Brett McIntosh

Our experience was extremely unsatisfactory. We have one full bathroom in our home and hired Mr. McIntosh to remodel the bathroom while we were on a nine day vacation. We did have people checking in on his progress. He had very little progress the first part of the work period and seemed to have rushed the work right before we arrived home. Upon our arrival home, he called us to let us know that he had still not finished the work. Returning from our vacation, we found the work to be unacceptable. The tile was cracked and pieced back together on the wall in several places. The spacing between the tiles was very sporadic. Some tiles would have a .25 in of space between them and other tiles would have more than a .5 inch or more of space between them. The decorative tiles he placed in the tub we also not centered. He also forgot to put two shelving units into the shower. Given that the work did not meet our standards, we had him redo the project. When we returned from our vacation and saw the unsatisfactory work, he then asked us to point out to him where it was unsatisfactory. We then spent an hour pointing out tiles that were uneven, etc. Upon him redoing the project, the tile was better but still did not match up in certain places. Some tile seemed to be sunken into the wall. The grout was also different colors. He also put the tile up in one day, and then told us we could shower in it. This resulted in damp grout that he then sealed while it was damp. Mr. McIntosh did admit to mixing the grout with water (which you are not supposed to do) when he first began. We then had to hire someone else to come in and redo the grout work. We have also had to hire a plumber to come in and redo the plumbing work he had done as we discovered it was leaking and was causing mold and rotting our floor board. In addition to his poor workmanship, Mr. McIntosh was extremely unprofessional. He left our back door open overnight. He left my car on the driveway overnight. He also left an opening for two days from our bathroom down to the crawlspace where he was installing the new bathtub. Mr. McIntosh also hired help to take out the old bath tub. The help was caught watching TV on our couch in our living room by someone who was checking in on the progress of the project. Overall, I would never recommend Mr. McIntosh for anything. What he claims he can do, and what he delivered on were two very different things.
