Augusta Underground came out and bored a water line into my crawl space and dug a pit for the water meter and got me connected to city water. My well pump quit working and it was determined that it would be more expensive to fix the well, than it would be to connect to city water! So, my well contractor contacted Augusta Underground to perform the connection work on my behalf. The digging crew called me when they were on their way, showed up on time, and got right to work. The three guys, Brian, Joel, and Victor were very professional and patient with me, explaining everything as they progressed. They did a great job, and were able to help me work around a tough meeting schedule on the second day, to coordinate the final connection, after the water company did their thing. Steve came back and made the final connection for me and all is working great! I have water! Everyone who showed up at my house was courteous, professional, and very considerate. They allowed me to take some pictures, and were patient explaining eveything to me. I am very grateful to every one at Augusta for their help in restoring my water service! Heather in the office was very great making all the arrangements and keeping me 'in the know' as each step progressed. I would definitely call Augusta Underground again to work at my home, and would recommend them to anyone who asks!

Steve and his staff are great people. They helped us through a difficult project of finding and fixing numerous drain pipes on a 90 year old estate. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again and I highly recommend them to anyone needing excavation, directional drilling, sewer/water work and grading. They are honest and reliable! Qualities very hard to find in any business.
Description of Work: I hired this company to excavate the sewer and drain pipes exiting my house 14' below grade and replace them all the way down to the old septic tank. They also relocated my pump grinder from a position close to the house to the area of the old septic tank. The also performed directional drilling to the sewer. I then hired the company to run a new water line for city water.

Augusta's crew of three arrived about 9 am with their equipment and finished at about 7 pm. The house was without sewer service for about 3 hours. They replaced about 80 feet of sewer line from just inside the house, through the footer, under the side walk, then underground until they reconnected to the city sewer line. They used rubber mats to minimize damage to the lawn from their equipment, dug the required trench, bored a hole under the sidewalk then installed the new PVC sewer line. The new line was laid in gravel, appropriately sloped and included a tracer line back to the new 6 inch cleanout. They also coordinated with Noblesville City inspectors who were out several times during the day. Once the inspector had approved the installation, they backfilled the trench using their equipment to compact the backfill along with adding water to increase the compaction. They then leveled the backfill leaving a small overfill to allow for settling and used a roto-tiller to break up any clumps. When they finished, it was barely obvious what extensive work had been done. Steve, the owner, followed up by phone the next day to ensure that everything had been completed to our satisfaction. Considering the amount of work that was done, the amount charged was fair and competative with the other quote. What I was most pleased with was the company's responsiveness, willingnes to address all my concerns, their obvious expertise, the quality of their work, and attention to detail. Several neighbors commented that when they were finished it was barely obvious that the work had been done.
Description of Work: After having sewer line problems, the 38 year old line was cleaned by another contractor who said I would have to have my sewer tile replaced and gave me rough estimates for doing so. After reviewing Angies List, I contacted Augusta Underground for a second opinion. Brian and Joel came out quickly to do a video of the entire line, confirmed what the prevoious contractor had said and added that the line cleaning was not effective because only a 4" cleanout was available to clean a 6" tile sewer line. They left a DVD with me then said that their office personnel would e-mail an estimate for sewer line replacement plus installation of a 6 inch cleanout. This estimate was promptly received which I reviewed along with their DVD video of the existing sewer line. This, along with conversations with Noblesville City personnel, generated lots of questions which were communicated to Augusta via e-mail. Rather than provide answers via e-mail, Steve, the owner, came out personally to answer my questions and review the needed work. He even went into my home's crawlspace to see how the sewer line exited the house. I was very impressed with his knowledge, approach to the problem and willingness to work with me to fix the problem. We were able to come to a verbal agreement for the work to be done and the cost.. This was on a Saturday, an updated quote was received via e-mail very quickly and the work was done the following Wednesday..

I am very impressed with Augusta Underground for accurately diagnosing the problem and for their systematic method of going about it. I had spent a week with a blocked sewer pipe getting opinions/guesses from other companies about what was causing it and expensive estimates for fixing it. I had been told it was impossible to get the line clear, it was probably a collapsed pipe, the whole line should be replaced, or at least partially before it would be clear. Augusta got someone for me who did clear it, they came out immediately after it was clear and ran a camera through the pipe showing and explaining it all to me. They explained my options. The pipe was not collapsed, it was blocked by roots growing into it from where a plastic pipe had been sleeved into the old original clay pipe under the road and that's what needs to be fixed. I highly recommend this company. I think they're honest and care about doing excellent work.
Description of Work: Set me up with an excellent sewer cleaner and then inspected the sewer pipe with their camera and gave me a DVD showing the camera's view of the whole length of my pipe. Discussed the reason the pipe had gotten blocked and gave me an estimate on correcting the problem.

Steve and all his crew were wonderful to work with. He was so nice, friendly, and meticulous. They took every precaution to minimize damage to our yard and cleaned up afterwards. Looked better than before they started. We also appreciated Heather in the office having to co-ordinate all the services needed and re-scheduling several times due to weather. They finished a day sooner than expected and the price was as quoted. We would use them again any time!!
Description of Work: They hooked us up from a septic system to the city sewer. It entailed filling our septic tank, placing a new tank and pump, and directional drilling to the main city system.

A couple of years ago, we contacted Augusta Underground to dig a 400' trench for us down the length of our gravel driveway. Unfortunately, the heat index was well over 100 degrees when they came out to do the work. Did they complain? Not a bit. Throughout the 3 days they toiled, they kept us informed of their progress and continued to work diligently in the heat. Also unfortunately, with the droughts we've had, the drain wasn't well tested until many months later when it rained significantly. And we discovered that the drainage was slow. We contacted them and they gladly came out to adjust a few things. Now, after the rains we've had this winter, we are happy to write this critique, singing their praises for a job well done. They have been nothing but helpful throughout the length of this project and we are very happy with their professionalism and the job they did.

Do: Call Augusta Underground to visualize your buried pipes. Please understand, they don't do plumbing internal to house and might not be able to identify problems close to, or in, the house.
Description of Work: I had severe drainage problems. Augusta Underground came to my house promptly, ran a camera and had me look at the progress and results as the camera was in the pipes, identified the problem and fixed it within a week. This involved a pipe break underneath my garage which meant excavating the street and my garage. Augusta obtained permits from the City of Noblesville very quickly, repaired the pipe and finished the work in two days.

Fantastic. Brian and his crew came out, emptied and decommissioned my septic tank, dug the trench, installed the new sewer pipe and hooked it up to the new city sewer line under the street. The licensed plumbers who Augusta used rerouted all of my plumbing to the front of the house and even removed the very heavy cast iron pipes that date back 60 years. They did all of this in one day and left my yard as undisturbed as possible. Ask any of my neighbors who used Augusta and ALL OF THEM will tell you they are very happy they chose Augusta over the other contractors who were operating in the area and who had their heavy equipment sitting in peoples' yards for seemingly days on end (and who were only marginally cheaper than Augusta.) Read the other Angie's List reviews on Augusta and save yourself a ton of heartache by making sure the job is done completely and done right the first time. Go with Augusta Underground and don't give it a second thought.

See above. DO: answer the phone professionally. DO: put "closed" info on Angie's List.
Description of Work: On a referral from Sigman Well and Pump, I called Augusta Underground to get an estimate on connecting to city water and sewers for a friend. They said they were closed until February, because the ground was too hard to work. (!?) I think this info should be made available on Angie's List. They would not come out to give an estimate. The gal who answered the phone was not businesslike. She acted like I should know that they were closed -- and why.

Response from Augusta Underground Inc
He called when the snow had covered the ground and more snow and freezing temperatures were expected. I did tell him that we are not scheduling job until the weather was better unless they were emergencies with out service. I also told him that our crews have to look at the utility locates and take measurements and we could not do that during this situation. I told him that our estimates were only good for 60 days and we normally do not start digging until mid-late February.

Old downspouts were clogged and our flowerbeds were constantly muddy when rained. They came out, digged out old ones and replaced with new plastic tubing, extending them 20 feet to front yard.Did very good job, took out one dead bush, cleaned up after themselves.I asked them to possibly extend one more downspout in the side of the house and they did that as well on same day. When I paid them,I forgot to ask for Angies List discount, later I called to office and they mailed me refund.Good company to deal with, recommend to anyone!

Working with Augusta was great! They did the work as expected and were real pros throughout. Most importantly, they seemed honest and fair. In fact, another company had told me that I needed a whole new sewer line which would cost $10,000. Steve from Augusta suggested that I just need a 6" clean-out so that the sewer line can be snaked properly. Because of the position of the sewer line relative to trees/patio/porch, this was tricky, but Steve found a very good solution - and saved me $7,000! After installing the clean-out and snaking the sewer line, they sent a camera down the pipe to inspect it. It turns out the sewer line was in fine condition and did not need to be replaced.
Description of Work: Installed new 6" clean-out for our sewer.

Most of our neighbors went with the heavily self promoted D&H company, but watching their work I was not satisfied. Augusta seemed like a more true professional company, they spent more time discussing and locating existing hazards where D&H spent more time discussing grass growth after install. The work went well, the crew was very polite and helpful. The other company may have had a slightly lower price and may have promised more yard work after the install but Augusta was completely worth it. I have helped several neighbors who went with the other company re-till and plant their yards after they were dissatisfied with results.
Description of Work: New Augusta connected our house to the new city sewer line that was installed in our street. We were required by the city once to pay a professional to do this installation (and to send a $2500 to the city in addition).

Over Thanskgiving weekend our basement floor drain began backing up when we showered, used the toilets, or ran any water in the house. After a few unsuccessful service appointments with other providers, we spoke with Augusta Underground and determined at least one section of our sewer line would need to be replaced. Steve came by to provide an estimate and suggested we start with the first clog location outside and install a 6" cleanout there for easier access to the rest of the line. On the day the work was scheduled, the team showed up exactly when they said they would and began working. They were very quick and thorough with their work. After replacing a section of the line and installing the new cleanout, Augusta had a plumber come out and clear the rest of the line. They then ran a camera through and determined that no further work was needed in the immediate future. We will have to have the line cleared periodically due to roots, but the condition of the line is normal for the age and materials. Throughout the entire process, beginning to end, Augusta has been very helpful, honest, and thorough in their work. We couldn't be happier with our experience and will absolutely use them again in the future should we have any more work done. The reviews are all positive for a reason!

We chose Augusta Underground because of the reviews on Angie's List, and we agree with the previous reviews. From the beginning when Steve Lowry came out to give us an estimate and explain the process, we were impressed with his willingness to explain until we understood, and answer all questions. In addition, Heather managed the rules, regulations, interactions with Citizens Energy and everyone else involved and then was able to explain it to us. She was thoughtful, thorough, amazingly knowledgeable about a range of things, and always got back to us by phone or email if we left a message. Together, Steve and Heather brought out our trust in their ability to do an excellent job with this big project that we were dreading because it had to go across our front yard, around the house, and down a hill into our woods. After the project started, Steve and his crew made a process that could be destructive, laborious and ugly into an interesting, occasionally amusing, and friendly experience. Everyone was always pleasant, as unobtrusive as possible, and very knowledgeable and flexible. The whole project took 3 1/2 days and involved heavy equipment going back and forth across a field that is full of wildflowers during much of the year. We had scheduled the work for winter so as to damage as little as possible, and the crew tried hard to work with us on what had to be taken out. If only the daffodils hadn't started to come up because the weather had been so warm! First the backhoe came in to dig out the septic tank, then a front loader to bring in the gravel to fill the tank and the grinder pump to get the sewage up the hill and around the house, then the drilling equipment. But this was so much better than a 300 foot trench!! The crew put things away and cleaned up the area as much as possible each night. On the last day after the equipment was gone, Steve reworked the ground so it didn't look like a construction site.
Description of Work: Per the requirements of the STEP program, we had our septic tank exposed, drained, and filled with gravel, a "grinder pump" provided by Citizens Energy was put at the end of the pipe that had been connected to the septic tank, then through a technique call "directional boring" a line was drilled several hundred feet under our yard to a connection with the city sewer in the street. A camera was put through the existing pipes to assess their condition and locate the septic tank and the "lateral" line at the edge of the property that we had to connect to.

It went well. Heather was very accommodating to us with being able to come out within a week. We had had it with the issues of our plumbing/sewer backing up all the time in our basement. We first had to get the line clear and then they came and did their work. They told us that we needed a 6 inch clean out installed in the front of the house so that the drain cleaner guy can get to what the 'root' of the problems which are roots in our clay pipe. Right now, we only have a 3 inch clean out in the basement and the issue is in a 6 inch pipe. We are going to do the actual work early next year.

The crew showed up promptly as promised. They took great care in positioning the trench to avoid damage to plantings and trees The project took most of the day, with a short wait for the inspector. When closing up, they spent a good amount of time in leveling and grading the dirt to make it look neat and have it ready for spring lawn repairs. While the quote was for emptying and filling in a 1000 gal septic tank, it was discovered to be a 1500 gal tank. This resulted in a small increase in their invoice to account for added pumping and stone fill. Since the septic tank was near a patio and plantings, only a small hole was made in the tank and all the stone was hand trucked to the back of the house to fill the tank. Overall it was a neat installation considering what was done.
Description of Work: Installed a new sewer line from the front of the house to the street (100+ Ft). Pumped out and filled with stone a 1500 gal septic tank as required by the Marion Co. STEP sewer program. Co-ordinated with plumber to complete hook-up to the house plumbing.

Once again, we cannot say enough good things about Augusta Underground. From start to finish, it all went perfectly. We totally trust their expertise, honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Steve and his staff are knowledgeable and always willing to problem-solve the inevitable surprises that can arise when working on an older home. They are our go-to company for any work in their realm of expertise. Steve comes out quickly to evaluate the problem and provide an immediate estimate. They communicate very well at every step along the way. And when onsite, they are neat, efficient, informative, and thorough. They respect our home and property as if it were their own, and that is a high compliment. And they fix the problem(s). Another excellent job. We recommend them highly to our friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: We had a problem with drain flies in our house beginning in the late fall - our pest control professional confirmed they were drain flies and advised us that the only way to get rid of them was to locate the source of standing water that was breeding them. We took several steps to determine the cause and resolve the problem without success, including a basement drain cleaning. It was very frustrating! After reading many reviews in Angie's list pertaining to drain cleaning, I came upon one that described a problem with their kitchen drain being broken and draining into their crawl space. As a result (thank you reviewer!!), my husband thoroughly checked the crawl space and discovered we too had that problem - our old drain pipe (the house was built in 1950) was broken. This was likely the cause of our annoying drain fly problem. Because Augusta Underground did such an outstanding job for us on an outside drain installation in the fall, we immediately called Steve to see if they could possibly fix this problem. Happily, they could! Steve came out quickly to check the situation out and provide us with an estimate. The work was performed very quickly after that by Brian, Joe, and another Augusta employee. They cut out about 30' of the old galvanized pipe and replaced it. Due to some extensive remodeling to this house in the past, there was a maze of unused pipes in our crawlspace that they removed or shot foam into to simplify our crawlspace and clean it up. They also advised us of some potential issues based upon the age of our plumbing in the crawl space, and advised us to hire a plumber to resolve those issues either proactively or if they arise.

Our house was built in 1925, which means there are clay tile sewer pipes that unfortunately backed up. I had one company out to the house that scoped the sewer and said the whole thing needed to be replaced to the tune of $11,000. Needless to say, I decided to have a couple other opinions. Steve came to the house and scoped the sewer line and recommended that we first install a clean-out so that the 6" sewer pipescould be cleaned out with a 6" auger instead of a 4" due to the limiting iron pipes in the basement. He was hopeful that being able to fully clean out the pipes would show that they didn't have to be replaced. (He was also kind enough to give me some free grading/gutter advice!) We then scheduled the service with Heather, who was very courteous and professional. On the day the cleanout was installed, Augusta's employees showed up promptly when they said they would and began work. They were friendly, while still being very professional. The clean-out was installed and then Augusta arranged for another gentleman, Paul, to clean-out the sewer drain properly. Afterward, the sewer line was scoped again and the foreman explained in detail what he saw. Much to my relief, Steve's initial optimism that the whole sewer line would not have to be replaced was confirmed since my pipes were intact. After reviewing the sewer line, Augusta's employees cleaned up the area nicely and even helped me save one of my boxwoods that I was too lazy to move myself beforehand. I am very satisfied with their service.

I called to inquire about a sewer cleaning and camera inspection, and was told that they do not do the cleaning, but the sewer must be clean before the camera can be put down there. I was referred to Paul Patterson, of Indy Sewer and Drain, who they said does all of their cleanings. They said once it is cleaned out, they could do the inspection, but most of the time Paul gets the pipes cleaned out and there is no need for the inspection. And that is just what happened in my case. I appreciate a company that is honest with the customer, and is not just trying to get business.

Augusta were speedy in responding to my inquiry. This type of repair is one I knew little about. They arranged to have all the underground lines marked. Steve Lowry came out on a Saturday morning and used his camera to scope the pipes. He let me watch and I could clearly see what was going on. The camera enabled him to figure out the most efficient way to solve the problem. Once I agreed to the estimate, they came out and did the work. When I came home from work that day, I could not tell anything had happened. They hardly disturbed my property at all. Better yet, they came in hundreds of dollars below the estimate. It was a great experience from start to finish, and I highly recommend them.

When I would have questions prior to finalizing the contract, Heather was wonderful to explain everything and provide assistance.
Description of Work: New sewers installed in neighbor. We were required to eliminate the existing septic system and install the necessary sewer line to the street and connect. Obtained a number of estimates to perform work. Augusta provided the best overall estimate based on price (with the Angie's List Discount), professional service and Angie's List recommendations and service awards and the guarantee on the work performed.

After a little "hiccup" of coordinating the Carmel Utilities Inspector w/the day that they wanted to do the actual job, all went well. Steve and Bryan supervised a very knowledgeable and professional crew . They provided information every step of the way as to what they had to do. Everything went smoothly and was completed within the timeframe discussed. The trenches were dug and the bush covering the well pump head was removed. All ground was filled in properly and thoroughly before job was completed. We would highly recommend Augusta for your excavating needs.
Description of Work: Augusta connected us to Carmel City Water, locating current city water supplies, digging trenches and connecting for approval by Carmel Utilities inspector. They also supervised the capping off of the current well system

This is one of the best companies I've probably ever worked with. They were very punctual with all the appointments and explained everything very clearly, and I feel that for what they had to do the price was fairly reasonable. They were really good about making sure that my yard was maintained well, such as carefully peeling back and replacing the sod after the work was completed. The receptionist who handled all the permits and appointments was also very helpful in explaining things and was very easy to deal with. For being such a large project, Augusta made the project much less of an ordeal than I thought it would be. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Our sump pump line was broken in two places. Augusta had to come out a few times to deal with the sump pump line in our yard. They had to come back because at first the Hamilton County drainage people had to come in and deal with the county drainage area so that HAS to be repaired first by them. Augusta was able to put a camera down underground to show where the problems were, which was helpful. After the county servicemen got done, Augusta came back to take some more pictures and fix the problems.
