I'm going to drop Brighthouse and look go with one of their competitors. I can't take the aggravation of dealing with them anymore.
Description of Work: After many phone calls and filing a complaint with the county utility regulatory commission, they finally sent a technician in from the Carmel office to look into my ongoing service problems. He spent a good half hour looking into it and diagnosed the problem as being with their infrastructure coming into my condo building. He called for one of their repairmen to come in and fix it. The repairman came the same afternoon. He worked in the mechanical room in the basement of our building, then came up to report that the problem "took two seconds to fix". The problem is still not fixed. We are still getting audio/video blackouts, pixellation, and audio hiccups. I called the service to report that the problem continues and explained what the techs reported on Sunday (it's too much to assume they would keep reports of their service calls in a database, or anything). The call center rep was still insisting that I would need to take YET MORE TIME off work to meet their technician-- even though the problem is outside of my home. I'm fed up dealing with these people. If we had another cable company in our building, I would have dumped Brighthouse months ago. Now, it's gotten to the point, I don't care if I have to have a satellite dish and cords running through my condo. It amazes me that Brighthouse is still in business.

I will be pulling my services and finding someone else.
Description of Work: I have been having my service freezing up nightly around 8:30 pm. When I called I put on hold and Now I have been waiting for about 30 min and no one has picked up. There should be someone there all the time to help cover problems with there services.

I established service in my new home in March 2009. Since that time I have been having problems with service interruptions, remotes that don't work properly, free On Demand services that were never available and I believe their old, refurbished boxes were responsible for destroying two new televisions. I made a number of calls throughout 2009. The techs were never very helpful. They always blamed the problems on our televisions or implied we were stupid and obviously doing something wrong. I put up with the shoddy service for several months until it progressed to the point I was no longer willing to continue paying for it. (The tv would free, go blank, turn itself off SEVERAL times an evening.) I called for service AGAIN. On 12/28/09 I finally got a tech out here who seemed to know what he was doing and wasn't just in a hurry to get through and on to his next appointment. He admitted that the boxes and remotes should have been switched out and that prior techs should have been able to see that they were the problem. He fixed the box in the living room and replaced the box and remote in the master bedroom. I asked him to take the box from the second bedroom since that tv no longer works. He said a separate order would need to be placed and took care of setting that up for me. On 12/29/09 a second tech came to take the box from the second bedroom. While I was on the phone with a woman identifying herself as the call center manager to request a refund for months of shoddy service and two ruined tvs, the box in the living room stopped working. It was obvious to me that the tech had deactivated the wrong box, but she claimed there was nothing she could do and the earliest repair appointment was Saturday. (A call to customer service 15 minutes later resolved the problem as her subordinates seem to be more capable than she and simply re-activated the box.) During the call, the call center manager was condescending, lectured me, said that my problem wasn't important because we have three tvs (so who cares if the box in the living room doesn't work, right) even though there are actually only two. I was issued a credit for about one month's service, but it was done grudgingly. I'm going to investigate alternative options for cable tv service because of sick of dealing with the incompetence of Brighthouse. In the meantime, I will call each time one of the boxes so much as hiccups. I would advise anyone with another option to not use Brighthouse for cable service.
Description of Work: They provide shoddy cable television service for more than the cost of my internet/phone (with another company) and electricity altogether. If you have any trouble with the service, good luck 1) getting through to customer service; 2) getting a timely repair appointment; 3) getting a technician who knows what he's doing; and 4) getting equipment that isn't substandard. Their billing service is about the only thing they do well.

frequent loss of programs--poor response to issues I was owed a refund, originally due for payment approimately September 7, then September 18 then September 24. then September 30, then October 1, now October 7. I will believe it when I get the check. Total incompetence, bad customer service, no one knows what is happening.

Got the triple play when we moved to town 2 years ago, for $99/ mo which seemed like a good deal at the time. Recently started looking closer at the bills which started hitting $125, $135, $145 and finally $155 - with no extra services or change in service! I called to ask about this and they finally offered me the same package for $109/mo, which I thought was fair - but it wasn't to be. That operator said she would call me back to confirm, but didn't. I called to confirm a few days later and while the operator went to confirm, was disconnected - probably not a coincidence. I just got a bill for $155 and called to cancel the whole thing - the operator could NOT care less. I have no doubt that they hoped I would forget about it. I'm really shocked at such poor treatment and their complete lack of interest in their customers.

They can't find the problem. The last technician didn't even show up...then came the next morning only to take a very breif look and say, "He has to refer to Maintenance"...and he left. I had specifically requested that they switch the cable box because that is the only thing they haven't tried. He refused to do it.
Description of Work: We started HD service in May of 2008. Since then we have had innumerable problems with our picture quality. They have sent people and sent people...replaced all of the wiring...sent maintenance out a few times...and still we have these problems 9 months later! We have not wanted to go with a Satellite Dish, but I cannot imagine it being more aggrevating that this!

Local CBS station, WISH-TV was not available during a contract negotiation with Brighthouse. To compensate customers, Brighthouse gave away free computer-to-TV cables and antennas so customers could access CBS programming. Also, Brighthouse added other TV programming such as StarzKids during the blackout.
Description of Work: Provided free S cable and free antenna.

Service call because they never buried the cable the correct distance underground. The lawn mower cut it and we had no service for 4 days until they could come out. Also charged us full price for all the channels when they had a dispute with more limited channel service.

Overall very happy with service. Same quality as I had with AT&T for much less money. Only downside is that when the cable is out - so is everything (cell phone comes in handy for those times).

If I had a legitimate alternative besides satellite. Overall, I've not had good experiences with Brighthouse. Think Twice.
Description of Work: Aside from the recent issues with WISH TV. I have cable and internet with these guys. I only get about 50% of advertised download speed on internet. The picture quality of some channels is not very good to say the least. When I call, I typically have to navigate their terrible VM system and when I do finally get hold of someone, they generally cannot help or worse...are rude about the fact they cannot help.

I've been very pleased with the service they have provided. My only complaint is that we now no longer can get CBS, channel 8. It is frustrating.

The high definition reception through our cable is not nearly as good as it was with the Dish network. The DVR is not user friendly. The rewind and fast-forward controls don't work some of the times. Both the internet and the phone service have gone out on several occasions. Now, we don't get WISH TV (CBS) or the Colts games. The only good thing about Brighthouse is that it is cheap.

The digital phone service is unreliable. Calls are dropped, dialing is heard during calls and callers get messages that our number is unavailable. From the very beginning, the phone service has been awful, but we were promised that it would improve. Now that we no longer are able to get CBS due to the dispute with Bright House, we are seriously considering moving all of our communications services even if it means paying more.
Description of Work: We have digital phone, Road Runner broadband service and HD cable television through Bright House.

If you have an outage but they do not show an outage, they wait until more reports have been made before they will send out a technician.

The wireless connection and printing had to be completely reconfigured and reestablished. It was fine before Brighthouse decided to reconfigure it. We have to use them for high speed internet.
Description of Work: Our power went out last Tuesday and when it was resumed we didn't have any internet service. I called Brighthouse and let them know that day that we didn't' have any service. They couldn't come out until the next day between 2 and 4. They didn't call before they came, and we only knew they were here because the dog barked at them. The tech who came here reconfigured our broadband cable incorrectly so we also had no wireless service. He fixed the problem with our internet service through Brighthouse, but messed up the wireless. He said that our broadband hookup was configured wrong, but he reconfigured it incorrectly. Because of that, we had to call our wireless provider, who came out the next day and fixed the situation. We were charged for that because of something that Brighthouse did incorrectly.

When the weathers bad satellite TV most of the time loses signal, bright house's doesn't lose the signal so I like it better, and the office is close to me, if I need anything their right down the road. They came out, and installed it. They were really nice people, I don't have any problems with this service.

This was not a pleasant service. When they first connected everything, the telephone wouldn't work properly. After six tries they were able to fix the problem. They came earlier than scheduled and I wouldn't be home so they would call me and ask where I was. It would depend on the service I needed if I would use this company again.

This has been a very frustrating experience. If it were not for the fact that my old phone company is obnoxiously expensive, I would tell Brighthouse phone to take a very long hike!
Description of Work: When I moved from an apartment to a house, I called Brighthouse to request that my phone service be switched from my old phone company to Brighthouse. I called Brighthouse on February 18. It is now March 6, and I have not yet gotten phone hook up in my new house. I was told by my old phone company when I called them that Brighthouse did not even ask my old phone company to release my phone number until March 3. On March 1, the Brighthouse technician came to hook up my phone. He told me at that time that 911 had not be turned on and that my phone would be activated on March 3 or 4. NOT!

Brighthouse as a service provider has been ok. But my main negative experience was around the installation. The guy that came out to perform the installation was not very professional. He wasn't sure where the cable hookup was outside, and spent a decent amount of time looking through utility boxes in my and my neighbors yards. Unfortunately, it was muddy outside, so after he got done in the yard, we walked right into my family room on my white carpet and left muddy footprints. I got kind of pissed at him and asked him why he did that, and it didn't really seem to register that the muddy footprints were bad in any way. A little later he ran a coaxial cable across my back porch, and then drilled a hole in my exterior wall to run the cable into my office. There was already another coaxial cable that ran from the same box into the basement he could have piggybacked on and not had to create any new holes. But that would have been more work.
Description of Work: When we moved into our new house, we called Brighthouse to have our cable and internet installed.
