Great! Were very conscientious regarding protecting our landscape and minimizing plant loss. We were very happy with whole job and highly recommend.

Steve and his crew exceeded my expectations in every regard. His crew was punctual, professional, and did the finest work. I received estimates from 2 other contractors, and Augusta Underground's description of service was a no-brainer for me to decide on. Underground directional line boring is truly the way to go, especially if you value your yard, have trees, etc. Steve is like a violinist at his trade...I was in awe of how great of a job he did. Joel and Amber each were amazing, too. During my project, several little snags popped up (no fault of Augusta Underground) but they quickly fixed them and allowed the project to be done AHEAD of schedule. They took no shortcuts. When they were done working on my property, the yard looked better than before they came. They removed field stones, fixed the ground that Citizens screwed up when they installed the sewer, and cleaned and swept up everything. I am very much a DIY person/mechanic, but this project was above the scope of my abilities. I was apprehensive about hiring a contractor, as I'd never done this before. Being cynical, I was very pleasantly surprised at the end result. They took the time to explain things to me and made me feel very comfortable. They exceeded all of my expectations, and I would gladly hire Augusta Underground to complete another project if I needed their service. Truly 110% satisfied.
Description of Work: Steve and his crew did an outstanding job bringing my house up to snuff for the Indianapolis Septic Tank Elimination Program. (I have my thoughts on this program, but that's another point. That being said, I wasn't excited to have to have this work done in the first place). He removed (and filled) my existing septic tank, installed the mastication pump, connected, and ensured the system was operating correctly. Directional line boring is one the coolest things, if you've never seen it before. Steve and his professional crew explained to me the entire process and kept me actively involved in their work.

I had contacted Matt Wharff of Wharff Excavating for a quote for replacing my sewer line. Because he was overwhelmed with an already tight schedule, he contacted Augusta Underground who arrived the next day and performed the repair. Steve, the owner of Augusta, answered all of my questions. They took care with the plants that were in their way. In order to place the new line, they had to remove a small tree and trim up two others. They also removed some hostas and left them with their dirt balls for me to replant. They leveled all of the soil. I was really impressed with their work ethic.

We had a blockage in the main sewer line going from the house to the street. We initially got a bid from a "hard-sell" chain place that said we needed to replace the entire line and that it would be about $ 7,300. We called a locally owned company--Augusta Underground and they came out the same day and installed the access riser (the other guys wanted to charge about 2 1/2 times the amount Augusta bid for the riser). Augusta wanted to look at the sewer line before determining whether the line needed replacing. The next day they brought the drain cleaning machine and a camera. After clearing the line they inspected it and determined that the lines were fine and should last several more years. We were able to watch the camera inspection as they were doing the job. Augusta was very professional and honest. They didn't try to hard sell. It is hard to find a company you can trust these days. We definitely recommend their services and will use them again if needed.

They did an AMAZING job. My neighbors all went with a different company, but I took a chance with Augusta. Months later my yard has no scarring and they even followed up close to a year later to make sure all was in order. I recommend them to anyone.
From the first phone call, they were very prompt & professional. Steve explained every step of the process at the first visit. They called about 2 weeks in advance to schedule and completed the job thoroughly in 1 day. The process required digging a trench in the front yard which they filled and leveled very neatly. They left absolutely no mess. The septic tank is under our brick patio, and they had to remove some bricks to access the lid & collar to pump and "abandon" the tank. They replaced the bricks, some of which were missing before this job, and they matched them very well. The patio actually looks better in the area they repaired than it did before they started. What a nice surprise! Augusta was not the least expensive estimate but well worth it and we are so glad we chose them.

The crew were friendly, got along with each other, and were efficient. The work was done in a couple hours. I was concerned the yard would be torn up due to the use of excavating equipment, but other than the hole, there is nothing damaged. They filled in with gravel, and topped and smoothed out good top soil so that it was ready for seed. A great job.

The whole experience was positive, and my wife and I felt relieved that we had chosen Augusta to evaluate the drains. I can't recommend Steve and his company enough.
Description of Work: Steve showed up on Saturday with a helper at the scheduled time, and went right to work providing us an evaluation of the drainage system on a prospective home (home we have a purchase agreement on). We were concerned with the dampness in the yard, and after an inspection the standing water in the crawl space. Steve was very knowledgeable and professional. He inspired confidence. Steve was very easy to talk to, and I really felt like he was looking out for us (being that we know nothing about drainage). Steve was not in a hurry, answered all our questions and agreed to provide us with an estimate by mid next week. I could not be happier with Augusta Underground, and once we get the estimate if we can negotiate with the buyer to purchase the house we will have the new drain system installed.

Explained the work thoroughly during estimate. Was available for questions before the work was done. Did a solid and clean job. They even filled in holes the gas company left in our yard while they were doing their thing. When entering our neighborhood, you see many Augusta Underground signs. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Decommissioned septic tank and dug for new line to city water connect.
Steve and crew were awesome. A camera was used to examine and trace the sewer line and they even marked the gas and water lines that ran under the driveway prior to starting, which the 811 service failed to do (811 only marked the grass). While running the camera there were too many bends between an easy to access 3inch cleanout and pipe stack exiting the house, so Steve climbed deep into the crawlspace to access a partially buried 3 inch clean out that followed the cast iron pipe outside the house. He got the camera into the cast iron and noticed heavy corrosion and some root intrusion where the cast iron met clay pipe to run to the main. I should also mention the cast iron pipe straddled the gas meter pipes... The drain lines in our house are all PVC, and Steve gave the option to stick with the original plan and add the cleanout to where the cast iron and clay lines meet or for an extra $500, cut out the old pipe stack and make a new sewer exit hole to the outside, bypassing the 44 year old failing cast iron. Only wanting to do this once and seeing the video of the cast iron, I was excited about the new plan. The Augusta crew worked in unison, one guy was cutting an rerouting the inside 3inch PVC main drain pipes while the others started cutting, jack hammering and digging down to the sewer line in the concrete drive. After a few hours, a hole was ready to be punched in the crawlspace block wall to join the new now 4inch indoor main drain pipe to the new outdoor 6 inch PVC which followed a ~8 foot span of 6 inch PCV to a rubber boot connecting the PVC to the clay pipe. The crew then backfilled the hole with a literal dump truck load of gravel, and packed everything down. The lines were then examined by camera and all was well. Next, concrete was laid ~4inches deep (same as rest of driveway) and they even cutout and filled some of the cracks that were unrelated to the project but were touching the hole. I plan to have Augusta setup a pipe cleaning now that a 6 inch blade can be used to cut some mild root and debris. And eventually bore a sump pump line away from the house. These guys went above and beyond what I was expecting, some of the crew even stuck around about an hour or so after the concrete was leveled to add brush lines that match the driveway concrete and cleaned everything. My house and driveway were cleaner when Augusta left than when they came, including mud on the basement stairs that I tracked onto the carpet. The pricing was by the job not the hour which makes the extra time they stayed more impressive.

emptied septic tank. excavated new line from home to sanitary sewer. filled with gravel and dirt. leveled. friendly workers.
Description of Work: connected home to new sanitary sewer
Steve set up an appointment for an estimate, arrived exactly on time and gave a thorough explanation of what would be done. He emphasized that he would try not to disturb shrubs near the house and go directly to the city hookup. He arrived on time to do the job with his two assistants. We waited for a septic company to come and drain the septic tank. He warned me that I couldn't use water for a couple of hours and proceeded to dig a trench, break up the cap of the old septic tank, filling both with crushed stone. He made the connection with no disturbance of shrubs around the house. Called the city inspector to check it out, then filled in the trench. He then proceeded to break up the dirt with a tiller to make a smooth top ready for planting seed. He and his workers were extremely neat and cleaned up the yard and driveway thoroughly. He explained what he was doing throughout the process, which was completed in just a few hours. I was very impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. He obviously takes great pride in his work and I would definitely recommend him highly!

For some time, I'd been noticing a noise that sounded a little like water was running, but nothing was showing up on the meter in my basement, and there wasn't any leak in the house, so I didn't think much of it. Until the noise quickly grew to sounding like I had the outside tap fully on. Called Carmel, and they came out and turned the water off at the curb and told me I had a leak somewhere between the curbstop and the meter in my basement. So I called Mr Plumber, Service Plus, and Augusta Underground. Mr Plumber came out and told me I would have move my meter from in the basement to a new pit outside, along with fixing the pipe, and it would cost me ~$6300. Service Plus also came out, said they checked with Carmel, and I'd have to move the meter, and it would cost ~$5700 after a discount if I also purchased their yearly maintenance plan at the same time. Steve from Augusta came out, came to the same conclusion as the others that the house / ground had settled over time, bent the pipe and caused a leak. But he'd get back to me with a quote later in the day after checking out what Carmel's regulations where. Later in the day came and a quote for $1800. Needless to say I was shocked, and calling them back, they explained that I did NOT have to have the meter moved, and they'd actually talked to Carmel. I don't want to look a $4000 gift horse in the mouth, but I just had to know, so I called and left a message for Jake / Jack (?) at Carmel. Surprisingly he got back to me the very next morning (12/31), and let me know that No, I did not need to move the meter! Told Augusta right away, lets get it done. They called in emergency utility line marking, which showed up just about right after I got off the phone with them. Saturday came and Steve and a co-worker showed up, spent a fair amount of time digging down to the pipe, then got it fixed in a hurry. After a quick lunch break, verification that there were no leaks, they got the basement wall all sealed up, filled the hole back up, while compressing the dirt back in, and getting everything back in shape. All told, they were here for probably about 4 hours, and after a week without water, I'm good to go again. Perhaps Mr Plumber or Service Plus might have been cheaper, or gotten things done sooner / faster, but the fact was they didn't even know what the local regulations where and if I'd gone with one of them, I'd be out $4k more. Steve was real nice, very energetic. We talked about some other drainage issues afterwords and he game me some great advice and some things I need to do in that regards also. Very much would do business with them again.

After I got a $275 water bill xmas eve day and then after some looking narrowed it down to what I thought was a water leak externally. I called Augusta to see if they could give my estimate. They squeezed me in after an all day job to come look at issue. Joel walked through yard and in house and did agree it sounded like a leak. He answered all my question and was very knowledgeable about what he expected to find and said I would have quote next morning. I got quote as promised and a call from Heather at their office saying that if I agreed they could get work me in new years eve day, they understood the needed urgency (sump pump running every 5 minutes). I was very comfortable with company so agreed. They came next day at agreed time and went to work. It went VERY smooth..Steve (owner) and Joel worked removing bush to get to area and laying boards for excavator..after complete you can't even tell they worked on house. Joel's explanation of what he thought may have happen to cause leak proved dead on and they were able to just repair rather than have to push new water line ($1000+ more). Steve and Joel kept me informed during the whole process and I made decisions as necessary. I was very happy with their work and will recommend them to any needing this kind of service or if I do in future.
Description of Work: Found and fixed a external main water line leak
We had a clogged sewer cleanout that we had assessed by multiple companies. All but Augusta were only able to pass their camera a limited distance where they each identified an impassible defect in our lateral line. Although the identified problem is a true defect that will eventually require repair, it was not the primary cause or our clog. We suspected the problem was further downstream because we had had it augered the week before and the problem was well past the problem identified by the cameras. Each company bid to replace the defective section with the caveat that a larger problem may very well lie downstream. Unlike the other companies, Augusta was able to pass their camera past the smaller defect and identify the primary problem, which was actually in a shared line that was not our primary responsibility. Had it not been for their assessment, we would have paid thousands of dollars to fix a secondary problem only to learn that there was a bigger problem instead. Augusta was contracted to place a new common cleanout which was completed in an expedient and professional manner. I in no way intend to disparage the other companies, but Augusta's ability to go beyond made a huge economic difference to us.

We purchased our home 5 years ago and were originally relieved that the previously owner had replaced a crumbling clay sewer pipe in the yard with new PVC. Unfortunately, she hired a general contractor who completely screwed up the job and would not take responsibility for repairing it. Permits were on file, but it was not up to code (e.g., pipe lacked tracer line). The line had a belly in it and the sewer backed up into our basement laundry room repeatedly. Yuck. We had two companies out and were told that the only way to fix it would be to spend $25,000 to replace the line from the house to the street. We balked at the price and were unconvinced it was necessary to replace the entire line based on what we could see in any one of the 6 times the cameras were snaked through. However, after spending $5000 over 5 years to rebuild the retaining wall destroyed by the original inept contractor (who did an equally poor job putting back the original wall), regularly jetting out the sewer line at $250 a pop several times a year, and dealing with multiple back-ups, we called several companies to get an estimate for repairs. We decided to go with Augusta after talking to three companies. I was incredibly impressed with the thought, energy, and creativity that Steve put into solving our sewer problems. He brought in a plumber, and together they crafted an elegant plan to relocate where the sewer line exited the house. This saved us $1000s, because the original line exited under our concrete porch and retaining wall. (Digging it up would have likely have cracked the porch and required us to rebuild the retaining wall again.) The upstairs sewer lines were re-routed and a sewer pump/grinder was installed in the basement that feeds into the new exit line. A new sewer line was installed in the yard with the appropriate amount of drop to carry the waste water to the existing pipe at the edge of the yard, where ample drop allows it to flow into the city sewer. The crew who did the job were polite, friendly, and professional. They cleaned-up the basement area (where they had to jackhammer out concrete to place the pump) and did their best to re-level the yard. They came back out to deal with a minor problem that developed following the work and paid for the repair. I am completely impressed with this company and would highly recommend them to anyone in need of sewer work.
Description of Work: Fixed our headache of a sewer system by: 1) relocating where the sewer pipe exits our house; 2) placing a new sewer line with the appropriate amount of drop; and 3) installing a pump and grinder for the basement, connecting it with the new lines.

Excellent!! Worth the wait (sometimes booked out a bit for estimate and work- probably because they are SO GOOD!). Despite many challenges (random pipes, buried irrigation, electric, AC etc.) they got the job done and it looks fabulous! NO damage to anything at all- The Augusta team was meticulous and thorough- did most of the work by hand given poor accessibility in my yard. They were even so kind as to move the concrete scrap from the AC pad a fair distance to where I could use it to prevent errosion. I couldn't be happier. Looking forward to the next rain practically! They explained what they were doing and why- and were always here for estimates and work on time. I have a large yard with more future projects and will certainly call on Augusta going forward. FIVE STARS!
Description of Work: Regraded large area at back and side of house- areas were too high above foundation and too low in other areas causing water to enter cinderblock foundation and place considerable pressure on basement walls. Also removed incorrectly sloped cement AC pad (also was causing water issues).
Augusta Underground is absolutely one of the best companies I have ever worked with! It is hard to get on their schedule due to the amount of work they get and the requirement of having a somewhat dry yard to work with. This was made worse due to the historical rainfall we experienced this summer. It was absolutely worth the wait! They completed all work exactly as specified and went out of their way at every single step to ensure that the best solution was in place. In a few areas they ended up correcting items that weren't exactly on the contract, because they wanted it to be correct the first time and wanted a happy customer. I had a water coming in through multiple places in my basement during heavy rainstorms, and my sump pump was basically running continuously for two months. Afterwards, I have a well thought out, engineered solution that can now meet the demand of even the heaviest rainstorm with the ability to add additional capacity to the system, if I someday get a bigger sump pump. Another great thing about Augusta is their commitment to taking care of your home and lawn, as if it is their own. Everyday they picked up all trash, removed any waste, and even picked up any small rocks in the yard from digging. They did a beautiful job restoring my yard, and after about a month for the grass to grow back you can't even tell I had work done. After the job, I couldn't thank them enough for the excellent work, as they turned my nightmare water issues into something I don't have to worry about anymore. I highly recommend using these guys for any excavation work you need done. There are probably cheaper companies out there, but wouldn't you rather have a job completed the first time and above expectations?
Description of Work: They replaced four window wells that were built incorrectly by the original builder in 2000 (we moved-in in March of 2015). They also redid all of the piping for the downspouts in the yard (required cutting and backfilling the driveway) and the sump pump piping, which were also all originally done incorrectly and were failing in multiple areas. This was a major project requiring 3.5 full days of work for 3-4 men per day, plus heavy machinery. Additionally, they added a tri-axle dump truck worth of topsoil to fix and area of the yard where the grade was incorrect and reseeded everything.

The crew was prompt, efficient, polite -- got the job and left out yard in great condition. We trusted them completely.
Description of Work: Hooked our property to the city sewer.
The job progressed just as Steve had explained it would go when we requested the estimate. The team was very polite and courteous and answered all questions I had as the job progressed. We had been told that the job would take 2 days and the job was finished in that time frame. Our landscaping incurred no permanent damage or disruption. The line was tunneled in the ground to the grinder; holes were filled and leveled and the perennials were replanted. I would highly recommend Steve and his company.
Description of Work: Our home needed to be connected to the city sewer line. Augusta Underground did that work along with filling the old septic tank.

Steve was very good at explaining all of the details involved. They helped us get everything set up for the delivery of the grinder. Just a few days later they installed it. They were here early as they said they would be and worked throughout the day non-stop. There were a total of 3 workers. They used a boring method to where no trench was dug it was all underground. The inspector came the next day and gave his approval then they finished putting back all of the dirt and made sure it was level. By noon on the second day they were completely done with the work. It took about a day and a half, no mess was left behind.
Description of Work: They installed a sewer grinder.
