Premier Restoration

I wasn't happy about having to call so much for an estimate.

This was probably one of the worst home repair/improvement projects I have experienced. Once I signed on the dotted line to have the work done, it was almost 2 months before the project began and that was after I called numerous times to get a date on their calendar. (I needed an approximate start date so I could make sure I had reservations for my dogs in day-care so they would not be in the way of the crew and I didn't know how they would react to all the noise and activity. I figured it would be better to be safe than sorry in this case.) I had taken the day off to be around the house in case any surprises popped up during the project so I know the roofing crew didn't show up until around 9:00 am and didn't really get started until almost 10:00 am. It was a fantastic late September day with temps in the low to mid 70's and sun shine. All the materials had been delivered a couple of days earlier so there wasn't really any reason for them to have to wait around to get started. The removal of the debris was an easy process and I'll give the crew credit for cleaning up afterwards. There was very little debris in the yard after they were done. However, the installation was less than great. All of the ridge venting was incorrectly installed. Based on the manufacturers instructions, the vent is to stop approxiamtely 12" from the edge of the roof. The crew installed it all the way to the very edge of the roof. There are a number of "nail pops" where the shingles are popping up because the nails were not hammered in to the point where they were flush with the surface on the shingle underneath. There are two areas on the front of the house where they cracked or broke the vinyl siding. (The broken pieces cannot be replaced because it is no longer manufactured.) They bent two of the down spouts so badly that they are now worthless. The roofing over an extended picture window has a gap at the top so water can run down behind the wall. In addition the ends of the corners were installed so that insects can easily crawl up under the shingles to build nests or who knows what else. The project manager never did show up for a final walk through after the installation. So there was not an opportunity to discuss the issues. Repeated phone class and emails to discuss the problems have gone unanswered. Premier has fallen off the face of the earth. I'm now stuck with a roof that could rip right off if a strong enough wind comes along to get up under the nail pops or push up the end of the ridge vent.

The owner's name is Jeremy and they have done about 100 roofs in the area. I had damage to my roof and was actually looking for someone to do the job. I called my insurance company and they sent an evaluator out to get the process started. They matched the proposal of the insurance company. They ended up getting down to the job in a couple of months because my insurance check did not process for a few months, but as soon as it came, they were out here and did the job. They had a 10-man work crew and got it done in about a day. The gutters took a little longer. I think that I waited for about a month before they could get a crew out to do the gutters. The insurance company has paid the first part of it and we are still waiting for them to send us another check for the second half. I went up there and inspected it and they have done a good job and I have no complaints. The quality was excellent and the new roof and new gutters seem to be to building standards. They could be a little better on responsiveness. I had to call them a few times to get a call back, but once they knew that I needed attention, Jeremy came out once here and solved my questions and he ended up getting the process started. They came out and did the job as soon as they said they would do it. They did it within the week that they said they would. I wish they would have a secretary or something to handle more of the human resources part of the business. They could expand their business a little more and get a secretary to handle timings, appointment and phone calls, and maybe a store front for their business since he now runs it out of his house. There are like three guys working their tail off and they need a face for their company.
