My furnace is quite old, but he did not pressure me to purchase a new one at this point, though he did warn me that in the next couple of years a law will require new furnace installations to be higher efficiency furnaces which will make the install in an old house like mine more complicated and costly. I would definitely recommend Tin Crafters.

They were also very friendly and I felt comfortable having them in my home. We got a furnace from them in March, and an air conditioner around May. We would recommend them to everyone and will definitely be using them continuously.
Description of Work: Tin Crafters installed a new high efficiency furnace and an air conditioner, including new lines and coil. They also removed our old furnace and AC unit.

+ -1 moreThe Tin Crafters technician thoroughly cleaned the air conditioner and added freon (something that another company told me at the end of last season and quot;couldn't be doneand quot;). He was punctual, professional, courteous and honest. We've lived in our house for five years, and our A/C has never run as well as it does right now. Considering I went into the engagement expecting to be told that the whole system would have to be replaced, the price I paid was a huge bargain. My only complaint about the entire experience is that it took Tin Crafters almost a month to cash my check. They do appear to take Visa/MC, so I would use that the next time I call them.
Description of Work: Tin Crafters came out to do a "clean & check" on my barely functioning air conditioner.

I tried to contact friends for a recommendation for service and that's when it dawned on me to use AL. My assessment to call Tin-Crafters was based on the reports and grading system provided and everything worked out fine.
Description of Work: Prompt for starters. Explained everything he was doing and not doing. Convinced me the problem I was experiencing was an electrical problem w/my breaker system. Cleaned and charged my air-conditioning unit and assured me that it was fine. I would most definitely call them in the future.

+ -1 moreI have used them before when my boiler went out and to have it cleaned. They are always there when they say they will be and, if they are delayed, they always call to let me know. They are very professional and complete the job as quickly as they can. Last year, they also rescued my cat when she became stuck between the pipes. She got stuck between the pipes between the boiler and the hot water heater. I tried to get her out, but she was stuck fast. I knew the pipes had to be removed to get her out. I called Tin Crafters and explained the situation. They came within about 15 minutes, turned off whatever was going through the pipes, unscrewed the pipes and got her out. He said this is the first time he was asked to do this and laughed about it. He was so nice and didn't even charge me.
Description of Work: My boiler went out and they came immediately to get it working. I also had the boiler cleaned and they fixed a gas leak that it had.

They came out in the spring to clean the systems, and after our compressor quit working this weekend (I called Tin Crafters this morning and got an appointment right away) the gentleman spent a good hour checking over the air conditioner trying many different things to determine the problem, and did not charge me right away while I decide what to replace/do. Professional, friendly, clean, HONEST--all the qualities you could want. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to everyone!

+ -1 moreIt went great! I could have spent hundreds of dollars replacing the rusted out valve, but I just paid a basic service fee for him to come out and remedy the problem. He also stayed to ensure the whole house heated to the proper temperature before he left. I was impressed with Lowell's knowledge of the heating system and appreciate the advice he gave me on how to extend the life of my old boiler. I will definitely hire them again for any heating related issues I have.
Description of Work: I had no heat to a section of a home that I just moved into. It was a boiler system that had 2 "zones" or pipes with different thermostats that heated the whole house. One of the zone's pipes were cold and that was the source of my problem. I called Tin Crafters after reading their reviews and had one of their employees come assess the problem that day. They sent an employee named Lowell who was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions about how the boiler system worked. He told me that the problem was the zone control valve wasn't opening because it was very old and had stopped working due to rust. Rather than replace the whole valve, he just pryed the valve open and bypassed its control to the other zones thermostat. He told me that the entire system is ancient (maybe from the 1960's) and should eventually be replaced, but he said as long as the boiler heats the house that I should just use it until it doesn't work.

+ -1 moreWith the age of my air conditioning system and the onset of hot and humid weather we called Tin Crafters (based upon other recommendations herein) to get our system cleaned and serviced. We called on Thursday and scheduled the service call for the following Friday afternoon visit, and call it serendipity or coincidence our A/C stopped cooling that night. Lowell, from Tin Crafters, arrived exactly on time and set about checking the system. The problem it turned out was a combination of things including a large mouse nest and burnt out capacitor within the condenser unit. Lowell cleaned the system up, replaced the burnt wiring and capacitor and then before he left he suggested he check the furnace filter (which needed to be changed… I never think about it during cooling season). Lowell was professional, courteous, and friendly. The whole visit start to finish took less than an hour, and was actually pleasant.
Description of Work: Cleaned a large mouse nest out of our A/C condensor unit, replaced burnt connector wire and burnt-out capacitors, and changed the furnace filter.

The repairman cleaned out my dryer vent, verified my heating, and used silicon caulk to fix a potential leak. He even turned down replacing a valve that did not need replacement-- he could have easily charged me for that if he wanted to, but he didn't, because it didn't need to be replaced.
Description of Work: Checked my dryer venting, heat register operation and water heater valve.

When it still wouldn't work, we scheduled a service call for Monday. Lowell showed up on time, and quickly diagnosed the problem. The part was ordered, and Tuesday Lowell returned to install the part. He was quick and efficient, and has a great personality. This company is the BEST we have ever dealt with, bar none. Then they checked the furnace, replaced the board and checked everything on the furnace; including the fan and central air, to be sure it worked properly. They were very efficient and cleaned up everything afterwards.

+ -1 moreI called on a Tuesday morning to explain my situation after being stood up by a local service over the weekend. I used Angie's List to find a reputable operation that cared to do business in a professional manner. The operator was very kind and accommodating to me over the phone while setting up an appointment. On Wednesday morning, I was very impressed with the man that came out to fix the unit. He arrived much earlier than expected and quickly got to work examining the unit to see what the trouble was. Within minutes he discovered the compressor had blown and also checked the freon capacity. He also checked and replaced the filter in the house and gave me some advice about servicing it. The cost was fair and more importantly my A/C works. I was happy with this company and usually I'm more critical of customer service since it lacks these days. I would not hesitate to use this company for future home repairs.
