Steve Lowry is who I dealt with from the beginning of the project. He is also the individual who did the work. The job was completed within 1 day. I am very pleased with the end result. I had bids from 4 other companies. I chose this company and Steve because he was so professional.

They had to bore under to hook up. They are excellent, thoroughly professional, prompt and they were just great. I had a wonderful experience with them.
Description of Work: I used the services of Augusta Underground to do the city water hook up.
We have lived in our home for over twenty years since it was originally constructed. In the last year we noticed that after a heavy rain, ground water began to accumulate in the area between the swimming pool/patio deck and the rear of the house (fig 1 & 2). On occasions, water would seep under the rear garage door. The landscaping in the area was lush and we suspected that the existing french drain had become plugged up by the tree roots growing into the corrugated conduit. We researched Angie's List to find a contractor who specialized in drainage problems and decided on using Augusta Underground based on their expertise, experience, and recommendations by Angie's List clients. One of Augusta Underground's (AG) principals came out and surveyed the job in August 2014. He gave professional, courteous recommendations and alternative solutions to the ground water problem. Upon agreeing proceed, their crew came out a few weeks later on the scheduled date. First, they videoed the downspouts and existing conduits in the area and gave us an confirmed overview of the drainage conduits' status. Then they removed the existing landscaping and fence that surrounded the pool pump equipment. The landscape removal was no easy task since the trees/landscaping were over 20 years old... Next they trenched out a new drainage system 100 feet long with 3 surface drains to be embedded in the new concrete walk ways. They used solid PVC piping which is much more resistant to root invasion and crushing than the corrugated plastic type (fig 3 & 4). Most of the digging was done by hand since there were numerous utility lines including the lawn sprinkler system, gas line, and electrical conduits for the pool cover, pool pump, and landscape lighting in the area. They were careful to minimize disrupting the lawn and landscaping out in the yard. They carefully graded the system so that water would drain well away from the house's foundation. They did specify prior to accepting the job that they were not experts in aggregate concrete work and that they could not guarantee matching the existing concrete. I contacted Rod's (Vore) Quality Concrete, another Angie's List recommended vendor, to do the concrete work and they achieved a very good match with the existing patio. Augusta Underground was very conscientious in being present when the concrete work was being done since they felt it was critical that the grading of the conduit system not be disturbed so that it's intended function would remain as intended. (fig 5&6). Finally, they regraded the pool pump area and when the job was finished you could not tell that the lawn had even been overtly disturbed. It has been 9 months since the job was finished and the system works perfectly. Even in heavy down pours, no pooling ground water & no water seepage into the garage is present. We recommend Augusta Underground without any reservations. They treated us & our home with the utmost care...
Description of Work: 1) Videoed down spouts and underground rain water drain conduits; 2) removed landscaping, fencing and sidewalk in rear patio/pool area; 3) installed new underground drainage system to make ground water drain away from house foundation; 4) coordinated with concrete vendor in pouring new sidewalks

The 3 man crew supervised by Steve was here one and a half days. They were very knowledgeable, very pleasant and easy to work with. The quality of the work was outstanding. They hired a plumber to reroute the indoor part of our sewer line and a electrician to install the wiring for the grinder pump. When they finished filling the 3 holes in our yard, they very carefully ground up any larger pieces of dirt left on our grass and sseded the spots. They even washed dirt off the street. I had asked them if they thought it was O.K. for me to remove a piece of concrete about a foot and a half long and 6 inches wide that was protruding into my lawn when the city's contractor installed the sewer basin in our front yard. Steve said that it would be O.K. After they were all done and I checked their work, I noticed that they had ground out the piece of concrete for me. That was very nice and appreciated because it was not their responsibility. And they never mentioned that they had done it. I would like to nominate them for a super service award.
Description of Work: Installed a grinder pump, closed our septic tank, and hooked us up to the city sewer.
Augusta Underground staff were professional, knowledgeable and courteous, from the time we requested an estimate through the completion of the work. They advertised boring equipment which enables them to install a discharge line far enough underground to keep the line from freezing in the winter -- without having to dig a trench through the yard. That really caught our attention. On the scheduled day, three workers arrived driving separate vehicles: a dump truck, a truck pulling a trailer with an excavator, and another truck containing the boring machinery. They were very careful of the property as they unloaded and used each of the machinery pieces, laying plywood where the tires would go to avoid tearing up the yard. Once a spot was determined for the gravel pit, the excavator was used to dig a roughly 3'x4'x4' deep hole. Boring the 100' or so underground into the crawl space of the house was a two-man job, with one on the machine putting the boring rods together as he bored, and the other making sure the line was going where it was intended to go. While they were boring in the front yard, the third worker was connecting the pvc pipes in the back yard into about a 100' pipe that stretched across the back yard. Once the crawl space was reached, it was time to begin pulling the pvc pipe back through the hole. After the pvc pipe was pulled through and protruding into the gravel pit, the crew put the boring equipment away and began filling the bottom of the pit with gravel. They topped it off with dirt that had been dug previously and placed on a tarp. Some of the remaining dirt was used to fill in low spots in the yard, and the crew spread that neatly. The crew also dug out old evergreen bushes and loaded those into the dump truck with the excess dirt from the gravel pit. The excavator had those bushes out in a fraction of the time it would have taken us to dig them out ourselves. We were very appreciative they had indicated an interest in doing that at a reasonable cost. The also neatly raked the beds and made sure they cut any roots that had not come out with the bush. We highly recommend Augusta Underground and will use them again if we have a need for their services.
Description of Work: Removed the old sump pump line from rear of the house. Installed new sump pump pipe from house to yard approximately 100', discharge into a gravel bed.

Couldn't have asked for better service! We had contacted several companies and Augusta Underground was the only company that had the equipment to find the blockage without digging up most of the yard. They were able to use a camera small enough to fit into an 1 & 1/2 inch pvc line to find the blockage. The work was done in one day and when they left, you couldn't tell they had been here. They knew what they were doing, scheduled us in quickly and were good at explaining every step to us. I hope I don't need their services again, but should I, I will be calling Augusta Underground for sure.

We reviewed contractors on Angie's list and decided to go with Augusta Underground (AU) based on their previous reviews as well as the description of the work that they were able to perform. We knew from the onset that the project would be complex. In the last several months we had noted that with heavy rains, groundwater began to accumulate along the area between the pool deck and the rear of our home. We have lived in this home since it was built and this water issue was not the case for the first 20yrs. There was a french drain installed in the area when the home was built but over the years and we suspected that the roots of the large trees had disrupted the function of the drain. We set up an appointment with Steve Lowry, who came and surveyed the issues. He was prompt and professional. The estimate came back via email and we agreed on a date a few weeks in advance. The crew came on the appointed day and investigated the underground drains with video equipment that went out 100 feet. They confirmed the dysfunction of the french drainage system. They proceeded to excavate removing large tree roots & all of a birch tree and a dogwood tree along with all shrubs in the area. This was done by hand since there were lots of utility lines in the area for gas & electricity as well as the swimming pool pipes, landscape lighting and sprinkler system. They were very careful not to disrupt any of the lines and preserved other landscaping and the grass that was not to be removed. They removed the concrete walkways and installed a drainage system across 3 walkways and carefully constructed it so water would properly be dispersed near the edge of our property. They gave us choices of the type of grates to be installed and used conduits that would be resistant for this type of problem to recur. From the onset, Steve said that our aggregate concrete would be difficult for them to match to the existing concrete and they would be willing to work with another vendor of our choice. We chose Rod Vore of Rod's Quality Concrete based on a friend's recommendation as well as reviewing his profile on Angie's List. Rod came out and gave us an estimate for the walkways as well as some other repair work on our pool deck. AG coordinated with Rod. AG was so meticulous that they wanted to be present when the concrete was poured to insure that the drainage system configuration remained intact as they constructed. The job was completed by both vendors. All refuse was removed and out in the yard you could not tell that they had even been there. We had an existing drain out in the yard that the lawn mowing crews had repeatedly macerated the end of the pipe so AG even installed a Spec 80 angled drain grate/cap on the end of the new system so it would be resistant to this type of abuse. Rod was able to match the concrete were you could hardly tell any difference. All in all we are very pleased with both vendors who worked on this project. We have had one heavy rain thus far and no pooling of water is evident... Great job... So if you want a meticulous job in both functionality & final appearance ...these guys can do it....
Description of Work: Removed extensive landscaping, fencing & concrete walkways. Interrogated functional status of several underground downspouts with video cameras. Installed new french drains with catchment grates for new walkways. Coordinated with another Angie's list vendor in pouring the new concrete walkways. They graded the planting areas for our future re-landscaping project...

It went exactly as they explained - they were very professional and pleasant during the process. They took care of obtaining the necessary utility marking and they took care of arranging the necessary permits and approvals from the city before and after the project. We use another company for all of our typical plumbing needs and initially had them quote the job, but ended up using Augusta Underground for this job instead. We are very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them!
Description of Work: They re-routed our sump drain line from our house to the drain in the back of our property (about 80 feet) using equipment that bored underground and therefore leaving no trenches in our yard.

AU did an excellent job running a new underground drain line for our sump pump. The price was as good as or better than their competitors, and the work was completed in one day. We were particularly impressed with the excellent way they replaced our sod and mulch. We wouldn't have done it better ourselves. Some communications could have been responded to in a more timely manner, but overall, highly recommended.

They directionally bored from the main water line on the other side of the road in front of the house and plumbed the interior connections to the house water system. They left the yard with no trace of their presence and in fact where the holes were dug the area looked better after they left. Exceptional care was taken throughout the job, including hand digging beside the house foundation wall to avoid potential damage from the pressure of the boring machine. When the underground services detection person left confusing marking (mixing up water and gas lines), the August crew chief took the cautious approach and calmly adjusted his project plan accordingly. All of this reflects the experience and concern for doing a first rate job by Augusta. You don't often encounter contractors with this level of professionalism.

Whole project took about one week. Work took one (spotty rainy) day. Weather was stormy off and on, but cleared enough to do what needed done. During that week it was difficult to catch me at home on any kind of schedule, so Heather and I exchanged voice and email messages to set up the Estimator visit. Estimator cautioned me about some of the choices I was making, but gave me the estimate on what I wanted. Good to be listened to, both ways. Similar response by the installation team. Each departure from the estimate was explained before making the change, keeping my concerns within the changes. (Ground pitch required going through the basement wall above ground-line then dropping to an appropriate level to cross under the driveway with enough pitch to drain properly; I declined cutting the pipe for a discharge point where it surfaced in favor of retaining the distance from the house and the added small elevation to allow a gravel catch point; gravel was added at the catch point.) I had not made much effort at cleanup of the working locations beyond weed removal and junk-room storage out of the way, so the working space was dusty and webby when the workmen came. They removed whatever debris was created by the work, leaving the space no worse for their having been there. Well done.

Augusta was the first to my house Monday morning after seeking out service from several A rated providers on Sunday night. They not only found issues in my yard but also found drain problems in front of my neighbors house by using their camera system. They made a DVD for us to share w/ the city of Carmel to get this corrected. I was specifically seeking a company that would do this work with minimal disturbance/damage to my sod. They cut it and returned it to a state that was much better than I expected. We had a misunderstanding on price but we came to a compromise and the work was completed very professionally. I would certainly recommend Augusta.

Augusta Underground saved us thousands of dollars. Our sewer was backed up because of roots. Another company told us we had to replace the entire sewer line at 6 to 10 thousand dollars plus a great deal of damage to our lawn. Augusta came out and new exactly how to fix the problem. They were very professional. Everything went exactly as they planed. They definitely know what they are doing. Augusta identified the problem with my sewer line with a camera to be tree roots. They came out immediately due to the emergency nature of the situation. Heather in the office clearly knew what to do and had the owner Steve and Joel out to my home after 5pm to diagnosis the problem. They said they would be back the next day to put in an outside sewer cleanout and to camera again to make sure the line was cleaned and that the clay pipe had no issues. They cleaned up after themselves and helped me replant my new landscaping so that no one would even know they had been here. The sewer line is now completely cleaned and I am all set without replacing the entire sewer line. They were amazing. Kind and they were very honest and worked quickly and in a timely manner to make sure that my home use of water was not disrupted. They are fantastic in all ways I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: He put in a sewer clean out and cleaned out my sewer line of tree roots.
I have never had a better experience with any company. The guys from Augusta arrived on time. They were pleasant, professional and hard working. I had dreaded having this work done on my South Broad Ripple house, and these guys actually made having sewer pipe work done a pleasant experience. I cannot say enough nice things about Steve and his crew. They explained everything to me -- wow I learned a lot about Indianapolis' sewer infrastructure from them. They protected my yard and cleaned up afterward -- my place looked better after they left than before they arrived! They even did extra work to prevent future problems with my sewer and stayed right on the estimated price. Again, I'd give these guys an A++. The gentlemen they subcontracted to actually clean my sewer lines was amazing, as well. I so appreciated their honesty and their friendliness. I would recommend Augusta Underground to anyone who needs this kind of work performed.
Description of Work: Trenched to the sewer line in front of my house and installed new PVC sewer pipe and an outside sewer clean out. Also use a camera to look at sewer line from house to the main sewer.
