We’ve been a loyal customer for 18 months, but decided to switch to a local company several months after our 12 month contract expired. When I went to cancel, they told me they were going to charge me a $199 “early cancellation” fee despite our contract ending 6 months prior. When I called them out on it, they apologized and stated they zeroed out my account. This is an extremely shady business practice to have when a customer decides to cancel service. They have indefinitely lost my business and I would not recommend them. Find a local company.

If I could give less then a 1 star I would. PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW. They will get you to sign up and then do terrible work. After that they have you in a contract so they will force you to keep paying for service.

This will be one you will want to read. Ring doorbell rang and I answered and it was a Pest Control person. Have to hate those pesty door to door sales people who come in the middle of the day when you are at work. Because he or she hit the doorbell multiple times and dogs where going crazy I asked how I could help him…. All I heard was….”there name was something from So and so Pest Control Company” Remember I really couldn’t hear them as our 4 dogs where protecting our house at full volume. Told the individual I was not interested and disconnected. They rang the doorbell again and again told them I did not want what they were selling and asked them to leave as dogs where now probably ruining our door. To recap, middle of day, I’m at work, multiple rings of doorbell and 4 dogs singing the loudest dog symphony as possible. The person clearly could not hear me and I couldn’t hear them. So this takes us to today, 30-45 days later and my wife gets a collection notice from Aptive Environmental. Seriously, we forgot we even ordered the service. No not a bill from Aptive but a collection agency…I am blown away. In conversation with wife they stated I cancelled a scheduled service via ring doorbell converation. This is funny to a point but when you ruin someone’s credit over $100 on a claim that is 100% false…this just tells me what kind of company this is. That said I am going to let everyone know they should NOT use this company. Disappointing in todays hi tech world an immediate phone call would not occur. As they are going to ruin my wifes credit I am going to tell our side of the story. Yes this may be my fault but if you have a ring doorbell and dogs, you know what I’m talking about. Also trying to figure out how I can cancel a contract, via ring doorbell….flat out crazy. Plus if he had a scheduled visit then why would they continue to ring doorbell. All of this over $99…what a joke of a company. DO NOT USE APTIVE ENVIRONMENTAL!!!

Pushy solicitors don't take a hint. They are rude, argue with you, and don't leave until you close the door in their face.

This company doesn't seem to be capable of providing their employees with necessary reading comprehension skills to see neighborhood No Soliciting signs. Very push sales people, throwing out made up numbers about how many houses they treat in the neighborhood, etc. I know it's bogus as I asked one of the neighbors they referenced in their pitch to me.

Pushy door to door salesman tried to undercut our current pest control. He would not relent when I told him I was not interested and showed me all of the reviews for their company. Most of the reviews look fake and the reviews that aren't fake are horrible. Clearly just a scam.

Young men saturated multiple neighborhoods in Castleton area second week of August, 2017. They tended to be very pushy. Some refused to even give their names or name of their company; when a no-solicitation policy was pointed out, some claimed "police'' had given them a permit, but had no documentation to confirm that. The solicitors were free with extravagent claims about ways in which Aptive is better than other companies, from "working harder" to "removing pests the others couldn't", and liberally bad-mouthed other companies as greedy and not caring whether they did you any good or not, which Aptiva rises above. They also claimed to offer a quarterly rate that I know to be significanly below the "going rate" in the area, having gotten many quotes recently. This was the subject of extension discussion on the neighborhood website. Some of my comments above were from my own visitation, others from other postings on that website. Reviewing the company's national website and their claims, it is hard to understand why they would engage in such a distasteful campaign. They used clean-cut young men with uniform neat appearance, and some claimed to be trained in pest control. But it does not appear that they were well trained to present their company in an accurate and favorable light. Photo was taken of one of these by a neighbor. I would strongly hesitate to do business with any company engaging in such practices.

I don't usually buy services from a door-to-door solicitor, but his timing was impeccable, as I had just been in the process of researching pest control companies. I (stupidly) signed a one-year deal with Aptive to take care of my ant and wasp problems. Over the next year I had to have them come re-treat, on average, twice after each service. (Not counting winter, because these insects are not active in the winter.) Finally, when my contract expired, I canceled my service and went with one of their competitors, who took care of the problem in one visit. Aptive seemed to send a different person each time who didn't have much of a clue what he was doing. In fact, one of them said, "I don't know what to do, but they said to use this stuff." Finally, within a few hours of each treatment, they would call and demand payment over the phone, even though my account was up to date prior to that service call.

Scammers. Beware! This company solicits illegally and does not perform the work contracted for. They then attempt to extort money from customers. Do not be deceived by the high volume of perfect, almost identically written, fake reviews on Google. Letting these people into your house would be one of the worst decisions you ever made.

terrible not worth it
Description of Work: We signed a 12 month contract with them April 2016. Before the last installment, I called to cancel the services. They assured me that after the last quarterly service, they would not be back. The day they came for the last treatment, there was a thunderstorm so ...that treatment was NOT effective. I would say overall, their services were NOT effective even when applied correctly. After I had cancelled in April, their technician came out July 14th to service the home, my husband was there and told him DO NOT service this home, we cancelled. The next Monday, the technician came back, this time my husband was not there, so he treated the home (so he says) and we got a bill. Bottom line: do NOT sign a contract with them. They will NOT let you cancel, you will Never get rid of them, AND you will still have bugs.

It turned out very well. We've had them out twice. They do an initial treatment. They did one inside and out and they come back 30 days later and do another treatment. What they do is, they treat the yard and the inside of the house and then they come back a second time to kill the eggs in the yard that they did not get the first time, due to the cycle of the insect. They charge $39 for the first treatment and then $89 for the three that follow. In order to get that price I had to do a one-year contract. If you cancel it before the one year is up then you get billed for part of the remaining balance. That's how that works. The products were environmentally friendly and not harmful on the pets and they were effective. We can tell a difference in the incidence of insect population in the house. The price is reasonable.
