James came to our house the day that I called to give us a quote on replacing a side door in our Garage. We needed the door taken down and replaced with a new one that would also need to be painted. When James was leaving he asked for my husbands email so that he could email the quote. We never heard from him so I guess the job was just too small for him to do Update to this review. James contacted me after he read this review. Apparently there was a miscommunication with my email. He sent me the original estimate that he sent on April 8th. After going through my inbox it was not there but it could have been my carriers fault as we had a few issues lately with them. James sent me a very nice email with a very good estimate for the work that we wanted done. We have already contracted with someone else but I would contact James again in the future if we need any more work. He handled this very professionally.

Jim did a great job patching a crack on our drywall due to the house settling. His detail to his work, his efficiency, his professionalism in cleaning around the area he worked in, providing me helpful tips in painting the patched area, and very competitive rates are several reasons why we will continue to use him for any future jobs and/or issues with our home.

James Benson was especially conscientious to do a good job, squaring up and strengthening the existing frame, and repairing its defects. He could have simply installed the new door, but he took extra time and care to do a good job.

He arrived when he said he would, ran into trouble with the hose I had purchased and went back to the store to get the right one. He went out of his way to super secure it now I feel comfortable running the washing machine and not fearing a flood.

My husband made a few changes and they were very adaptable to what he wanted them to do.

I had a bathroom that had been gutted and a tub installed by a previous person. Only 2 rows of tile had been complete and the previous person never came back. I found B & A Home Remodeling and James Benson came for a quote. He empathized with the position I was in. His quote was reasonable. He tiled the walls of tub, the floor, put in the baseboard, re-installed my sink, put in a new toilet and some fixtures. His tile work was excellent. He is very professional and always called ahead to confirm when he would be here. I plan on hiring him for additional work. I highly recommend him. He is very knowledgeable in the work he performs.

James did a great job. He installed Saltillo tile with Talavera tile detail. He did a great job. We are very happy with the final product.

I found them on Angie's List. They had pretty high ratings. I had a good experience with them. They helped me choose, and we went shopping together. I liked it that way, because then I had total control of what was being bought.

James started working for me last August when I purchased a house that was just a mess. He came and helped me design a new kitchen which totally changed the original lay out of the current kitchen. He installed a new hardwood floor thoughout the kitchen/living area, installed a gas stove (was electric before), installed new cabinets, new counters, tiled the backsplash, lighting, electrical work, dishwashers, new plumbing for new sink and garbage disposal, The original kitchen had the soffits still in place and he removed the soffits and drywalled and painted the area. James was always on time, very professional, and did great work, he always consulted with me and gave recommendations as to the best way to proceed keeping budget in mind. My kitchen looks fantastic, couldn't be happier!! James also build a hearth for my fireplace, did a great job of matching old slate tile in the entryway after the removal of a half wall and column. He also was able topatch to match and exisiting wood floor in the corner where the half wall had been before. Since then James has been back a few times, he replaced some broken pipes due to the freeze this winter. This was a busy time for all contractors but even though he was busy he still fit me in and fixed my issues. He has also been out and worked on a leaky roof, and cleaned out gutters. It seems no job is too big or small and I would recommend him to anyone. I just got my house reappraised last week and for the money I have invested in the house I have seen double the return in appraised value.

James fixed the problem as the door is working quite well. His work is visible and neat.

James has done work for me before. His work is professional. He presents a detailed bill.

James was very punctual and reasonable in the cost and scope of the needed repairs. He was efficient and careful to not mark any cabinets or flooring. Clean up was quick and easy. We are very satisfied.

The job went very well. James showed up when he said that he would and he was very neat and tidy. I had some other minor stuff around the house that needed fixing and James went ahead and did those jobs without charging me extra.

Very well done, and really finishes off our houses "completeness".

James was very professional and did an excellent job. We have an older home, and of course ran into problems replacing some of the cabinet doors. He worked to adjust the cabinet for the doors to fit properly, and it looks fantastic. He communicated well with me throughout the project, and we couldn't be happier with the results. The new cabinet doors look exactly like the other cabinet doors we were trying to match, and the new cabinet looks the same as well. This wasn't an easy task as he was trying to match cabinet doors from the 1920's. Our kitchen looks complete now. Would definitely use B&A again in the future.

They were really nice , professional guys. Once they were done with he curtains they made another unrelated repair for free. They bend over backwards to help the customer! They go out of their way to be fair.

He showed up on time for the appointment. We talked about what work we needed done and then right on the spot he gave us an estimate. Just to replace 3 boards he gave us a quote of $2,500.00. We think that the estimate pricing was way too high for something that was about 2.5 times more than other estimates we have gotten.

They were fine. He is over priced. For the custom stuff it is good but for the basic remodeling it is too high.For design work he does an excellent job. Make sure you get a written quote from him. He showed up on time but sometimes the days were wrong.

He was good and punctual, he communicated well. I had planned on having him do everything that was wood that needed repair and the other guy would just do the painting and the B & A guy, James was over here and I told him I want him to look around and find anything wood that needed to be fixed and we didn't find anything that needed to be done but it's my fault for not making sure we inspected everything closely enough but he did good work.

Good overall experience. No complaints. Did a great job.

We called James this past Friday with a few odd jobs we needed completed. He was able to come out within a half hour or so of when we spoke... very responsive. Our main concern was a kitchen faucet that needed replaced, but we also had him quote some other odd jobs. James was friendly, personable and did the job for a fair price. He also was careful to see that the sink didn't leak and he cleaned up well after himself. All in all, it was a very positive experience! Thanks to James for a job well done!!!

Understand when you purchase this that this is not a guarantee that you will get a whole day's work for the purchase price. I showed him what I was looking to have done and said he should just do as much as he could get done in the 8 hours. Instead, the handyman said that wasn't how it worked and instead gave me a quote for the 5 things I wanted to have done - which he said should be able to be finished in 2 days - that totaled over $1100. He did say he thought Angie's List might be able to give me a refund, but I never pursued that. I also couldn't afford the additional expenses he quoted over the initial purchase price, so I never called him back, and he never followed up with me either or offered to refund the amount himself, even though he had gotten paid by Angie's List.

James is quite neat, cleaned up his work refuse. Experienced carpenter, respectful.

I needed new floor covering and a new vanity installed in one of our bathrooms. I called B&A Home Remodeling, James Benson came to our home, We explained what we needed and he started the next morning. Jim took the vanity out and the old floor, and also he did some unexpected plumbing for the new vanity, Removed the toilet and molding from the bath room to lay the new flooring He also installed the new medicine cabinet. Jim installed new molding, the new vanity and reinstalled the toilet. This is an old house and he went above and beyond what we expected.. We would recommend this company to anyone.

James came over the week before Christmas to give me some estimates for work we wanted to get done before we list our house for sale. He was very honest and recommended several different things to save us money. I called him on New Year's Eve to see when he would be able to come and do the work. He said he would be available right after the holiday, so we decided on today. He arrived right on time and he got straight to work. He was very efficient and had everything done within 3 hours. This was even after we figured out the door he was repairing needed some extra work and making a trip to the hardware store. I would definitely hire him again!
