Description of Work: I bought an Angie's list Big Deal to replace my fiberglass tub/surround with a new tub and tile surround. I paid for additional add-ons: an alcove in the shower (to hold shampoo, soap), new fixtures and tile on the floor. Luis explained the process and estimated it would take 3-5 days. The crew showed up on the day expected and were very concerned about protecting the floors from the door to the bathroom. They spent the first day in demo, installing the new tub and prepping to lay the tile. The second day was spent finishing the install of the new fixtures and laying the tile around the tub. The third day they finished up the tile around the tub and laid the floor tile. Day 4 was grout day and the last day. Luis stopped by a couple of days to check on the work. | |We waited 2 days to use the shower and found there was not much hot water. I emailed Luis and he came the same day to make an adjustment in the shower fixture which corrected the problem. | |My bath looks wonderful. Even better than I imagined. The crew was great they cleaned up everyday and were very courteous. I have a puppy and I know working with him around is challenging and they were great with him. I would recommend 123 Steps to my family and friends.

Description of Work: They remodeled two bathrooms, plus when we saw the quality of their work, we added a few other minor jobs (re-do part of ceiling in basement and a spare bedroom). We selected high end tile and vanity counters (travertine, with complex pattern and trim, and Cambria), so we added materials cost to the deal. Best experience with contractor we ever had as far as keeping things as clean as possible. Tile work was complex and perfect. Owner works with the team, so don't be put off when initial contact is not pressed slacks and button down shirt. He works closely with his employees and with customers so contact is easy. This company delivered MORE than promised and we are thrilled with the experience as well as the results.

Description of Work: Just completed a bath remodel and this company was great! They made our old bathroom look like new. Very skilled with plumbing, tile, drywall and electrical. I want them to do a kitchen make-over for me next year!

Description of Work: Luis walked around the outside of my house to look at damage from carpenter bees. He looked at the siding to determine if any pieces needed repair or replaced. He was at my house for less than 1/2 hour. He didn't send me estimate, but said he could repair the problems right away. When I didn't hear from him, I called him and he told me that he was on vacation with his family. He couldn't get the work done on my house until August. I was closing on my house on the 14 of Aug. I needed the work done before that time. He still charged me $175. For his time. I paid for 4 hours and getting the work done. I never heard from him again.

Description of Work: In addition to installing bathtub and tile I also had them install new toilet, vanity and light, new light switch. |1. They were too unprofessional and did substandard work in my opinion. When I pointed out issues I had with their installation of the tile, the vanity light, the shower curtain, etc. the contractor and or his wife would become argumentative. |2. The light switch was not installed by the contractor, but was installed by his wife. The installation caused the light in the hallway and the light in one of the bedrooms not to work. The contractor had to redo the work on the light. |3. Had to redo installation of the medicine cabinet, vanity light, because the cabinet was so low I would hit my head when trying to wash my face. Contractor advised me those were installed up to standard. |4. They also removed my baseboard in the bathroom (not at my request). The baseboard they installed did not extend all the way to the bath tub. They filled in the gap with caulk. When I complained about that they told me they did not charge me for the baseboard. I advised them even if they did not charge for it they had an obligation to install the baseboard correctly. |5. I had too many issues with the quality of the work. I advised that I would not pay them the difference owed and was actually thinking of hiring another contract to correct their errors and redo some of the work. My husband wanted me to reconsider and let them work out the issues I had. I did do that, but I can not honestly say I was completely satisfied. |I took photos of the work and they are available for review. |

Description of Work: Removed old molded shower enclosure. Adjusted plumbing to accommodate new porcelain tile shower. Constructed new tile shower and, as an add on, removed vinyl flooring and replaced with tile. Installed new shower doors. Work was done well. Contractor was responsive and completed the work as expected.

Description of Work: Replaced leaking shower floor and fixed drywall that was damaged due to the leak.It went terrific and I will definitely use them in the future. I will recommend them to anyone I talk to.A+ all the way. Very professional workers.

Description of Work: They removed the old tile from the shower, shower door and bulkhead above shower, and toilet. We provided the new tiles and toilet. They also retiled the floor. The new shower included a nook for toiletries and replacement shower head and handle in the finish we wished. We were happy with the service and work. We had a concern with some areas that they quickly returned and fixed to our satisfaction. They are willing to return if any other issues arise in the future.

Description of Work: Luis and his crews did a labor-only tile job, installed my tub and fixtures, and moved a wall to fit the tub, which included drywall patching, mudding, etc. The job took a little less than a week, though they graciously came back the next week for a few touch-ups. | |Things I appreciated: |They were timely. Luis got us into his packed schedule after another job was pushed back due to weather. We were expecting our second child a week after they finished, so we were very grateful to get it done. They worked quickly for the most part (there were a few different crews for different jobs, and not the same thing can be said about all of them). |Luis worked with us on payment options and was very responsive to our ideas and needs. He was respectful and friendly, as were most of his employees. |Luis was knowledgeable and gave us good pointers on different products, etc. |The tile job is beautiful and well done. |Luis came back the next week to do a few touch-ups on grout, mud, caulk. He went the extra mile on a few things: primed over the mud, did extra touch ups on other walls, bought and installed some trim along the floor of the tub. | |Things that could have been better: |Like many laborers, clean up was a little wanting. They left soda cans and cigarette butts and leftover lunches on our property. Oops. |Most of the laborers worked quietly and respectfully, which I appreciated a lot being 9 mo pregnant with a two year old in a small house. However, one day, I was trying to nap but was awaken by what sounded like a party in my living room. There were female voices (maybe just someone dropping off lunch?) and a lot of laughing and joking in Spanish. I had told the crews to please feel free to eat inside, as it was very cold; up to that point they had not taken me up on the offer. I didn't leave my room but waited for a long time for things to die down. |The drywall job was average with a few things wanting. I was able to cover up some stuff with caulk, but a few things were not great even after touch-ups. Someone had thought to go the extra mile and caulk all our trim, but it was not done well. That said, I worked for a high-end painter and have high standards for caulk jobs. :) |There were a few things to which they could have paid more attention. Luis caulked in the fixtures after we pointed out that it had not been done. They had to take out the toilet and did not properly tighten it (at all) in re-installation. | |These and a few other small things made us feel less satisfied, but overall they did a good job. We really really like our tile job. I would like to give them an A because I liked Luis a lot and thought he did well by us, but the job was just not quite excellent. |
