All work was done in a timely and excellent manner. They removed several sections of the collapsed original piping and replaced it with rigid pvc. Augusta arranged for all underground utility markings, secured all necessary permits and offered several solutions to the problem. Since the work was being done in extreme drought conditions, the original plan to hand dig the entire line looked to be in jeopardy. But a solution was found, and the team did an excellent job in attempting to save all disturbed grass when the sod was refilled. An underground lawn sprinkler was damaged during the work and was immediately replaced at no additional charge. The entire area was raked, cleaned and all sod replaced prior to their departure. The team worked hard throughout the day and courteously replied to all questions during the process. We would not hesitate to again use the services of Augusta Underground.
Description of Work: Augusta Underground replaced a storm sewer line from the sump pump discharge at the house to the street storm sewer. They also replaced the downspout underground tie ins to the line with rigid pvc.

The work crew (Brian, Joel and Victor) took care to verify the location of utilities when they arrived on site and confirm the job with Steve. They used our existing drain grate, sawed through the concrete to the side of the drive with a nice clean cut and laid pipe alongside to a very neat collector box. All the digging and cutting was done with a minimum of dust and after they poured new concrete you could hardly tell anything was done. They dug the trench alongside the driveway neatly and by hand to accommodate plants and fence. It was a 75 foot trench completed by shovel and pickaxe to minimize the disturbance to the property. They kept us informed and were extremely neat, hard-working and professional. The concrete patch was impressive! Hats off to these guys! We highly recommend Augusta Underground; these guys know their stuff.
Description of Work: We own an older home that at one time had a driveway drain. Commonly, these went into the home drain system and of course it was plugged years ago to comply with new code regarding storm runoff. The french drain installed back then had finally failed and our driveway always flooded and after a heavy rain was underwater for days. Steve came out and gave an estimate and was very knowledgeable about our options; we decided to have them cut a section from the concrete driveway and lay pipe to drain down toward the street.
A local sewer cleaning company informed me that I had a damaged sewer line and it would need to be replaced. I contacted Augusta Underground (AU)--among other companies--to provide a comparative quotation. AU was prompt to schedule a visit and took the initiative to video my sewer line and came to the conclusion that the sewer line was intact and would NOT need to be replaced. There was no charge whatsoever--and they were very friendly and informative. Naturally, with this kind of business approach--you might expect this company to go broke. However--quite the contrary--my guess is they are successful because they are straight and honest with people. That said--I highly recommend this company--if for nothing more that their business ethics.

I received three separate estimates and they were the highest by a few hundred dollars. But, they were using more material and could get the job scheduled sooner. All phases of the job were completed on time as promised. Everyone was friendly and helpful. And most important, we now have grass growing back in less than two weeks after completion.
Description of Work: Had lawn on all four sides of home graded and seeded. This include adding about two inches of topsoil, repairing poor drainage at downspout, and correcting the drainage ditch at the rear of the property line.

Augusta did just an absolutely outstanding job for us. I contacted Augusta based on the almost exclusive "A" ratings they received on Angie's List, and the very positive comments that went with those ratings...and I have to say that they easily met and even exceeded my expectations. The owner, Steve Lowry, came and provided the estimate, and it was quickly apparent, that he was extremely knowledgeable, and that he sincerely cared about doing a quality job. I was hopeful that when I received their estimate they would be competitive with the first estimate I had received from a large "rooter" type company, and I was very pleased when their estimate came in at close to only 60% of the larger company's bid. ($3000 vs $5200) We agreed on a date for the work to be done (just a couple of days after signing) and as promised their crew of three came this morning. They were very personable and did a great job of informing us of what to expect for the day. Brian, who operated the digging equipment and boring machine, has been with Steve, and this company, for 14 of the 15 years he has been in business, and the crew worked extremely well together...showing that they were experienced in the work they were doing, and in working with each other. Contrary to another large "plumber/rooter" type company who replaced my sewer line a few years ago, Augusta was very careful to disturb as little lawn as possible, including putting 4x8 sheets of plywood on the grass, where they then put the dirt from the hole they had to dig for the boring and meter pit. Consequently, when they backfilled, I have only a very small area of my yard that shows any signs of the work done. As well, in the basement where they needed to jack hammer the floor to bring the new line in, they kept the hole to an absolute minimum of about 12 x 18 inches. They were also careful to put tarps down in the finished portion of our basement (which they had to pass through), and did an excellent job of cleaning up the area where the jack hammering took place. Each of the crew who had to come into the house, either removed their shoes or put paper booties on over their shoes. Steve came during the job to check on things and even provided me with some consultation on my sewer situation while he was here. This is a small company that knows what they are doing, and that cares very much about providing a quality job at a reasonable price. I do not hesitate in the least in recommending them highly. This is a company that you want to do business with.
Description of Work: We had developed a leak in the 70 year old water line running from our house to the water main in the street. Augusta identified the problem and provided a free estimate . They then replaced the water line, and installed a meter pit in the yard, as is now required by Citizens Water in Indianapolis. They located the existing line , and then used their boring machine to place the new line without having to trench the entire route of the line. The water line entry into our house was from under the basement foundation on the far side of our basement, where the near side is a finished room. In order to connect the new line to existing plumbing Augusta had to open a small hole in the basement floor where the meter previously existed. The length of the bore was approximately 90 feet.

We have a large drain in our back yard that provides drainage for a number of yards in our subdivision. It was installed almost 20 years ago, and the developer did a shoddy job, leading to erosion around the drain and creating dangerous holes. We got estimates from three companies that do this type of work. Augusta provided the most-detailed estimate, and their price was the lowest -- thousands less than one company estimated. Augusta just did the work today, so only time will tell how well it holds up. But the head workman told me we shouldn't have any problems with it in the future, and everything about their work suggests to me that the problem will be solved.

I really appreciate Augusta Underground's prompt response to my situation. They were very accommodating and they even had a coupon to help waylay the cost. Problem solved...I just need to plant some grass seed.
Description of Work: In November, 2011 I decided to fill an annoying dip in my back yard. Well the dip was an actual hole, an abandoned septic tank. I had to make a few calls before I actually found out what it was. I called about 3-4 companies from Angie's List and found that most companies install septic tanks not abandon them. After making an appointment to have the job appraised, they told me what was going to happen to remedy the problem. They said that they would check the hole for plumbing that may be hooked up, this would have been an additional expense. They explained that the hole would be filled with sand, some bricks from my yard, some gravel and dirt. There was no plumbing involved. So they did the job while I was at work, so that I wouldn't have to leave early. Mr. Cody Cook was waiting when I arrived from work so that I could inspect the work and sign off on their work.

Great job at a great price. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone have sewer problems.
Description of Work: I was very pleased with the responsiveness and work this company did for me. Using a camera, I saw the backup of my sewer lines. Unfortunately, I didn't sign the agreement immediately and nothing worked. They explained to me how I could get by until my scheduled date. I was lucky in that an opening happened before that date and they were able to do the job in a day. They did an excellent job, going around a tree so as not to damage the root syste (at no extra charge) and left enough dirt to level out the following year to reseed.
We could not have been more pleased with the quality of the work done, the professionalism of the work team, the effectiveness of the front office in getting work scheduled, and the overall customer focus of the Augusta Underground team. After another sewer company had made two earlier attempts to clear the line, only to have it stop up again after a few hours, I searched Angies List and found Augusta Underground. Augusta responded right away with the TV equipment and "cutter" to clear the line if needed. They knew of the earlier attempts to clear the line and hoped it would still be clear enough for the TV viewing (with no charge for the cutter work if it was not needed). They did have to clear the line again to be able to make the examination. They explained that one should not expect for a 3-inch cutting blade to clear the interior 3-inch drain and then expand upon reaching the 6-inch clay exterior drain and clear out 75 feet or more of roots - it would only beat them around. Within a two days the exterior team installed the exterior access line. They were extraordinarily attentive to protecting the lawn and landscaping, using plywood sheets to eliminate lawn damage by the backhoe tracks. They then cleared the roots from the line. The next day the interior crew completed the repair work on the cast iron line beneath the basement floor. The work teams cleaned up carefully. Most of all we appreciated Augusta Unground sensitivity to our need, their prompt response, and their top notch work. We had already been without use of our sewer system for almost a week while we waited for the other company to clear the line.
Description of Work: My main sewer line was backing up into my basement through the floor drain. Augusta Underground made a special effort to identify and fix the problem. (Another company had made two unnecessary earlier attempts.) They cleared the drain and used a TV system to examine the line. They identified a major root blockage in the 6 inch clay tile drain which runs from my basement to the main sewer line. They also found a 3-inch hole in the 3-inch cast iron drain line which runs beneath my basement floor. Shortly thereafter they provided an estimate for two major tasks: 1) installing an exterior access line to provide access to the exterior clay tile, and 2) repairing the cast iron line by digging about 4 feet through the basement floor. Augusta made special accommodations to complete the job quickly. The exterior access line required entrenching a 12 foot deep hole, affixing a vertical access line, clearing the roots from the line, and backfilling the hole. The interior work required breaking through a 4x4 foot square of the basement floor, repairing the hole in the line, backfilling with gravel, and pouring concrete to level the floor.

Heather, the main receptionist for Augusta Underground was always a pleasure to speak with. She was very thorough. I appreciated that I woudl ask for an estimate on something and they woudl come back with an updated recommendation as to what I should do. I felt they were looking out for my behalf. The work started and was completed ahead of time. I would definately work with Augusta Underground again.
Description of Work: I ended up having them redirect drainage away from my house by installing pipe in the front yard and having the drainage run out to the street.. They also created what I would call a kind of valley to naturally direct runoff away from the house.

The work was done quickly and professionally. If your running a water or sewer line, Augusta seems like the way to go. They specialize in this type of work and own the directional drilling equipment to do it. The other 2 quotes I got were about 50% more than Augusta charged. Many other companies will dig a trench the whole length of the run, tearing up a lot of your yard. Augusta did most of the digging horizontally, not tearing up the surface of my yard.

Augusta were efficient and professional. Basically they identified the problems and fixed them in a timely fashion. They left no mess and were happy to answer any question. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I also had $150.00 Angie's discount even though I forgot to ask for it after the contract was signed.
Description of Work: Augusta initially came out and looked the problem - an underground broken exterior drain pipe we had discovered. Also we were having some recent water in basement. They sent a crew of two to evaluate and run a camera through all the underground lines and drainpipes, who then also found another broken line unbeknown to us. They also made a suggestion regarding our patio and basement water. The work consisted of digging out the broken pipes by hand , replacing/repairing the blockages and checking there were no more blocks and then filling back in with gravel and earth. One breakage was as a result of a fence post installed. Since they didn't want to take the fence apart and damage it, they re-routed that line a little also.

Our sump was over-working and noticed that line was probably clogged. Mr Lowry came and dug pit to see if clog was near house and determined was further out in yard. He was very professional and gave good explanation of was was problem and what needed to be done to correct. He gave an estimate and discussed getting permits if needed. His office kept in contact with us during this process to check on permits, since we were out of town during this time. His crew arrived on time and completed work, taking care to replace sod that needed to be disturbed, were efficient and professional. We were very pleased with the work that was done.

Noticed leak from water shut off in basement. Had water company check and was told may need water line replaced. Mr Lowry came and said could try to replace valve first, if didn't correct then would need to dig outside to see if was close to house. He gave estimates for digging close to house and for replacing whole line. He explained that some shrubs would be dug up during this process. His crew arrived on time and worked efficiently, are very pleasant and professional. Hope we don't have to use them again but would not hesitate to call them if another problem arises.

Augusta Underground performed a routine inspection of the sewer line.
Description of Work: After the basement toilet backed up I had a "large company" out for a cleaning. The sewer line was cleaned but their technician stated we should have the line looked at with their camera system. The second rep from this large company showed me (with the camera) areas of the line that have moved over the years and was causing "material" to catch and build up. He stated that we should have the entire sewer line replaced for the cost of $5,200. I received a second opinion from another "large company" stating the same exact thing but they also recommended a sump pump be installed for a grand total of $6,500. I called Augusta to get a third opinion. They sent out their crew with the camera system. Augusta stated that the line was normal for this old of a house and he absolutely did not see any point at this time to replace the sewer line. He seemed honest and generally concerned for me. I respected his opinion, which in the end saved me a lot of money and my front yard.

When I called to find out if this company could find out where my underground drains for my gutters were plugged I was put off by the very gruff women who made the appointment. I was also disappointed to find out that the Angies List coupon would not apply unless it was used for a more extensive repair job. In fact the women on the phone already seemed to be selling me a repair job, before they came out to diagnose the problem. I had some trepidation about dealing with this company based on the initial contact, however Brian and Joe who came out to do the work were a delight to work with. They were willing to spend as much time as it took to scope out my clogged drains and they gave me a lot of good advice on how to fix the problem and even told me where to buy the materials I would need. I was afraid I was going to get a hard sell at the end for them to fix the problem, but there was none at all. I hope my drains don't clog again, but I would not hesitate to call Augusta Underground if they did.

Excellent!!! Steve (owner) spent several hours analyzing the problem and discussing options with us. He was able to come up with a much less expensive solution that we had originally proposed. He was open to suggestions and working with us to solve the problem. We obtained other quotes for the job. We hired Augusta because we liked Steve's open-ness to collaboration with us, since we know that whenever we do anything to our home we always run into some unforeseen surprises. We also liked the fact that Steve would be on the actual job and very hands-on. We could not have been happier with the work. Heather, the office manager, was very helpful in working the schedule to accommodate us. Steve and his crew (Brian and Joe) were careful and meticulous about every step of the job. We were concerned, given the nature of this job, that this would be a big mess. It was not. They made sure their heavy equipment was not damaging our yard. They used hand tools and worked carefully to avoid damaging existing irrigation system pipes and cables...etc. They covered deck furniture and back windows with plastic in case of concrete dust. They truly approached the job as if it were their own home, something we can't say for many contractors. All unanticipated problems uncovered during the course of the project were solved professionally and to our satisfaction. Best of all, the work seems to have solved our water problem. We are very particular and would definitely hire them again. We hirely recommend them to anyone in need of their expertise.
Description of Work: Steve (owner) evaluated a complex water drainage problem that caused backyard and basement flooding. The solutions and work performed included re-leveling of the ground along the side of our house to allow water to naturally flow to the street and installation of a new 4" PVC drainage system that connected basement sump pump, pool deck drains, gutter downspouts, and previously installed beehive. The new drainage system work required digging a trench in our yard and cutting a 70 foot long 6 inch wide channel into our concrete pool deck (from the garage wall to the yard) and carefully verifying along the way that the water would flow naturally through the system. As the work progressed Steve discovered other problems unrelated to the original project and made several recommendations. After creating the new drainage system, the concrete work was done to our specifications to accommodate the resurfacing of the deck finish to be done next spring.

We live in a 100+ year old house and we were planning a large project. We had no idea where the sewer line ran. They came out ran the camera, started marked the yard and hit a root ball about 1/4 down the line. They sent someone out to clean the line and we found out due to the design of the sewer line it could not be cleaned out. We had them come out 3-4 months later to re-camera because they had not left us the video from the first one. This time they could not even get the camera down the line. They offered us a full refund. We refused because they had done some work that had been very helpful. We did accept $100 refund. The original price of $250 to camera and mark was by far the best I came across. Some companies want 3X the amount of money for the same work. They are honest and were very helpful. Hire them and you won't be sorry.
Description of Work: We hired them to camera our sewer line and mark where the sewer line runs in the yard.
