing my service agreement.

Service man found furnace "to be leaking water from the flue pipe connection". He said since the furnace was no longer made, parts could not be purchased and I would need to replace the entire furnace. Called Sexton Environmental systems for a second opinion and the service man was able to hand tighten the PVC connection and the leak was resolved. Charged $90 - a lot better deal than replacing the furnace. I will not be purchasing a service agreement again from this company.
Description of Work: Service man came out to perform prepaid maintenance agreement on furnace.

[member name removed], Thanks for the feedback, which we are escalating to our service management team. We regret that you thought we were trying to talk you into buying equipment last fall if you didn't need it. We try to explain as clearly as possible to our customers what is wrong and what it takes to fix it correctly. If our technician recommended replacing equipment, there most likely was a good reason for it. If there is a low-cost, yet responsible alternative we can suggest, we will. But we do not offer solutions that do not actually fix the problem. If you wish to contact us directly, please email us at CustomerCare@ServiceExperts.com and allow us the opportunity to resolve your concerns if possible.

The owner called the next business day to schedule the service call. I received another call a day or two later to make sure the appointment was scheduled. On the day of the call, the technician, Jason Moore, did not arrive at the time that I expected, but did call to say that he thought the appointment was at different time. The capacitor needed to be replaced. I expected this since last year another company said it would be needed. The technician stayed afterwards to explain why the part should have been replaced when the issue was first detected.

Obviously, very unhappy with the work and I'm waiting for our refund from the Service Contract. Don't go with this company!
Description of Work: Service Experts used to be known as Broadripple Heating & Air Conditioning. When they were privately owned, they were a fabulous company! A few years ago, they were sold to Service Experts and since that time, the service is abysmal. Calls now go to an answering service located somewhere in the Chicago area. I would NEVER use them again. I have always carried a "Plus Maintenance" agreement. Twice a year, they come out and check over the furnace and AC. This year, I was called in August to check my furnace. I questioned the timing of checking a furnace in August, but the call center insisted it was the right time. (Later a technician told me NEVER to accept that type of timing because your furnace won't get warm due to the fact it's HOT outside in August!) In October, we noticed we did not have heat in the house. I called Service Experts and they did send someone out that evening, due to my Plus Maintenance agreement. The technician was very cordial and felt he fixed the problem. Shortly after he left, we still had no heat. The next morning, I called again and lined up another technician who was going to "work me in" during the afternoon. The call center was as "dippy" as any I've ever spoken to. They are open 24/7 and the lady wasn't even aware of the time zone differences! The technician was here for four hours and decided the problem was the computer system of the furnace was shot and a new one needed to ordered. He assured us they would let us know by the next day when the part would be in. In the meantime, still no heat. 2 days passed and I finally called Service Experts to check on the status of our part, as it was getting colder and colder and was around 55 in the house. They sent out someone who had been with Broadripple Heating & AC for years and both my husband and I let him know how displeased we were with the service. He actually said we were nice about it compared to others they had serviced. Turns out, no part needed to be ordered....a pipe was full of leaves and needed to be blown out. We asked why even carry a service contract, when it doesn't really get you anything and costs approximately $300/year! He did let us know that others had complained about the call center and service and promised to refund our money the services. Have not heard anything since Nov. 1, 2012. We were charged $162.00 for the first visit, $162.00 for the second visit (that was refunded) and $199.00 for the third visit. Outrageous, in my opinion. Each time was a $99.00 service call. I mentioned to the third technician that I could have saved myself a lot of money by dropping the contract and using the free service call coupon from Angie's List! Even though I mentioned it, he still charged the $99.00 service call. I called the local office (finally figured out a number for it) and spoke to a very nice lady in the Accounting department and asked her how to cancel our contract and get a refund for the remaining months. She told me it had to be in writing, so my letter has been mailed to them.

Overall every was satisfactory. I expect to see the Company back next spring. Soon after I saw Matt on a Channel 13 program showing him helping needy people prepare for winter. I approve of that.
Description of Work: Matt from Williams Comfort Air, arrived promptly for an afternoon appointment , trouble shot the cooling issues. The furnace interior was cleaned, to improve the air flow through cooling fins and a clogged condensation drain which was causing mischief thought furnace. I did sign up for a service plan. In the spring he said he would re-check coolant pressures since the cooling period was over for now.

Overall, the service was great, but I also didn't require any repairs or services outside of the $49.00 coupon "tune-up" special. I do plan to schedule another service appointment soon.
Description of Work: Service Experts showed up on time, the technician was very professional, and polite. He walked me through each part of the HVAC system tune-up, and explained what parts may need more attention than others. He also advised me that I may be using an air filter that will take the life away from my blower motor. He said that the standard (much cheaper) air filters are enough, and that I can just change them more frequently, if build-up occurs.

Technician was 8 hours late. Technician fixed not a thing. Technician suggested absolutely outrageous "Recommended Services" (New toilet $629), revitalife reverse osmosis $1450, no salt descal system $2495, 1 1/2 cube softner $1959) which had next to nothing to do with the services requested. Technician charged an outrageous $278 for a 30 minut toilet auger (toilet was clean when he worked on it so there was no mess of any kind with which he had to contend). One other thing, I found it hard to get rid of this guy to the point I was just about to call our police patrol to get him out. Outside of the above, it just went fine.
Description of Work: We asked for plumbing help on three projects. First was a leaking faucet; technician seemed totally confused on how to fix the leak; could not figure out how to get to washer (I could figure this out) finally said after sitting in truck for awhile that it might be cheaper to just buy a new faucet. Second was a toiled flapper job; easy work and about a ten minute job as any home handyman would tell you but he expected $107 to replace the flapper (WOW if that does not take your breath away! I tol him that I think I could fix it myself). Third was a toilet that flushed slowly; he ran a six foot auger which did not fix the problem. Suggested that (a) new fill valve might help (has nothing to do with flush and old one works just fine), (b) water holes around rim are plugged (suggested a new toilet at $629 might be necessary) in spite of the fact that we have a water softner that decalcifies water) and the flow of water comming through edge is just fine, and toilet tower might need replacement (this is a maybe although I fail to see how this might be a flushing problem if the tank fills up normally. He was supposed to arrive 8-10 am and finally showed up a bit after 4 pm (truck problem but I would add that his office did keep us informed). Almost had to throw him out of house as he dilly dallied and my wife had an appointment and need to eat dinner. My wife and I are in our 70s......we ended up paying $278 for no effect what so ever; the kitchen fauct still leaks, the toiled needing the flapper still runs, the toilet that flushed poorly still flushes poorly. AND, this technician really seemed to care less. I have been a customer of Village Plumbing for years and have spent thousands with them and praised their work to many friends; this predecessor company is incompetent , charges outrageous fees, and might be preying on old folks (I rejected most of this technicians costly suggestions but some of my friends might well have been pressured in by this guy).

I have a very small closet that the furnace and hot water heater are in. At first it appeared that there was not enough room for a humidifier but they came twice to try and figure it out and they finally found a way to reroute some things and make it work. Then it needed a drain. The hot water heater was sitting directly on top of the drain. They were able to lift it and allow the drain to be usable. They did an excellent job. The service man was scheduled to arrive at 830 but did arrive until after 9. That was my only complaint and it was very minor

They missed the first appointment. I have to call the second time. They send a service person after my second call. There was no estimate since we used the company for heating and A/C maintenance for a long time. I paid $229 for replacing PVC drain pipe before the service people left. I got another bill of $81 recently. I have no idea what that was for.

First let me say that I have used Village Plumbing several times in the past and, although I thought the price was a bit more than their competitors, I was willing to pay it as their service was exceptional -- always on-time, helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and I never had any problems. BUT that is not the case now that they are Service Experts. I ran too much through my garbage disposal, clogged my kitchen drain, and knew that I would need a plumber to clear it. I sent an email to Service Experts using their contact link but never received a response. The next day I called using the phone info on Angies List and I only got an answering machine. I then called the old Village Plumbing phone number and got through to Service Experts. I explained what I needed and asked about the cost. The only thing they would tell me was that there was a $99 trip charge but, if I had the work done, they would waive that. Since I was sure I knew what was wrong, I asked if they could give me a rough idea of the cost. They said no. They didn't even say if they charged by the hour or by the job. That should have been a red flag as, in the past, they'd been able to give me some general price info but they would qualify it saying they couldn't know for sure until they came out and looked at the work that was need. But, based on my prior experience with Village Plumbing, I went ahead and scheduled them. I was told they would come between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm. At 3:45 pm they still had not arrived or called so I contacted Service Experts again. At first they couldn't even find a record of my appointment, then they found it and said that I seemed to have 2 accounts and it was under "the other one." They told me that my appointment window was for 1:45 to 3:45 (not 12:30 to 2:30 as I'd been told initally). Since it was already 3:45 when I called, I pointed that out and asked when I could expect them. The employee put me on hold for an extended time, then came back and said he could not give me a time but that he'd talked to the technician and I was definitely on the schedule. He mentioned that their system had been down (I assume he meant their computer scheduling system) and that the technican was extremely busy. At 7:30 pm, I called again as no one had shown up yet. Again, I was put on hold for an extended period of time, then told that the technician would call me. When I asked when, they said within 15 minutes. The technican did call and said he'd be there in 45 minutes. He finally arrived at 8:15 pm. The technican checked my sink and drain and confirmed that he would have to snake it. He then gave me a price $309. I was shocked by the price and I asked about waiving the trip charge. The technican said it had been waived and the cost was $210 for the job plus an additional $99 diagnostic fee. There was no mention of a diagnostic fee when I first called. As I had several competitors' coupons for a MUCH lower cost, and because of all the trouble I had scheduling the appointment and that I had to wait for over 8 hours, I decided not to have the work done. I would have rated them an F for professionalism based on my interactions with the call center but I gave them a D only because the technican (Keith) was very nice, professional, and apologetic for being so late. He did agree to cancel the trip charge even though I didn't have the work done. Sadly, I will not use Service Experts in the future.
Description of Work: I put too much in the garbage disposal and clogged up the kitchen drain. I was unable to clear it myself and knew it would need a plumber to run a snake through the line.

My garbage disposal ceased working while trying to dispose of some waste, I called Service Experts four times early in the afternoon seeking an appointment. There was a problem with their phone service and their connection kept breaking off. Eventually, one of their service reps called me back. She made an appointment, but with no specificity as to whom or about when someone would come. Four hours later I called and they told me someone would be out there in two hours. When the serviceman arrived, he told me had already been working twelve hours, and appeared dead tired. He wanted to charge two hundred fifty for the five minute repair. But waived a fee. He miscalculated the fifteen percent discoutn. He eneded up charging $158 for the trip and five minutes of work. It seems to me that about $80 would have been right for this.

I did not appreciate the lack of punctuality, communication, and service. I felt I was misled because they didn't show when they said they would. Don't tell me you'll be here at a certain time, have me stay home from work, and then not show up.
Description of Work: The furnace was broken so we had no heat in the front half of our house. (The back half is powered by a second furnace that worked fine). We called the Company and they came out on Sunday Evening. They said that there was noting wrong with the Furnace, but the Oil tanks were empty. So, we paid $99 for the service call and had the fuel tanks filled (another company). The man who filled the fuel tanks said they weren't empty and that wasn't the problem. So I called Service Experts to have them come back out to recheck it out because the furnace still didn't work. The appointment was between 4-6pm. I called at 6 and they said that the appointment was between 6-8pm. At 8:15, I called and the office said they'd have the service guy call me so he could tell me where he was. He called at 8:30 and said he had 2 more calls to make and could probably be there by 10pm. I said that was too late and I would like him to come at 8am the next morning and he agreed and said he would be there at 8am in the morning. I stayed home from work and left for work at 9am and he still hadn't showed up. I had called several times and the office said he would call when he was on his way. So I canceled the appointment because I needed to go to work. He called at 9:30 while I was at work and wondered where I was. He had not been informed that I had canceled the appointment. We are using another company now to fix our furnace.

The work went very well overall. I was told at the time the estimate was prepared that because my crawlspace was so narrow, the duct installation would take at up to two days, with the furnace installation taking 1 day. The installers kept to their time frame. All debris was cleared away at the end of each work day, and even my kitchen floor was clean of dirt and mud. I was away during the majority of the installation process, but the installers left all of the users manuals, warranty information, etc. in a visible location at the end of the job. They made a point to connect the furnace fan to the thermostat so that I could use my wood stove as a heat source and circulate the ambient heat throughout the house. This will come in handy, as I normally heat the house with wood on weekends and when I am home to tend the fire. All in all, the installation was stress free and the outcome is a house that is warm in every room and a heating system that uses very little gas to do its job.
Description of Work: My furnace was 16 years old and not producing very much heat. Two rooms that were furthest from the furnace averaged 10 - 15 degrees cooler than the rooms nearest the furnace, and I had to keep them shut off during the worst part of the winter to retain heat in the other parts of the house. Not only that, but because my crawlspace had flooded several times prior to my having a drainage system put in the yard, the ductwork was rusted out to the point where one entire length of ductwork had separated from the house. Service Experts installed a new furnace, ductwork, warm air registers and programmable thermostat.

They replaced the water heater and water softener in two different visits. For the water heater, they were able to schedule an appointment the day after we called and completed the job that day. They were friendly, professional, and very competent. The water heater works very well. The only small problem is that the pipe from the water heater to the sump pit (to relieve steam pressure) is slightly too long, and our sump pit cover now does not fit properly (the technician suggested putting it at an angle, but this is not ideal). For the water softener, they gave us a quote and an extensive, very helpful explanation with no sales pressure. There was a scheduling error for the first scheduled day, so they did not show up as scheduled, but they were very apologetic and came out on the next day that we were available. The install went well, and Keith even came out the day after the install to help us with a question that we had about the softener (which was functioning perfectly, as he showed us). We have used them several times in the past and have been pleased with their responsiveness and professionalism.

When they were here they told me the humidifier wasn't working and it would cost around $250 to repair. We opted for a new one rather than a repair. When they came to install the new one it still wasn't working. It turns out it was not the actual humidifier it was the sattle valve on the water line. I have tried to call them to complain and haven't gotten any response from them.

Gene was very nice and explained everything to me. He signed me up for the fall and spring maintenance checks.
Description of Work: Our a/c was making a very loud noise Saturday eve . Our capacitator needed to be replaced , luckily the gentleman had one on the truck. I was surprised that he came so quickly and was done so fast.

They set the appointment for September 21st. Then they called on the 20th (the day before) letting me know they overbooked themselves and they wouldn't be able to make it and asked for me to call them back to reschedule. I was frustrated because I thought I was considered a preferred customer by virtue of my contract. I had other problems with them as well. I called them to let them know I wanted to cancel my contract and get a refund. I have discontinued my contract because of this experience. Although it may seem early, I still have not received my check to refund the contract.
Description of Work: I have done business with Broad Ripple Heating and Air for 8 to 10 years. Service Experts took over Broad Ripple Heating and Air and took over my contract. They are supposed to come in the fall and spring to check my unit. They called in August to set up a fall appointment.
