Tom and his crew did an awesome job on replacing my old concrete stairs and walkway. It's hard to find concrete companies that will do repairs anymore, everyone is interested in the big $$ jobs. Thankfully there are still folks like Tom and his crew. Tom came out, I explained to him what I was looking for, he provided a few suggestions about the ability of moving a downspout since we had to tear out the walkway, he could add a pipe beneath the walkway and have the gutter drain into the grass instead of into the landscaping which was perfect. These are things we wouldn't have thought of on our own, so I appreciated that. He included what I had wanted in addition to his suggestion into the detailed estimate and we went with it. He did exactly what we agreed to. His crew was very friendly and polite. They were very thorough and I could tell take a lot of pride in their work. I also think it's important to mention the fact that Tom is very responsive. I was able to text and call Tom, he responded immediately. That's really hard to find in contractors nowadays. It was a real pleasure working with Tom and his guys. Any other concrete work that I need to have done around here, Tom will be the one I call.

Tom was extremely responsive and helpful from the very first phone call. He spent nearly 45 minutes with me on the phone talking me through the project and the multiple questions I had. I sent him pictures of the job that evening and the next morning he had an initial quote for me. By far the most thorough and responsive of the providers I got quotes from. About a week later I decided to go with Tom and he came out to my house to walk through the job with me. I had some difficult elements that made the project a little more of a challenge. The biggest being that I was getting water in my basement and would need to have a waterproofing company come in and seal the wall after the demolition. Tom was more than accommodating to that request and made several other adjustments to the project to move water away from the house. Tom is clearly a perfectionist when it comes to water, grading, and drainage. He spent a lot of time talking to me about potential solutions and ways he could help. Other problems included an asphalt/concrete mixed driveway and gate posts imbedded in the existing concrete. Tom handled all of those issues without any problems. We agreed upon the final cost and a date to begin the project. Tom's quote was not the lowest, in fact it was the highest, but Tom is the only company that walked through all of the potential issues and came with solutions. His helpfulness and expertise was a huge help and it was all provided before I made the final decision. It was that level of service that put him over the edge. The work was scheduled to be completed in late April but then the rain came. We lost about a week to the rain. At this point I was getting nervous because I had already booked a water-proofing company to come in and seal the foundation wall. Tom agreed to come out and his crew worked in the rain to clear the driveway against the house to allow the water-proofing team to come in and do their work. After that the demolition continued as much as it could between rain storms. It took about 2 weeks to finally have the demolition fully done. From the there the blocking, grading began. Tom called me nearly everyday with updates and explanations and on a couple of occasions physically walked me around the property explaining all of the work. Finally with the rain behind us concrete could be poured. I happened to be home the first pour day. Tom's crew is professional and dedicated. They spent hours smoothing and finishing the first pour and it looked great. Of course the rains came back so it was another week before we could do the final two pours. Tom once again worked with me to explain everything that had been done. He even walked my neighbors through everything as they also had a lot of questions. The village inspector came and said Tom had "gone above and beyond" what needed to be done and noted the high level of excellence. While the project took much longer than anticipated due to the weather, Tom and his crew never rushed anything and took time to do things right. The finished project looks amazing and I couldn't be happier. Tom will be my first call for any future projects big or small, because I know he'll tell me exactly what I need to do and the best way to do it.

Friendly, easy going. He was able to work around my schedule. Did a great job- I've had alot of compliments from the neighbors.

He must be booked or over worked but he did not want to come out here. He asks me to go out and take measurements so he can give me a quote over the phone. I told him I would rather have him look at it and then we discussed it but he said I should give him my email and address and he did not show. That was very disappointed.

Tom and his crew did an great job! I found Tom on Angie's list and went by ratings and reviews. Tom was very professional from first conversation through completion. He did what he said he would do at the agreed upon price. My husband/partner is overseeing the addition and after my initial call to Tom, the two of them worked together. Both of us were very happy with the timeliness and professionalism. We plan to use Tom's Construction when we reconfigure our driveway this fall. I recommend Tom!

I thought I left a review when work was done this summer, but since I don't see it here, I want all to know that Tom takes great pride in his work. He and his crew went above and beyond for me and my front and side porches look awesome! Will absolutely use him again!

We were under a tight timeline, trying to find a concrete professional to get our new driveway in before it got too cold. Tom was immediately responsive, and came out the next day (Sunday morning!) and spent several hours scoping out a plan that would ensure good water run off since we were working with a very flat area with virtually no slope. Once he was certain that he could promise us a top quality outcome, we signed the contract. He got the permit a couple of days later, set the forms, and poured the concrete the next Saturday. because the temperature was predicted to drop, he covered the whole driveway with insulating blankets to prevent freezing overnight. He and the crew set up traffic cones and barriers to keep the neighbors off (we live on an alleyway) and even came back the next day to check on their work. We now have a beautiful 55 foot long concrete drive that drains perfectly. Another thing - he is very price competitive. We got quotes from other companies that were $1000 higher. We definitely recommend Tom! He is a really nice guy on top of it all - he gets our strongest recommendation!

I called Tom mid-September to come out and give me an estimate for sealing the concrete to protect it from the winter elements and whatever ice melting products I use. He came out that following weekend, when I was available, and quoted me a price of $400. When my neighbors saw him, they asked that he provide an estimate to have their front stairs and walk in front of the stairs torn down and replaced because they really liked all the concrete work Tom had done for me. Their front stairs were complicated as they were not solid to the ground. There is actually a room in the basement under them so they are suspended which required extra bracing. When my neighbors signed their contract with Tom, he lowered my price to $300 to say thank you for the job next door and also because he was already going to be here doing that job. Both jobs were completed on October 1st. My neighbor's stairs and walk look great, and I'm very happy to have my concrete sealed for the winter to help preserve it. It's always great working with Tom and his crew. They are very professional, and always try their best to do a great job and satisfy their customers. I will always call Tom for any concrete work I need, and help with any other projects I might need as he know a lot of people.

Very professional! Driveway looks great. Even better than imagined it would. Tom kept me informed on everything that was being done and answered any questions I had regarding job. Because of city requirements regarding where water runoff from drive could now be pitched, we had to change existing pitch on drive & put in a drain system to handle water runoff. Tom met with city inspector to make sure everything was done according to code. Since concrete was poured, we had rain. No puddles of water on any new areas of cement. New drain system worked great. Would definitely recommend Tom's Construction to anyone needing cement work done.

Tom arrived punctually, surveyed the site and described what was going to occur. Pulled the permit needed to perform the work. Hauled away debris, two walking mowers, one riding mower, and snow thrower. Tom also cut and hauled away a fallen tree approximately 6" in diameter and 30 feet long. Raised and leveled a square in my walkway for safety. Removed and reset a panel of fencing for ease of access to the worksite. Removed and reinstalled two gutters for ease of installation of sidewalks. Provided a contact to install the backyard shed, which initially I was going to install. That worked out as well. Cleaned up and removed all debris created during performance of work. The best that I could say about Tom's overall work and attitude would not adequately describe his qualities; excellence personified!!

I am so glad that we found Tom on Angie's list. We had been debating on what to do with our backyard. We had thought about patio pavers but since we already had a Concrete Patio we thought we would get an estimate on how much it would be to extend our patio. Tom came out and provided us with some good suggestions. He helped us by drawing an outline of what our patio could look like in the dirt. We already had a half circle and decided to go with continuing that shape onto the new addition. Tom came with his crew, prepared the site and poured the concrete over three days. They were very efficent and did an awesome job cleaning up the site once they were done. Tom also pointed out some concerns in our existing concrete pad and fixed those for free. We couldn't be happier with our extended patio and can't wait to entertain now that we have ample space! If we are ever in need of a concrete man we know exactly who to call from now on!

Tom initially gave me an estimate over the phone but then came out to the house and gave me a price after seeing the work. Tom did all the leg work with the village and securing the permit. He knew the building department personnel personally, and after speaking with the village and finding out about newer more stringent requirements. the price was increased to accommodate for additional material costs. He did complete the work in a timely manner and with quality, professional, workmanship. I am, myself, in the trades and have seen all levels of construction professionalism and quality. Tom is knowledgable and solid at what he does. I was very pleased with the end result an would recommend him to anyone who asked.

We had a great experience with Tom! We had initially met with three separate contractors for this job and Tom really stood out from the other two. It was very obvious he knows pretty much everything you would want to know about concrete work and cares about doing a great job for his customers. We needed someone to tear our our old patio that had sunken/cracked in a few spots (and was an awkward size on top of it) and possibly put in a new step to the house (the old step was very low to the ground and narrow, so you basically felt like you could fall out onto the patio walking out). Another goal that we had for this area was a pergola that my husband and father are going to be putting in themselves, so we needed four foundations poured for the support beams. Tom came up with great ideas for us- one of which was an angled step off of our bay patio door area. He also suggested placement of additional control joints to give the patio a more decorative effect. We also felt his price was fair for the amount of work to be done. The work took a total of 4 days (not including the inspection day). Tom and the guys working with him (Shane and Jerry) were very professional and took care with our yard and home. They were meticulous in their work and very patient, especially with our two young sons who were very interested in everything Tom was up to. Everything was cleaned up properly at the end of each work day. The end result is fantastic. I initially wasn't sure about the angled step off of the patio and really, it is my favorite part! I have this big, beautiful WIDE step that makes going in and out of the house so much easier. The control joints were placed at an angle to mimic the step and it really looks great. Both my husband and I are thrilled with it. I would not hesitate to recommend Tom and it is likely if anyone in my family has a need for this type of work, he will be getting a call. In fact, Tom is currently putting a new patio in for my neighbors across the street- I'm sure they will be as happy as we are. Now, onto that pergola...

Thomas Burke' s company did an excellent job. He obtained the necessary permit from Gary which was not easy. He furnished the materials and performed the labor necessary to completion the job in a timely fashion. He did not increase the price when unforeseen work was needed. Very pleasant and kind man.

I must admit that after the first time I talked with Tom I knew he was going to be my guy. I talked to about 10 contractors in total and he was about the 4th person I talked to. I explained to him what I wanted and he took it from there. He designed a patio that is just more beautiful than words can express. I say design because, he didn't just come in here and pour a boring plain square patio, he put some thought and effort into it. I have 2 rose bushes that I wanted to keep and he came up with a great tear drop design around them that pulls the whole job together. There was some prep work that I was going to do to help keep costs down, so he gave me pointers on how to make it easier for me to do the work, as well as some things to consider while I was doing it to make things a little easier for him to help keep his costs for the total job down. While he was here doing the work he had a couple questions about future plans for the area, and with that information he was able to make my future work easier for me, along with some more pointers, things to consider, and good design ideas. When the work was close to complete, he noticed that some of the lawn had been torn up from where I had cut down a tree and done some other work. Since he was already here and had his bobcat on site, he offered to help me out by grading it for me and putting down some black dirt and seed for a very small and reasonable price. I am so glad I did it because it would have taken me a week to do what he, his man, and his bobcat did in just a few hours. I cannot say enough good things about Tom's Construction. I would, and have already, recommend him to anyone I know. several neighbors have commented on how gorgeous the work is, and many others have asked for cards. Tom is not out to make a million on every job, he's just out to make a reasonable salary doing what he loves to do. Not to mention he's a local guy with a "Family Owned" business which is great for me cause I love keeping my money local instead of giving it out to some big corporation or big box store!

Contacted Tom to get an estimate on putting in new patio at rear of house, repair damaged stoop at side door and fill in space on side of the house with concrete. Tom came out a couple of times so we could discuss the details of the requested work and to answer my questions. We agreed on the work and price and set a date. Due to the rain, the date was changed several times, but Tom always kept in contact. After the rain stopped, Tom was able to complete the requested work in a timely manner. I really like my new patio. Tom also fixed some other things for me that weren't included in the contract. It was a pleasure working with Tom, he's very nice and knowledgeable.

Overall it went very well! He was on time and let us know what was going on through out the entire project. It even solved a water pitch problem we'd had. When I had a second concrete job I needed done he was the first person I called, and I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable, honest work.

I had used Tom a couple years before for a driveway project, so I called him first and again it went great! The patio he poured is curved, and has a sort of kidney shape to it. I did not want a flat concrete slab, so he and his crew came up with some ideas and ended up with a wonderful plan that looks great! Honestly, it looks so good it should be put in a magazine!

Tom clearly takes great pride and demonstrates passion in his work. He took the time to fully explain the steps that would be taken. Not only was the work completed with the utmost care, but Tom and his team went above and beyond after encountering a family of opossums under one of the concrete slabs. He also took the time to paint match the posts on the porch and touch up the downspout on the side of the porch. Not only do we recommend Tom's Construction, but we will leverage his expertise when we expand the porch next year. Well done, Tom and team!

Tom was very professional, came on time, did the work as scheduled and on cost. His assistants were all professional in the performance and execution. They removed the three sections of walkway which had broken up, examined the reasons for the break down of old walk and suggested solutions. They laid out the forms, taking care with the plants which were along the walkway and removed paving stones which surrounded the gardens. The following day they poured the new walk and finished it. I am completely satisfied with the work his company did and I would recommend him to other needing this type of concrete work.

I called Tom at the beginning of April. He came out and measured for the slab. I signed the contract and paid a down payment. Tom started the job on April 30th and finished the job on May 1st. The patio is about 14' wide and 36' long. The patio looks good and I am very happy with the work that they did.
