Wow... Avoid at all costs. Set an appointment for 12 and he showed up 25 minutes early. We do not live at the house needing the radon inspection. He insisted the appointment was for 11 in spite of his first words being that he arrived early and we have a text message from him saying 12. When he called he was extremely rude and was unwilling to wait the 15 minutes for us to get there. We offered to provide him the door code to get started while we drove there. He was unwilling to wait. Not sure how 15 minutes to make $150 wouldn't work for him, but we are moving on to a different company.

Owner never intended to be there. They wanted me to test the home for Radon after the husband replaced the Radon Motor himself. The person writing this review forgot to mention that I spent almost an hour on the phone days before trying to help her out. If the retest for the Radon system was so important they should have been there. Just goes to show you, you can’t win with some people even if you show up 15 minutes early.

He's a one man operation. If you have a problem with radon levels that are still high after he installs the mitigation system, be prepared to feel like you are a nuisance. His thorny, defensive personality makes him difficult to work with. His communication fluctuates between down right rudeness to passively aggressive non communicative. Getting a copy of his warranty was like pulling teeth. He lacks professionalism. He should not be working with the public. There are too many good providers to have to put up with this man.

I am sure IF the radon level was still high I fixed it, no mention by owner that I did not. I am professional and straight forward which offends some people like this person. After 6,400 Radon Mitigation installs Indiana in 24 years I have never had one BNB complaint.

Ken was able to come out to our home the day before closing and install a radon system as well as treat mold in our attic. Ken was very detailed in explaining how every things works. He did excellent work and his price quote was cheaper than all of his competitors I called. I will definitely recommend him to others.

From the initial contact, Ken's manner was was brusk, on the verge of being rude. He stated that he needed to take a look at the system He said he would be at the house the same day, as soon as he finished another job, but could not give an approximate time. True to his word, Ken arrive less than 2 hours later. He went to the basement, and immediately said the radon mitigation system was not the issue, but that the sump pump float needed to be set lower. Without unsealing the sump pump and looking, he was certain that the water within the pipe had been pumped up from the sump pit and not from outside. He recommended that it be fixed as soon as possible. Ken then wanted to see where the sump pump was discharging in the yard and went out on the back patio to inspect it. He said nothing, but went to his truck. Ken soon returned with a ladder and a saw. He returned to the basement and sawed the pipe apart and removed the u-shaped joint. He poured about a cup of clear water out of the pipe, again stating that this water came from the sump pit, not outside (although he told me repeatedly that rain water from the outside that comes into the tube goes into my sump pit). About this time, he answered a phone call. After listening a few minutes, and pacing in my basement, he stated, something to the effect of "You know what? I'm glad you guys are so busy that you don't have common curtesy to get back to me. Just forget it, don't call me back!" Somewhat alarming, and quite unprofessional, in my opinion. Aside from emptying the water from the joint, no other work was done. Upon leaving, his advice was to "have your husband lower the float on the sump pump, and do that as soon as possible. It will be $125 if you call me out here again." Overall, this provider was quite condescending and rude, and lacked a level of professionalism in my opinion. He left my back sliding patio door open, as well as my front screen door unlatched and open (I'm thankful my pets did not get out!). I appreciate being informed and having providers take the time to explain their work and answer my questions, however this provider seemed to be lacking in customer service skills.
Description of Work: Ken, from AAA property Services, installed a radon mitigation system in a home I just purchased. The system was installed in response to the home inspection report. Upon the final walk-thru, water was observed leaking from a joint where two 90 degree elbow were joined, causing a puddle on the cover of the sump pump. With the recent wind and rain, we were concerned with the water coming in from the open pipe on the side of the house. The provider was called to fix the leaking joint. and provide some sort of weather cover for the external pipe.

I responded to the request [Member Information Removed] a very timely manner. After 16 years of [Member Information Removed] radon [Member Information Removed] I know when water is being sucked onto the discharge pipe from the sump pit, that is the only way water can get into the system, which is always caused by a faulty sump pump that cannot keep up with the water or the sump motor float is set to high, which [Member Information Removed] this case was the cause. I actually saved this customers basement from being flooded, the sump motor needed to be serviced thats why I suggested her husband look at it. I usually charge a service fee as do most companies but did not with this customer. I am very busy [Member Information Removed] the summer and very focused on getting the job done and moving on to the next one. I did this service [Member Information Removed] between jobs and corrected the issue for free, what more does a customer want? As for the door issue I do not agree at all. I usually come [Member Information Removed] from the garage door because that is the door closest to the basement door and I do not have to track through the home. I have installed over 4,000 Radon [Member Information Removed] the Indianapolis area, even though I try I cannot completely please everyone, I can only do the best job I can.

the owner did a fine job-- UNTIL job completion when immediate demand for payment without the owner supplying an invoice with a statement of work he completed. Said he should be paid based upon his word given in on proposal. Sent check anyway to address on Angie's List. When he did not received check, he started with threats. Finally determined that he had not updated his address and 1st check was sent to his old address. He did not care. Continued with threats. Stopped payment on first check and sent 2nd check. When it did not arrive on the day he expected, the contractor started a barrage of threats of mechanics liens and lawsuits. AVOID THIS PROVIDER AT ALL COSTS if you do not want to deal with a very unprofessional service provider. The shame is that AAA Property Services is probably a good provider. The owner's lack of professionalism is shamefully abominable, which negates any good that the company might do. Actually, I feel sorry for an individual who has such pent up anger that he has to take it out on good faith customers.

Owner was out of state in California, said she sent check, after two weeks no check. Finally after I threatened home with lien 1 time, parents came by with check the next day. Everything they said is false except the fact that I did a high quality job. I still have the emails and full documentation to back my statement! Contractors only have 30 days to enforce a mechanics lien, there was nothing else I could do to get payment.

Everything went great. Ken with AAA Property services came out first for an estimate. I felt his pricing was fair. We called him a couple days later to do the work. He was very knowledgable and took the time to explain everything to us. It went great. Would highly recommend him if you are needing mold remediation.

We were selling our home and the buyers did a radon test that came back high. Called up AAA and they were able to get out the next day and got it installed in the blink of an eye. We shopped around and several other Angie's List providers quoted higher and wouldn't be able to get out to us for a week or longer.

Price was good. Service was ok. Informed by electrician that the way the radon system was plugged in was not to code and we had to have it fixed. Would recommend if you just need it done as cheap as possible.

There are no building codes related to Radon installations, if there was a problem I fixed it. I install 200 to 300 radon installations per year myself, have been for 15 years, thats about 4,000 systems installed by myself and sometimes with a helper. I have more experience installing radon units than anyone in the state. Too many people listen to what Home Inspectors say about things they do not know 100% about which was probably the case here. I always explain systems to the customers prior to the installation if they are at the home, so that there are no issues after the installation. Everyone who puts a Radon system in their home looks for the best price, I only use the highest grade radon motors on the my systems which I cannot say about other radon contractors. I do my very best to make everyone happy, but when a company works for so many people it is next to impossible to appease everyone, even though I try my best.

Ken came to the house on schedule and did an excellent job of installation. After the installation the follow-up test was near zero for Radon. With the home being on a slab it presented some challenges for installation and Ken did an excellent job with this installation. The installation was completed in under two hours and all clean-up was made. Would recommend this company again!!!
Description of Work: Tested positive for Radon and the home is on a slab. I received six quotations and his price was the best. I spoke with a Radon laboratory and they recommended this company for service and quality.

Came out on a sunday to inspect, had an estimate to me within 3 hours, stayed true to his estimate. Removed all mold from our crawlspace. We go to close the home for sell in an hour and a half. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who has mold; our mold was really bad and he got rid of it all. We will have him look at our new home also.

Our radon pump was under warranty with Mr. Hurder's company at the time we contacted him. We paid him for his visit, though he did not find anything wrong. During our follow-up conversations with him he were struck by his rude, hostile tone. During a recent conversation he recommended that we have another company evaluate the problem, which we did. If the second company felt that the motor needed to be fixed, he told us he would comply. The second company, which is highly rated on Angie's List, told us that they would recommend replacing the motor to see if that helps, especially since the pump is still under warranty. When we contacted Mr. Hurder with this follow-up information, he dismissed it all, telling us he would not replace the motor and that he's tired of hearing from us. When we mentioned that we would report this lackluster technical support to Angie's List, he told us that he "doesn't give a *expletive*". The radon pump is still vibrating.
Description of Work: Inspected the radon system to explain a bothersome vibration originating from the radon pump pipes underneath the living room.

THE MEMBERS CALLED MY COMPANY ABOUT TWO YEARS AFTER THE RADON SYSTEM HAD BEEN INSTALLED FOR THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I TOLD THE MEMBER THAT THERE WOULD BE A SMALL SERVICE FEE, BUT IF ANYTHING WAS WRONG IT WOULD BE REPLACED FOR FREE. UPON MY FIRST VISIT I REMOVED THE MOTOR TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY PROBLEMS, THERE WERE NONE. I THEN INSPECTED THE SYSTEM IN THE HOME, AGAIN THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. I COULD NOT DETECT OR HEAR ANY VIBRATION. I THEN ASKED THE MEMBER TO LISTEN AND TELL ME IF SHE COULD HEAR A VIBRATION, SHE COULD NOT. ABOUT A WEEK LATER, THE MEMBER CALLED AGAIN COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I AGAIN WENT OUT TO THE HOME, THIS TIME FOR FREE. AGAIN I COULD NOT HEAR OR FEEL ANY VIBRATION; I AGAIN ASKED THE MEMBER TO TELL ME WHERE SHE COULD FEEL OR HEAR A VIBRATION, SHE COULD NOT. I GOT A THIRD CALL FROM HIM, AT THIS TIME I SUGGESTED ANOTHER COMPANY. HE CALLED BACK AND SAID THAT THE NEW COMPANY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY SAID ALL THEY COULD DO WAS REPLACE THE MOTOR. THE MEMBER REQUESTED A NEW FAN MOTOR; I REPLIED THAT IT WOULD COST MONEY BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE THEIR MOTOR. HE THEN BECAME LOUD AND RUDE AND THREATENED ME BY CALLING ANGIE'S LIST, WHICH HE HAS DONE. LATER I CALLED THE OTHER RADON COMPANY. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD BEEN OUT TO THE HOUSE THREE TIMES AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE SYSTEM AND THAT THEY HAD TO TELL THE MEMBER TO PLEASE STOP CALLING! THIS COMPLAINT HAS NO MERIT.
