I stopped in to shop for new carpeting for my home. I spoke to the first gentleman and told him I was just starting the process and researching options for re-carpeting my entire home. He told me what his business was all about and how they sold carpet. He showed me one I might be interested in. He quoted me the full price for the home. I asked him for the breakdown on pricing ie. Padding, carpet cost, install cost and was writing it all down. When I did this he became very offended and told me that knowledge would do me no good. I could go to Menards or Loews and they'd have different prices but all I needed was the bottom line. I said I begged to differ and thought I should know and understand these things. He said "what are you going to do just buy the carpet without having it installed". I said maybe I'd like to hire my own installers. He said "I think we're done now" and refused to continue to help me.
Description of Work: I was treated very rudely and salesman asked me to leave after I asked for the break down if the price he quotes me.
Extreme promises were made during the sales process by the sales person who was also the owner! The floor by no means is a hardwood we consider it butter. Promises were made that it would hold up with the pets in our household, within just a few days the floor was destroyed. You can drop a phone or even run your fingernail over the floor and a severe dent will occur. We had communicated the dissatisfaction immediately to the company and even took them pictures. They never would come out themselves to see the product. After much pestering they agreed to send out a floor refinisher they work with. This company could not believe the floor and stated they had never seen anthing like it and the floor had to be defective. Many flooring companies who we have called out to inspect the floor have all come out and stated something was wrong with the floor. After learning the cost to refinish the floor Bib Bob's asked us to bring money again to the table. After many months of contacting them for a resolution they offered an insulting $500 after we had spent $4500 already on an oversold floor!!! Beware of Big Bob's the quality of their products is subpar at best!!!!!!

My wife and I looked at mutiple locations for carpet but the price always seemed pricey one labor, tear-out, etc were included. Big Bob's was awesome. First off, they are a wholesaler and brought back memories of the way I remember old carpet stores. Their northeast location had many rolls of carpet just laying on the floor (discounted heavily as well). For our bedrooms, we picked from the in-stock carpet sitting on the floor. They do offer carpet through the tradtional route (i.e. looking at swatches in a book), but the pricing is not as good on those but still better than most. We had them come to measure our home (no cost) then we went back and picked the bedroom carpet from the in-stock rolls at a great price. The installation (which is priced as an all-inclusive price [not $X to move furniture, $X disposal fee, $X for steps, $X for new tack strips, etc]) which we found to be very reasonalbe went off without much of a hitch. They even threw in some additional things at no cost as well. Very professional--moved all furniture and put back where it was. Did not tear up home at all and was concious of home while working. Timely installation and great follow-up. We need to still outfit the living room, stairs and upstairs hallway and will be going back to Big Bob's.
Description of Work: Removed old carpet/pad, installed new carpet/pad in 4 bedrooms and 4 walk-in bedroom closets. Had furntiure moved as well.

They did a good job for the most part. There was a small problem in one area, we live in a modular home so I know it was difficult for him to install. They were very promt. The guy was able to install all of it in 1 day and did an excellent job aligning the flooring. I hoped they would call to see how everything turned out, but I never heard from them after the job. The price was a little high, but overall I am satisfied.
Description of Work: They laid linoleum in my home for me.

job was not completed when originally indicated though came back several days later to complete. no instruction given on care of bamboo flooring. looked ok for about 3 months and then planks started to separate. 18 months later and there are visible separation between many of the bamboo planks, loose planks, and areas that are uneven. I have contacted the store manager several times and the store manager sent out the original installer, who indicated that there were some "issues" (lack of humidity in house)but not his fault. Store manager sent over a flooring engineer who indicated that he saw some faulty installation but felt the "lack of humidity" in home was the cause of the plank shrinkage. Engineer recommended getting a humidity reader for the house. I purchased the reader in March 2010 and realize that both the installer and engineer are incorrect. My house averages 70% humidity. The store manager has not followed-up with me on the items that installer and engineer indicated should be corrected. At this time, I am considering small claims court but am starting with this below average report. I will be calling Angie's List for assistance as I would like for assistance in contacting the store manager one additional time before legal proceedings.

Response from BIG BOB'S OF INDIANAPOLIS
11-24-08 the project was started and we had to order a new stairnose to complete the project. Everything was complete except the stairnose which was installed the day it came in. As you see in her report the floor looked great the first three months - then she noticed gaps in the flooring. We did tell her that the reason for the gaps was due to the lack of humidity. With wood flooring, the humidity level in a home should be between 40% & 50%- which is the only reason the floor would get gaps in it. We sent out the Mill Inspector in March of 2010 and he noted that the home had less then 38% humidity and told the customer that her Humidifier was not working - which was the cause for the gaps in her wood floor. That is why the Mill turned down the claim. It is very important to maintane the propoer humidity levels in a home when you have wood flooring. We stand behind our materials and installation 100% - but this is a homeowner maintenance issue, which we have tried communicated to this customer.

Outstanding! The price of both materials and service was very reasonable, and the quality was first class. We'll definitely return when we have carpeting needs in the future.
Description of Work: Purchased commercial grade carpet remnant to carpet garage steps. Bob's installer handled the installation and repaired a carpet stain in our master bedroom.

They (Mike, Mike and Charlie) arrived at the scheduled time and went promptly to work. In no time the carpet and pad were removed and they started on the laminate. There were two transition pieces which had to be installed and this was done expertly. The total time involved was less than four hours and the results were beautiful!
Description of Work: They removed and hauled away the existing carpet and pad and laid laminate flooring in our bedroom.
The experience was great from the beginning to the end. The installers kept in touch with us every step of the way. They did a fine job, particularly the installer, James. Rob, the sales guy, stopped by our home to see how everything was going. The finished product looks wonderful and cost us more than $4k less than the other estimate. They did not want payment for installation until we were completely satisfied.
Description of Work: We received a quote from another company. The quote seemed extraordinarily high, so we shopped around. We were looking for vinyl plank flooring for a very large basement area, carpet, and tile for a bathroom floor. Big Bob's is a close-out store, but had exactly what we wanted in the vinyl plank. Two salesmen helped us select the tile and carpet. The next day, one of their salesmen, Rob, came out to measure and give us an estimate. The estimate was calculated on the spot! All of the flooring was installed within a week's time.
