+ -1 moreIt took some time to get them scheduled. The original time frame given was 2 weeks from estimate visit. They didn't show up until 4 weeks had passed from estimate visit. They could have done a better job of setting and communicating that expectation. They were not the lowest bid, but they were competitive. I didn't take the lowest bidder because they were tell me they were going to trim from my roof. That was unacceptable to me, so I went with Bill's Service. Once Bill's team showed up they did an excellent job... Corey was easy to work with and ensured that my expectations where met. The team was friendly and professional. In addition to trimming back the trees (which was part of the contract), they removed some bushes for me at no extra cost. This was above and beyond my expectations. They left the work area clean and neat. Overall I had an excellent experience.
Description of Work: Trimmed back trees on the side of my house that were making contact with the house.

+ -1 moreBill, the owner, came out for the estimate. He was friendly and professional. He beat everyone else price (one he was 3x less). They did have some issues with some equipment so they were about a week behind but once they got here, they were fast and got right to work! Collin, owner's son, was in charge of the crew. He was easy to talk to and knew what I wanted. The crew had a chipper and cleaned up the mess from all the trees. They also removed 2 more trees that I didn't know were dead. He removed those free of charge. I would definitely call them again!
Description of Work: Remove a couple trees and lots of branches which were taking over our backyard. Also remove fallen tree and some dead ones.

+ -1 moreBill's crew chief called me on 6-3 and were working in the area, and would like to come to my house in an hour or so if this would work for me. I said yes and they were here in about an hour with five men who preceded to climb the tree and cut it down piece by piece. They were very professional and cleaned up afterword and removed the cut pieces. Whole process took about an hour and a half.

+ -1 moreIn the future I would use Angie's List to find another local tree service who does good work and cares more about their clients.
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal for Tree Services. Specifically we needed them to grind a 10" stump from a Bradford Pear that fell during a storm. The actual work was great. They ground the whole stump and immediate roots. They left everything very clean. The issue was scheduling. We heard nothing from them for weeks after purchasing the Big Deal. We contacted them several times to find out when they could come out and got the run around most of the time. We were told by the receptionist we would receive a call back and would never get a call back. They did say that it's a seperate crew that does their stump grinding. However that still is not an excuse for being completely unresponsive. One day my wife comes home from the gym and it's ground. No call or anything prior. Again Bill's does great work but they lack in overall professionalism.

+ -1 moreDid a good job of removing tree and cleaning up. When trimming tree under electric line, evidently there was telephone wire and some cable inside the tree. They seemed to be upset that they ruined 2 chains in trying to cut up the tree top. They wanted an extra $50 to take that tree top since they would have to take it to the dump or they could leave it. I told them to leave it, and we would deal with it.

When they completed the job they rang the doorbell to ask if we were satisfied with the work and they did a good job of cleaning up after they were were finished.

+ -1 moreThe person giving estimate was very informative, explained the work in detail, gave suggestions on other trees not part of the job and gave a discount on top of the Angie List deal. The company called to mark any lines under ground. When the trees were taken down the clean up was excellent. A week later the stumps were removed and again the clean up was excellent.

+ 0 moreI got a big deal to use them. The deal was for $500 for $350 worth of service. The experience was fine. In the future, I wouldn't go about buying the coupon or the deal first because I didn't feel it was $200 worth of service. I should have gotten the quote first and then bought the deal. Their cleanup of all the trimmings was great. It didn't even feel like my trees were trimmed that day with all the ground covered. They have a nice follow-up phone call. I was not there when they came out as I was at work. I got stuck using them because I bought Angie's List deal. I got the quote from them and I wouldn't have used them because they were so expensive. I have learned from them. They did a good job. Based on the experience, I feel I would do my own trimming.

+ -1 moreI purchased the $200 worth of tree work for $99.00..... when Bill came out to estimate I said I wanted to have the tree dead wooded and cut back from the power lines and chimney....he thought that was doable and would cost an extra $100...the work was scheduled with Bill's son....by the time the crew could get there to do the work all the leaves had dropped...Bill's son pointed out that those huge leaves had actually hidden more dead wood and there would only be one healthy limb left after dead wooding...he also pointed out that the trunk was deteriorating...he thought it should be taken down before limbs actually started breaking off and landing in the street or hitting the house....the cost to cut the tree down was an extra $200 instead of the original extra $100....I said go ahead and like a small army the crew started taking the tree down and cleaning up the debris...one limb did hit my Christmas lights on the side of the house and I had to re-hang a couple but other than that all went well including the clean up

+ -1 moreOnce they arrived to complete the work, they did an excellent job. The biggest issue was timeliness. They were not aware of what they were signing up for in terms of the Angie's deal and they had so many projects in a short time frame they couldn't complete them all in a timely manner.
Description of Work: I bought one of Angie's deals for tree service in September assuming the work would be done in October. I didn't even hear from the company until October due to a misunderstanding regarding the Angie's deal. Then, I was told it would be another month before they could come back and do the work. I finally called the first week of December to find out when they were coming to do the work was told by one person they didn;t have me on the books and they would come the third week of December. However another person called back and said they would try and come sooner than the third week of December. When they finally came, they did an excellent job. They were professional and did extra work for me without charging me more. If you are not in a hurry, this is a good company to work with. I had 5 small trees removed and a lot of brush removed and cleaned up from the property. They did an excellent job of removing all of the debris from the property without disrupting the landscape around it or encroaching on the neighbors' property.

I appreciated them soliciting my opinion and notifying me of the next phase (root drilled out). They did a great job and I can't wait until spring to see the trees com back. I am anxiously waiting to get the bill, I wish it was behind me since Christmas is next week. Update 12/25/12: Incomplete, not yet resolved.

He assured me he would send the bill to me the next day. I received the bill, however it was for an incorrect amount. The agreed to amount was $500. This needs to be corrected. This has the potential to downgrade the previous rating if not corrected.
