Ed called to arrange the time and then Shawn turned up early which is fine by me! (I got a call ahead to warn me he was going to be early) He did the job, was helpful, and polite and didn't leave a mess so can't complain!
Description of Work: Shawn came in to check out why I wasn't getting very much hot water in my shower. He thought he knew what the problem was, did some checking, and he was right. He worked with my warranty company to make sure it was covered and it was and he fixed the problem. He was really low maintenance. I didn't even know he was there. He was so quiet. Problem is fixed and I have some hot water now!

George arrived on time, and was very courteous and professional the entire visit. Though appointment was only to install a replacement t-stat, he spent a few minutes helping assess a problem with a humidifier attached to our furnace, showing me what was going on and making recommendations without charge. He helped enough that I was able to work on it on my own later. Also, the company gave us full credit for a scratch-off coupon even though ours had been tampered with against the rules (toddler scratched it all off.) Though I'm sure they can afford it (or it wouldn't be on the coupon), nonetheless they didn't have to grant that credit, so this to me demonstrates their willingness to keep the customer happy.
Description of Work: Two Hundred dollars was for replacement of a very old, malfunctioning thermostat, and included the t-stat. The t-stat was an expensive model, so we think this was a good price. One Hundred Sixty Two dollars was to purchase their maintenance agreement plan, which we've done for a few years and believe is a good value for any homeowner wanting to stay ahead of problems.

Wonderful! Although the solution sounded simple, finding the problem wasn't. The toilet was rarely used, so old leaks had already dried. He made sure I understood everything he was doing, and options once he reached a diagnosis. He educated me on plumbing as he worked to ensure we could maintain our bathrooms in better condition.
Description of Work: Toilet #1: removed toilet to find seal leak, repaired seal, replaced toilet. Toilet #2: replaced wall valve and inner workings of tank.

Mediocre. The estimate seemed reasonable but the report and estimate for updates and repairs was both slow and handwritten...and so it was a little hard to read. It also was not broken out by repair scenario. After overcharging me, they did manage to get the price rounded back into shape. The person who works in the back office was the most professional person in the operation with whom I spoke. If it were not for her, I probably would have given D's or worse for the experience. While I can't vouch for the quality of their work, I can't afford to take a chance on it.
Description of Work: Did a what they call a plumbing inspection on a house I am considering purchasing.

Our furnace stopped working on the night of February 4th, an extremely cold time, near zero for several days. Our house has two furnaces, so we didn't have to leave the house completely, but it was only 50 degrees on the first floor so we had to "move" to the second floor. Since we knew the furnace was on its last legs we decided to replace it rather than repair it, but under these circumstances I still expected to have to pay emergency service fees and a premium price for the furnace. I called Broad Ripple H&AC late on 2/5, but Pete Zoog, their salesperson, got out to our house early the next morning. I felt he provided good information about our options and helped us quickly get to the right choice of a new furnace. The price was reasonable, and the supplier even had 18 months same-as-cash financing we were able to take advantage of. They came out and installed the furnace the next day (2/7) and we were back in heat in only two days.

Our garage heater stopped working and with the cold temperatures couldn't chance a frozen pipe. Mike came out on an emergency run. While he couldn't fix it directly he was able to get it working without the thermostat. The new part was ordered and communication very good.

They were 25 minutes late when I called them. They said they were about to call, been delayed in a meeting. Expected cash on completion but did not tell us ahead of time and person at the house did not have a check. Prices seemed high even for a plumber. $110 for a bathtub spout?

It was a difficult repair but the technician took the time to figure it out and get it right; we had been out of our house five days awaiting the drying of the hardwoods before a plumber could get it. We were very anxious to get back in the house and he went up and above to get it done.

First of all, they made me feel dumb for asking why they answered the phone under a different company's name. Then they promised TWICE I would receive a call from a field technician within an hour and he would give me an estimated time of arrival. That call never came. So over two hours after the original contact I called back to cancel and the lady who answered was curt and hung up on me. I may have still used their services had their phone representative offered to make it up to me, but instead she made a few lame excuses and then hung up on me. Now I've lost nearly three hours in single digit weather and I'm hoping none of my pipes freeze before another company can arrive.
Description of Work: Called on a Sunday morning because my furnace had stopped working at some point over night.

I would give them excellent reviews. It was very expensive but they were here after hours on an emergency basis. The technician was Lance Smith. He was very good and fixed the problem in an hour. Explained everything very carefully and offered me an Angie's List coupon without me even asking for it! He had all the parts with him so he didn't have to go out to get anything else.
Description of Work: He fixed my kitchen faucet that was running. I actually had to turn the water off in the house to shut it off and I was without water in the house. They came on Monday Feb 5th, which was a very cold day. They were overloaded with calls but they were able to get me in. The fellow was running late due to the number of calls. Somebody from the office called me an hour and a half before he got here to do the work.

Their price, which they were willing to quote over the phone, was excellent. They showed up as scheduled and replaced the old leaking hot water heater. The quality of the installation was excellent. It went as smoothly as one could hope. There was only one slight glitch: The person doing the job took our American Express card number for payment, but they later called back to tell us that they don't take American Express. So, we just sent them a check. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again for plumbing services.

Wow! These guys were great! We called on probably one of their busiest days of the year, told them the situation, and within four hours John was here. He was not only friendly and complete in his analysis but really took time to tell us what caused the problem so we can prevent it in the future. He wrote out detailed directions and made every effort to make sure that we learned what to do if it happens again. I could not have been happier to have water back in the house with such speed and kindness. Evette, who answered our original call, was wonderfully helpful and really listened. They are a part of Broad Ripple Heating and Cooling, this partnership helps them build a great foundation for success in the area of customer service.
Description of Work: The pipes froze and we could not find the cause of the problem, and the kitchen sink faucet decided to not work anymore (fun day!) So John heated the pipes, located the problem (the water softener tank), and replaced our faucet system.

Ted was very polite and knew what he was doing. He was also very professional, he never spoke ill of the person who did the sloppy work of using duct tape on the air ducts instead of the proper equipment. Somehow we were not on Ted's schedule, but when we called and asked why they didn't come, he squeezed us in. We graded a bit lower on price because the diagnostic fee seemed expensive.
Description of Work: We had a small room off a main room on the upstairs level that was always hot in summer and cold in winter. Ted came out and discovered that the ducts were taped together and that one duct had come loose, leaking all the air into the attic. He ordered a "Tee" and came back to install it. The room heats beautifully now.

I really liked our plumber, he was very friendly, on-time, and professional. Whenever I call the company, the representatives are also very friendly. However, I am extremely frustrated at the failure to return my phone calls.
Description of Work: A plumber came out twice, once to give an estimate on replacing a number of different faucets throughout the house and once to unclog the garbage disposal. The estimate was no-charge, and the garbage disposal was $140, which I thought was pricey but assumed I may have been charged for the work involved in preparing the estimate. However, despite four follow-up calls, I have yet to receive an estimate I requested in December.

The appointment was scheduled at noon and they showed up at 3:00 pm after we called to check that they would arrive. Upon arrival 15 minutes later everything was fixed. We had some questions and Larry came out the next day to clear up our questions. Larry is wonderful to work with.

I appreciate how quickly they responded. Though they couldn't give me an exact time, the technician called when on his way and even waited the 5 or 10 minutes for me to get back from my errand. I was charged the regular service call charge ($80) plus parts. Very happy with the quick service. They told me they work until they get all the calls done in any given day. Part of the reason I chose them for my furnace a few years back was because of this. Original price of the work then was in the middle of the 3 estimates I got, but worth the extra for this kind of quick attention.
Description of Work: Service call on one of the coldest days of the year. Furnace was acting up and house was getting colder by the hour. They came out within 2 hours of my call and got my furnace up and humming. The problem was the computer on the furnace, who knew there was one even involved!

I waited around all afternoon for John to show up and he did...at almost 7PM. I have 2 small children that go to bed at that time, so this was not good. He looked around for awhile and then told us that the thermostat upstairs was causing the heat to kick on and warm the downstairs. That was his explanation which we knew wasn't right and he was going to charge us $85! My husband insisted that this was a new problem and John finally said that it could be a damper stuck open, but he didn't check for that. He seemed annoyed that he had to go outside, get his ladder and come back in to check the ducts. Sure enough, the motor on one of our dampers was not working and the damper was stuck in the open position. I had picked this company based on Angie's List, but was very disappointed in the service we received. Had it not been for my husband, we would have been charged for a service call without finding out the problem! Maybe another technician would have been better.
Description of Work: I called in the morning to have someone come out because our heat was kicking on downstairs even though the temperature was 5 degrees higher than it's set. I wanted to find out why this was happening.

Our experience was fantastic. I'm always hesitant on calling contractors I'm not familiar with, and took a chance with BR Heating and A/C, but the company technician, David B., was absolutely great. He did a thorough check of our furnace, told us what the problem was, and what we can watch for....he even gave us a 90 day "trial" period of his service in case the furnace acted up again. I highly recommend this company...plus our furnace seems to be working correctly again.
Description of Work: Diagnostics tests. Our heater was not properly running.
