Instead of letting them do whatever they wanted, however they wanted, I asked them to use my instructions for certain things. For instance, I spent a good deal of money pulling up carpet and having flooring installed throughout the house. I asked them to use my mop, with my cleaner, to do the floor. They did not. I asked to make sure the doors were shut. The back door does not have a good fitting; it must be pulled closed tightly. When I arrived home, the door was wide open. I asked them to please tuck the bottom of the sheets in. The bed has a footboard and is hard to work around, so I showed them how to use the remote to raise the bed for easier access. Then, they could tuck under the sheets. They did not. I have two dogs, undergoing training in the new house, during a period of almost 6 months recuperation from two leg/knee surgeries. They finally complained of urine smell. I took out the old rug, bought a new rug, and always made sure the floor was clean, just in case. I received a call from the Manager on the day they were to clean, that they entered, the smell was overwhelming, and they refused to clean. She told me that she can not "make" them clean. And after all these years, instead of asking about problems, or offering another crew, I was told to find someone else!!! This, of course, is just the tip of the iceberg. But a good manager (I have been managing people for over 40 years), you do not tell a customer they are "fired", without asking questions.
Description of Work: Provider provided services to me for 20 years. I recently moved into a much smaller home, and am often home when the crew arrives.

Description of Work: The owner came to my mothers house. He cleaned the carpets in the two rooms and the hallway. Extremely professional. The carpets had been cleaned before by another company but he did a much better job of cleaning. My sister in law saw the job he did for my mother and hired him to do the carpets in her house

The owner, Sheila, and I discussed that I wanted a deep clean and that I am very neat and have high expectations. I wanted the home cleaned as though no one had ever lived here. The cleaning team, lead by Missy, arrived about 2pm. I told them where to focus their attention and what I was wanting done. I told them that the window coverings would eventually be replaced and not to spend a lot of time on them. They heard, "Don't clean the window coverings." I told them that the basement is unfinished, but there is a washer and dryer down there to clean. They heard, "Don't clean the basement". I checked on their progress at 5pm and with still having 1/2 the hardwood floors to do, the entire kitchen (I ran the self cleaning over days earlier) and a couple other items. They said they'd be done in a 1/2 hour!! They called me in a 1/2 hour and said they were done. They also called 10 minutes later and said they were still waiting, but also still on the clock. I told them my husband should be there any minute. Their day was over. My husband pointed out a few things that still needed cleaning. He went to check the washer and dryer in the basement and they said there was no need and that it was done. They did not completely clean out the refrigerator because they said the side-by-side doors did not open wide enough to get the drawers out. My husband pulled the fridge out from the wall to give them access. I guess they weren't planning to clean behind or underneath it either. You 'd think professional cleaners would know a fridge has wheels. He paid them for the 4.25 hours. I checked the house and it was far from move-in condition. They wiped out none of the 4 bathroom cabinets and did not clean the washer and dryer. They missed one bedroom ceiling fan and my sister and law and I cleaned the kitchen the following night for 4 hours. I replaced the oven shelves they did not attempt to clean. I spoke to Donna, the Office Manager, a few days later and told her I thougt the cleaners had arrived with the plan of being done by 5pm. I said I had hired a window cleaner (who was finishing up when the house cleaners arrived) and a carpet cleaner. Obviously I like a clean home and was throwing money at cleaning people. They could have deep cleaned and stayed until 10pm for all I cared. They had no interest.
Description of Work: I requested a 'move-in' clean of a 2 story, 3200 sq ft, 5 year old home.They home was empty. I had already hired a window, carpet, tile and grout cleaner. The house cleaners were to focus on the bathroom, kitchen and hard wood floors. I did not give them a budget and wanted the place spotless.

Home Cleaning Centers regrets that the member had such a poor experience with our company. As the owner, I booked the service and thought that member would be on site during the cleaning which would ensure that her specifications would be met. Having run this business for 24 years, I have come to realize that everyone has his or her own particular standards. We always appreciate when the owner can give their input as this helps us better customize the job to meet their needs. What is acceptable to one is not to another. We also ask that the homeowner review and inspect the completed job to insure their satisfaction. It was the member that did a 30-minute inspection, which included some additional work, which our crew was happy to comply with. Our supervisor left the job site thinking all was well. I was out of town when my office manager spoke to the member the day after the service. It is our company policy to guarantee our work and insure satisfaction. On my return, I was able to reach the member and review the job and offer a resolution to the complaint. Clearly, this was a job that needed more time than I had booked. We would have been happy to return and make any adjustments necessary.

Begin doing business with Sheila Grow and Home Cleaning Centers of America back in the late 1980's. It is one of the best business decisions my wife and I ever made. We have deveopled, over the years, an almost family type of relationship. We are always confident that Sheila's crew will be at our home every other week on our designated day, and when they leave our home is "standing tall" ready for any inspection. If our day falls on a holiday, Sheila always calls us well in advances to pick an alternate date convenient for both of us. The crews have checklists taylored specifically for our home, so if we would like to change a task or add an area, it is a simple matter of calling Sheila, or telling the crew when they are on-site. This is especially important when on the rare occassion our normal crew is unavailable,,, the replacement crew knows exactly what we want addressed. Sheila's rates are competitive, and we know we are getting a great value for our money. We also have complete confidence of our home security, whether we are home or not, on cleaning days. An additional comment... we have a large blonde Golden Retriever. The crew know him well, play with him when they first arrive, let him out in the back yard for awhile if we are not home, and never once complain about the huge amount of blond hair everywhere that they so diligently cleanup. I just can't say enough about the crew's professionalism coupled with their friendliness, and how they treat our home as if it was their home. We strongly recommend Sheila Grow and Home Cleaning Centers of America. And, this is based on over twenty-some years of outstanding service. Thanks Sheila and Crew!!!
