He is the general building guy but he subcontracts. It is hard to find somebody that can do plaster work in a hundred year old house. I won't say anything bad about Mr. Reinbrecht but I would not hire the people that he had do our masonry work for us. I will be generous in saying that they were here maybe 5 hours in 4 days. That's generous. It was run in, do something, say you'll be back, leave the fans running and never come back. Then you come back the same day and do the same thing. One day they stayed for 10 or 15 minutes I think, maybe 20. It just wasn't professional. There was pinholes in the masonry that the painter had to deal with. I already had crown moulding up and they got masonry in it, which had dried too much and we couldn't get out for him to paint. The wall was not flush all of the way down. On the last day I think I kind of insulted them but I asked them if I had to lock the door. They looked at me kind of funny and I said, so that you don't leave until you finish the work. I was tired of the plaster dust and the mess and it was in my kitchen where I had to be.
Description of Work: I used Reinbrecht Homes in February or March. I had pantries put in and we needed masonry work done around them so that we could put up the trim.

Even though they built a beautiful home, in my opinion, Reinbrecht does not seem to be good with the details? the painter left splatters of paint throughout, door stops were missing, shelves were not completely attached in closets, yard left in less than ideal condition full of crabgrass. Reinbrecht?s weakness, again in my opinion, was in their presentation of the home and (so far) in their customer service follow up. Although the home is beautiful, the following items were some of those noted during the pre-closing walk-through: Landscape overgrown with weeds; Broken sprinkler cover; Rust stains on drive, patio; Bird nest in gutter above entry; Missing light bulb over front porch entry; Roof shingles out of place over patio; Paint chip in master (wall, ceiling); Door stops damage and missing; Paint splatter in living room; Lack of general inside cleaning; Loose hall floor boards; Nail heads showing in living room. These may seem like minor items and if I was buying a pre-owned home from a private individual I would not have been as concerned. But this is a brand new home from a premier builder. Proper quality control would have taken care of most of these items prior to a walk through. I at least expected a thorough cleaning and vacuuming/dusting to remove spider webs, etc. inside the home. And what seller would not see that a porch light was installed and working! Over two months after closing, I was tired of waiting for some of the items to be taken care of by Reinbrecht, so I went ahead and removed the bird nest from the gutter, bought and installed a porch light, and took care of some other items. Reinbrecht has slowly taken care of some of the items, but they have not been very good about returning my phone calls during the past year. I purchased this home in June 2012 and here we are going into Christmas 2013 without full resolution. My last request for the missing door stops in which I was promised that it would be taken care of was just before the July 4th holiday 2013. A big issue that surfaced shortly after moving in was with the cable/internet connectivity when Wow Cable came out on July 19, 1012. The good news was that the home has great insulation. The bad news was that the cable company could not locate all existing components/connections because of the thick foam insulation. Of the 6 cable connections available inside the home, the cable company could only activate one because the other devices were apparently buried within the insulation and they could not locate them. The cable company asked me to have Reinbrecht?s electrician provide a schematic so they could finish activating all of the connections. I contacted Reinbrecht and two months later (September 25) the electrician showed up and informed me that some of the physical cable wires had not even been installed in the initial build. He was able to install the cables and the cable company was able to complete their installation. Also, on October 19, 2012 Brackett Heating & Air discovered a missing piece on the furnace where the filter is inserted. To their credit, Reinbrecht dispatched his sheet metal crew that same day to fix the problem. Overall, this has been a much different experience than I had with the new home I purchased in Virginia a few years ago and sold when I moved to Evansville. In that case, the builder went through before I did to make sure that I did not find any discrepancies during my walk-through. That home was presented to me in a truly new spotless condition. One final item I will mention and I like to think that this was due to a lack of communication between the developer and the builder, rather than an attempt to mislead. During the sale I was told that a Homeowner Association (HOA) would be formed when all homes in the subdivision were completed? Imagine my surprise when I received a notice from the HOA a few weeks after moving in saying that I owed dues already! And no, all of the homes are not completed; there are many remaining unsold building sites in the subdivision.
Description of Work: I purchased a new home on June 26, 2012 built by Reinbrecht Homes. The home was not custom built for me but was built and placed for sale on the open market. The home seems to be of good quality materials and workmanship. Especially impressive are the energy efficient technologies and healthy spaces applications.
