+ -1 moreI keep Dr Giesel's number on my iPhone have put him in charge of my eyes from now on. I feel very much reassured.
Description of Work: My right eye started flashing and I know this can mean a detaching retina, requiring emergency attention. The ER couldn't find anything and referred me to the 20/20 Eye Clinic. Before I could even call them the next morning, staff called me. I was there by 10AM and drew Dr Giesel. I looked him up on my laptop in the waiting room and he has a wonderful advanced medical education from well known medical schools. His exam used an array of optical devices that showed eveything clearly. He saw thru his scopes that my vitreous is shrinking (age) and tugging on the retina, making it flash. He explained patiently and thoroughly what my behaviour must be to avoid stressing the retina until the detachment completes.

I completely understood what I needed to do for the next five weeks until my follow-up visit with Dr. Mark Michael, my regular doctor in the practice. The young lady at the check-in desk was very pleasant.
Description of Work: I was seeing flashes of light, so my opthalmologist's office staff told me to come in immediately. As soon as standard paperwork was completed, the technician tested my eyesight and eye pressure and gave me drops. After the necessary wait, Dr. Giesel, who is not my regular doctor, saw me. He found a problem with my eye that makes it unstable at this time, and he gave me instructions verbally and in writing about temporary restrictions in my activities.

+ -1 moreThey are very nice there. Dr Giesel answered all of my questions and gave me new prescriptions for glasses and contacts. They have an optician in the office, but I chose to get glasses elsewhere. Ultimately, I felt like he was confident in what he was doing and made me feel at ease, so I will continue to go back there.

+ -1 moreAfter completing necessary paperwork I was taken to an exam room fairly quickly. A nurse took some initial information and a brief evaluation. I was seen by Dr. Giesel shortly after the nurse left. He did the eye exam, answered my questions and then gave me a prescription for new glasses. The optical staff in his office helped me select new frames and ordered my glasses.

+ -1 moreI developed a cataract after retinal surgery, due to the gas bubble used to hold the repair in place. This was expected, as my retinal surgeon had explained it to me. Dr. Rodney Bucher referred me back to Dr. Michael to have this cataract repaired. I had outpatient surgery, the cataract was removed and an artificial lens implanted. This was completely successful. I needed a new prescription for glasses after recovery was complete, and Dr. Michael examined my eyes and wrote the prescription.

+ -1 moreOverall rating of B is a blend of an "A" rating for the staff who perform a large part of the exam and a "C" for Dr. Michael. I have been going to 2020 Eye Physicians of Indiana and Dr. Michael for a number of years and believe that the quality of the exam and Dr. Michael's approach is excellent and very thorough. However, on two occasions Dr. Michael made comments showing lack of respect (one instance to me, as the patient, and one instance to his assistant). I will continue to go to 2020 Eye Physicians, but will request one of the other ophthalmologists in the future.

+ -1 moreI awoke unable to see with one eye; was referred to Dr. Michael by a hospital help line. They told me to come right in and they would work me in. I was seen immediately even though I had no appointment, examined thoroughly, and diagnosed, then referred to a specialist for treatment. They made the appointment for me for the next day. I was very frightened, and they were kind and reassuring, and explained my condition clearly.
Description of Work: Examination, diagnosis of detached retina, and referral to retinal specialist.

Description of Work: In January of 2008, my glasses broke so I took them to 20/20 Vision. They repaired the glasses so they would be functional until my eye exam in May. They did not charge anything for the repairs.
