We have a huge roof and somehow the crew managed to get it done in almost one day (between all the rainfall). We did keep watch over certain areas to make sure the decking was replaced as needed - I think they may not have been as particular as we were to make 100% sure the boards were in perfect shape. We were more apt to ask them to spend the extra money to replace a piece of decking just to be on the safe side. I'm very picky about the look of the roof and having the shingles and roofline look perfect, and they fit the bill there. Great job. I was also very impressed with their cleanup job. Of course we've found some nails and pieces of shingle on the ground afterwards, but that's par for the course with ANY new roof regardless of who you use. I saw multiple men outside sweeping the exterior and raking through piles of ivy to pick out every bit of debris they could, plus running over the grass multiple times with the magnet (not all nails can be collected with the magnet though - so it's going to be impossible for any company to get it all). In retrospect I wish I'd offered for them to use our bathroom (didn't even occur to me), so it's something I'd suggest to someone considering any roofers.

It was done well. They went over and above and did some work that had not been included in the insurance companies initial estimate. They were wonderful. I was unemployed at the time, so it was very important for me to get as much as I could for what the insurance company alloted. They were very accessible to me. I had their cell phone and could call at any time day or night.

James and his crew were great. We were in contact quite a bit and James always returned my calls and kept me updated as we were waiting for the weather to cooperate. The crew did the job in one day. I went to work in the morning and by the time I got home, the crew had already come and gone. They contacted me to let me know they found a broken rafter and a few sheets of rotten decking and fixed them with no problem. I was very pleased.

Once I accepted the estimate they went to get the supplies, came back and repaired the missing piece. Everything went smoothly.

She says the person who had come to give her the estimate was very nice and knowledgeable. They had also cleaned up after themselves. My mother liked them as everything turned out fine for her.

Prior to work beginning, we signed a contract between us and A-1. We asked questions to clarify various aspects of the work and got verbal response, however we should have gotten everything in writing that was not detailed in the contract. The roofing and gutter projects went pretty smooth, but the siding aspect of the work had a lot of problems. The siding job that should have taken 3 days took a m month. After we made the payment, there was a disagreement between us and A-1 on the quality and completeness of the work, as well as the final amount due, again because of verbal agreements outside of the contract scope. We reached a resolution through Angie's List's Resolution process and are content with where we've ended up. The project took much longer and required much more of our own time than we had expected and there was a lot of drama. We feel this company has the capability to provide quality work, providing that they have proper supervision and pay attention to details.

They were great and everything was wonderful. They did an excellent job when we used their services in the last year. I wouldn?t have called them back if they wouldn?t have done such a good job. If we have to get another roof done, then we will definitely call them back.

My experience with James Moore was very satisfactory from start to finish. I got 4 estimates to make the repairs from the June 2nd hail damage. Besides being the lowest, he did additional work and stayed within the amount the insurance company would pay for. All his employees and other companies he used were prompt and courteous and it was clear that they respected James. Whenever I called James, if I didn't reach him, he returned my call the same day. When someone accidentally dented my garage door, he had a replacement panel put in, no problem. While I hope Inever have to go through all this again, if I did, I would hire A-1 without hesitation.

They had to work with my insurance company to make sure that it was sized correctly and quoted correctly. I chose them because they had good reviews, and I liked my relationship with the owner Mr. James. I have recommended them to other people.

They were careful where they parked so others could get through in the neighborhood. They picked up debris and left 2 spare bundles of shingles for the future which I requested. Rather than hand pounding, they used a gun that had gripping nails to prevent it from pulling out. We saw the work they did to the neighbor's house, which is part of the reason why we wanted to use them. Their price was competitive w/ other bids that we had received. We used the Angie's List discount.

Jim Moore was willing to go by the insurance estimate to replace my hail-damaged roof, and he interfaced with the estimator to get some more money for more shingles that were needed. We were on vacation the week the work was done, and it was great to arrive home to a brand new roof! I called Jim about some siding that didn't look right where it met the roof, and he came immediately and fixed it. We have found about 15 nails all together on our driveway, in our yard, and on the back deck, which isn't too bad considering they probably removed 5,000 nails. My wife did find a circular unit of nails the second time she mowed, near the chimney.

James was very quick to give us an estimate and his price seemed very fair. He is professional and we took note of his Angie's list awards. He brought a large crew in to replace our roof. They completed the job in a timely manner and the roof quality was very good. Unfortunately, his crew was very careless with our gutters and caused quite a bit of damage. When James came out after the job was completed we pointed out the gutter damage. He knew that his crew was at fault and was very quick to bring Willing Guttering Systems out to replace our gutters. We appreciated that he took care of the damage and made things right.

I called A-1 to see if they could inspect my roof for hail damage. I called several other places, they were the first to come out. It took about a week, but the informed me ahead of time that they were real busy with the recent hail damage. Scott came out and inspected the roof and said that there definitely was hail damage and it needed to be replaced. He suggested he be there when the insurance adjuster came out to process the claim. He came out again when the insurance adjuster was there and made sure that he saw all the damage. They came out about a week and half later. It was the 2nd job of the day so they started around 11 or 12 and had the roof finished by about 6pm that night. The roof looks great, and Scott was a pleasure to work with and answered all of our questions to our satisifaction.

Very good! Pleasant experience. They did everything they said they would do. Went above and beyond to come back and make a final repair to gutter.

Felt like company should have brought more of their company. I had to provide my personal things to help them complete the job.

Received an estimate from sales representative, Dave Carter, on 4/7/09. Also got estimates from two other roofing companies. We called Dave on 4/14/09 to let him know he had the job. We told Dave we were concerned about the impending rain and asked how soon he could do the job. He called us back later in the day and said that they could start the job the next morning, [4/15/09]. The crew showed up approximately 8:30 a.m. and stripped the shingles and felt paper. They inspected the roof for any protruding nails that could potentially tear the new felt paper. Then they proceeded to install the new felt paper, shingles, pipe vent flashings and new ridge caps. Some crew members picked up any remaining trash around the house and also cleaned the gutters of any roofing debris. The job was completed to our satisfaction at approximately 1:30 p.m.

A-1 re-reroofed my house in December of 2006 after hail damage. Since then, the roof has leaked by the chimney area. The leak was in my main room and was very visible and unattractive. Because the roof is under warranty, I continually called A-1 Roofing. Each time, the same representative came by and caulked along the roof and I had the affected room re-painted (3 times!) Spring of 2009 came along and the roof is still leaking. After putting a complaint in to Angie's List, the owner came out with his crew and claimed that I had chimney damage and refused to repair and reimuburse for the internal paint job. He also called and said that he would "take it to the next level" if we didn't remove our negative report on Angie's List. We removed our negative report and I had an insurance adjustor and three roofing companies come out to look at the roof. The insurance adustor claimed that my roof had more caulk on it than he had seen in his career. The insurance adjuster and all three roofing companies (all Angie's List) said that the flashing job on the chimney (roofing work) appeared to be the problem. I had one of the three roofing companies re-flash the chimney and would like A-1 to reimburse us for the flashing and the cost to re-paint the room since the roof was under warranty. This has been one of the most unpleasant interactions that I have had with a vendor.

Things went pretty well. I had no problems. They completed the work in a day and did the job and cleaned up before I got home from work. I called them a couple of months later concerned about a leak and they came out the same day. It was not a roof related leak but I appreciated them coming to check so promptly.

They did a great job and cleaned up well; I am very pleased with their work.

There was a little mix up about the initial appointment, but we re-scheduled for a couple of days later. The gentleman showed up on time and was very professional. He looked at the roof and the siding, and even looked at a couple of things inside, even though his company doesn't do indoor work. Based on his estimate, which I thought was very reasonable, I had planned on making an offer on the house. Unfortunately someone else beat me to it, so I will not be using his services. Although, if I had bought the house I would have.
