A1 Roofing Indiana

James Moore, the owner of A-1, was just fantastic from the estimate until the last piece of debris was hauled away! He personally came out to look at the site for the estimate, and stood out among the others we called.. He was in constant communication throughout the job. He and his foreman both walked around the site with me, and asked what special concerns I had about the job. They consulted me about where the dumpster would be parked, and pointed out areas which might need additional repair. The crew arrived early and worked very hard all day and into the evening. Mr. Moore called to give updates and to ask (before the work was started) about more extensive repairs to (and replacement of) rafters. His large crew was able to tear off the existing shingles, repair decking, rebuild where damaged, re-shingle, and remove and replace gutters and downspouts in all four buildings in about a week, give or take a day or two. They worked continuously once they started. All of the trash and construction debris was removed., and care was taken with my landscaping and leaded glass windows (not one pane broken). I appreciated the great communication, thoroughness, and efficiency of the company, not to mention the quality of the work they did to my "vintage" home and outbuildings. The roofs look absolutely beautiful, and I know that the part of the job that does not show was done with just as much care and skill. I would never even think about using or recommending anyone else but A-!. Very few companies get it right every step of the way. James Moore and A-1 Roofing Systems exceeded my expectations, and I would give them an A-plus in every category!

Had a leaking roof on a 12 yo home. Checked Angie's list booklet and called James Moore. Should have called insurance agent but that is hindsight now. Roofers finished all in one day with a decent sized crew. Wish when they told my neighbors what extensive damage there was to my roof, that they had covered my roof with a tarp and called me, so I could have had my insurance adjustor come take a look at it. Instead my neighbors were informed. I do feel that I was taken advantage of due to the company talking with my neighbors to drum up more business for themselves and not truly taking care of me as they could have done once they found more than just the leak to be fixed. For that, I am very disappointed. Otherwise,I have no problem with the roofing job as they did an excellent job as far as I know. They also came back to take care of outside cedar trim removal; repair; and retrimmed. I am very happy with the overall work.

They were really patient with me. We were in and out of town and they worked around our schedule very well. They did a really good job and were very easy to work with. I really appreciated how they handled everything considering what we had going on with our family.

They were wonderful. They cleaned up all their mess. They were great. We just liked their personality. They were very straight forward and told us exactly what was needed and told us ahead of time what it was going to cost. We just had to choose our colour and they told us the price. They didn’t push us. We felt the price was reasonable. My husband said they did really really well because some of the things on the placing of the chimney weren’t right, instead of leaving that they took it all off and redid it properly. They didn’t cover up things but actually replaced it. They were very quick to respond to our needs and very quick to come and do the job. They were on time every time they came in. They were very professional. We have already talked about using them again in the future.

Was on time and performed repair with in a reasonable and of time.

We are currently working with the insurance agency to see if this would be covered. They seemed to be real cooperative. I am recommending them to other people.

When I made the appointment they were professional and prompt getting back to me. They quickly put up ladders and at my request went into the attack to make sure not water had leaked into attack space. They removed and replaced the metal flashing that has many small holes in it. The job took about one hour. They were knowledgable and friendly.

Initial repair was not effective. We experienced a rain storm after the initial repair that resulted in major leaking that was much worse than we ever had. The repairs were not done thoroughly. As a result we have much more damage to drywall and carpet then we did before the "repair" by A1. I called them while I was watching water dripping into my house and Dave told me that they would come out in the afternoon, no such luck. I called the next day and was again told that they would come out, no such luck. We waited for 5 hours on Saturday for them to come out and again, no such luck. Finally on Sunday someone who did not have the history of the job came out to inspect. They finally came out to repair the repair 5 days later. During my initial interactions with Dave I felt that he was trustworthy and would get the job done right. I now realize that he was just a good sales person and we were duped. I don't know who actually did the work, but I'm guessing they didn't really know the problem and Dave wasn't supervising. We are now stuck with drywall and carpeting that needs to be repaired/replaced and A1 is taking no responsibility, nor are they responding to us. I am now stuck with a roof that may have been repaired and have to wait for a rainstorm to see if the second set of repairs A1 performed fixed their initial mess.

We called A1 after having water come in a few different spots on the backside of our roof. Dave came out to inspect the roof and reccommended a new roof due to wind damage. A1 worked with us and our insurance company throughout the entire claim process. James and Dave both came out to bring shingle options and gave us plenty of time to select a color. We were scheduled to have our tear off and new roof done on June 26th, however when the weather forecast looked bad they were able to move our date up and the roof was finished earlier than that. James and Dave are both very friendly and easy to talk/work with. We would definitely use & reccommend A1 Roofing in the future.

Our home inspector estimated three years of life on the shingles when we purchased this house eleven years ago. After several instances of repair of shingle loss from high winds, and assessing the deterioration of color from black to gray, we decided to replace the entire roof. Mr. James Moore provided the lowest of three estimates we received for the replacement of our roof (shingles, with roofing felt, etc.), and included lifetime warranty shingles in the estimate, although they were an add-on with other estimates. After my wife and I had decided on a shingle color (which was a difficult decision), the work was done with dispatch by a hard-working, skilled crew. Care was taken to protect the house exterior and plants from damage, as promised, and when the job was complete, all debris, except for a couple small pieces of old shingle I found while mowing, was carefully removed, so no sign the work had been done was evident. Overall, my wife and I are very happy with our new shingles and look, and the work that went into it, as well as the price!

It went well as far as we're aware. (It's not like we're up on the roof much). We had a powerful rainstorm that came through about a week after the work was done and there was no new leaking where there had been previously. Of course, the storm confirmed that we did have a new leak in a different part of the house and A-1 came back out and took care of that as well. We got several quotes on the initial job and Dave was easy to talk to and fairly priced. We were able to schedule both jobs quickly and they picked up any debris before they left. We would use A-1 again and would recommend them.

Crew got to my home early in the morning on the day scheduled and worked steadily until the job was completed. Necessary add-ons to the estimated cost were explained to me in a professional manner. A minor question about the amount of plywood used was dealt with promtly. Very satisfied with cost and quality of work.

We couldn't be more pleased with James Moore and his work crew. They were all prompt, personable, polite, friendly, efficient and professional. They went out of their way to accommodate our wishes. a. They were very careful to protect our landscaping and to clean up after their work. b. We pointed out that we had just planted some beans and tomatoes along the back of our house, and they took extra care not to damage them. c. We asked them to paint the vent-pipes and flashings to blend with the color of the new shingles (This was not something that they had agreed to do from the start). They did so gladly, and it looks beautiful! d. We didn't think the conical peak on part of our roof looked perfectly straight; when we pointed this out, they agreed and quickly redid it to our satisfaction. e. They patiently explained everything they were doing and answered all of our questions as the work was progressing. f. Mr. Moore even gave us a CD of 15 photos taken from every angle of our house with its new roof as it was going on and after it was completed. We chose A-1 Roofing because it was listed with Angie's List, and we are so glad we did! If we could give them something higher than an "A" rating, we would. (How about A+++?) Several of our neighbors have stopped by to tell us how beautiful our new roof looks. Even while the work was being done, our across-the-street neighbors invited us to watch with them from their vantage point and said how great it looked. Another lady, from around the corner, who can only see the back of our house, commented that she never noticed roofs before, but now she can't stop looking at and admiring ours. Since our's was completed, some of our other neighbors have contacted A -1 to do their roofs as well. We have and will continue to recommend them to our friends.

I think it went well. I think that they were only here a couple hours. It was David Carter and his son. They hauled away all of the debris.

Was on time and even got in attic for evaluation of damage. Suggested I wait till all ice is gone to do anything since there isn't much they can do with the amount of ice we had. Will call them back when things thaw to evaluate damage and if repair is needed.

They could have not have been nicer or more reasonable.

James did a great job diagnosing and fixing the problem. We were having leaking in our family room ceiling and James found the cause, had a subcontractor fix the gutter, and he fixed the roof. He did a great job matching the shingles, since they are older and a little worn. No more leaking! Very prompt and no mess.

I was 100% satisfied with the work that they did. The owner Mr. James Moore was very cooperative. Their price was very competitive and the work was professional. I have no complaint at all and I would recommend the business without reservation.

I have been very pleased with their work. They didn't pressure me to sign with them, they were very comfortable with the competitive bidding process.

James submitted the lowest bid from the start. He then met with me and two other members of our board to discuss the details and logistics of the roof repair. We initially were going to go with 25 year shingles but James showed us the difference that the 30 year dimensional shingles make in the overall appearance and we decided to upgrade to the 30 year. What initially started out to be a two week project turned into around a 6 week affair because of rain that would hit about every 3 days. When it wasn't raining his crew did a commendable job. They were working from sun up to sun down trying to get as much as possible accomplished each day. They did a great job considering the size of the roofs and the amount of material they had to remove to put the new roof on. They took great care to not disturb any of the vegetation, flowers and shrubs that are part of our grounds. They also took great care to pick up as many of the nails that inevitably fall to the ground. It was impossible to expect them to get all of them but they probably got 99 percent of them. We did have some leaks coming from around old skylights that were part of the roof but James had his crew out and got them fixed as soon as soon as I let him know where the leaks were occurring. They did leave a bundle of shingles on some grass that caused a patch to die out but other than that I was very happy with their work. Overall James is a great guy to work with and I would recommend him to anyone.

Quality work performed - very conscientious, friendly, and professional. Price was twice what the real estate agent gave us, but a third of the estimates we obtained from other roofing companies.

Will not respond to emails or faxes. Won't honor $150.00 Angie's List Coupon advertised in book. Put on a new roof knowing that the skylights were bad and did not inform me. Roof leaked and A-1 came back and re-caulked. However, due to the leak, ceiling in bathroom has to be replaced. Roof also leaked in the ceiling of garage and and rotted through. Subcontractors put on new gutters and put a hole in the outside wall. None of these items were addressed. In addition, the roofers never used a magnetic roller and a nail narrowly missed going up the bottom of my dog's paw. Have to find a new roofer, carpenter, drywall installer, and painter. Three neighbors used this company and had to hire their own handymen to fix leaks and where a tool was dropped and made a hole.

I quit providing reports after receiving a phone call from a company I rated as an F. However, I was told if I didn't provide a report for A-1 Roofing, I would receive a bill for $75 (the amount of the Angie's List coupon). So, in order to avoid this charge, I am providing a report for A-1 Roofing Systems. Overall, I would rate the experience with A-1 as good. However, I am still finding cigarette butts in my yard.

It went just fine. They did a very nice job.
