ACE SEWER SVC

I would like to preface my review by letting you know I'm a single woman and first-time new home owner. The gentleman who showed up first wanted to know if I had outside access. I do not. He looked in the basement and saw that the exit pipe was only 3 inches rather than 4. He said he only had a 3-inch cutter that wouldn't work and he wouldn't use a smaller one for the job. He said that for a minimum of $800 he would install an outside access and then use the cutter. I called a friend who is an expert in all house repair matters and he said, first, that a 3-inch cutter probably would fit, but that the inside access should definitely be tried first even with a smaller cutter. When I asked the gentleman from Ace why he wouldn't try using a smaller cutter he said he couldn't guarantee his work and that he didn't want to use the inside access anyway because opening the pipe would result on sewage on the floor. He said he didn't want to have to clean up all that mess - he's been doing this a long time. I told him I would try to find someone who would be willing to use the inside access. He shrugged and with a slight attitude wished me luck and informed me that after today he wouldn't be available until after the weekend. I called another service. They arrived 2 hours later and used the 3-inch cutter (which DID fit) to work through a bunch of roots. The line was not terribly backed up so there wasn't an unreasonable amount of sewage that came out when they opened the pipe. They hosed off the basement floor and my bill will be less than $250. They explained it's best to try this approach and if it seems there's a recurring problem then we can investigate before taking any particularly costly action. I can't help but think the gentleman from Ace was taking advantage of the fact that I am a single woman with little experience in house repair.

The guy was awesome; I really like him. He was fantastic, personable and great. I will use him again in the future.

He was really good. His name was Jeff Holman. The price was freaking fantastic. He put in a clean out valve so he had to dig way down to the pipe, then put in a pipe that comes up and then they stick this thing down there and it spins and cleans it out. He was really good and nice. It was a pleasure to have him around. He knew what he was doing. He took an hour or two and he was just really good.

ACE DOES GOOD WORK, AND THEY DO IT FAST, TOO. THE GUY RUNNING THE SHOW KNOWS HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF HIS EMPLOYEES, AND THEY ARE ALL VERY PICKY ABOUT MAKING SURE THE MESS IS CLEANED UP.
