Description of Work: Phil replaced base boards in two bath rooms, fixed a folding attic stairway, and re-tiled walls around our fireplace. He was very skilled and professional. The base board are perfect, and the tile looks great. I would definitely hire Phil again.

Description of Work: Mr. Van Prooyen replaced 6 outside window shutters and repaired some storm damage to trim work on the outside of the house. He was able to make all the repairs in one day and cleaned up the worksite completely. I am very happy with the result.

Description of Work: Mr. Phil Van Prooyen came over on time to give us an estimate on removing the old kitchen countertop, disconnecting the water under the sink and dishwasher, leveling the base cabinet, and attaching new cabinet doors and drawers which we had ordered online. He also was asked to install two new lazy susans. We had read on Angie's list that he had a nice personality and a willingness to get the job done right. To our surprise, he was irritable and very negative, not wanting to do much on our kitchen renovation, but offering numerous excuses instead. He said many of the tasks were too complicated and he didn't really want to do them. We reduced the job requirements to his liking, and waited to confirm a start date. He agreed on the phone to a start date, and we expected him to show up on that date. He also told us he expected to get paid 50% up front before doing any work. When we called to remind him of the start date, he contended that we had not agreed to a start date, and said he had found another job in the meantime. After treating my wife rudely on the phone, we mutually agreed to cancel the job. It appeared as though he had wanted to do little work, but wanted to get paid for a sizeable job remodeling our kitchen. He was the rudest workman that we have ever dealt with. We wish he had just been honest with us from the start, and we could have avoided a lot of the unpleasantness. Two days before the scheduled installation of our new granite countertop, we were left "holding the bag," looking for someone to do this work. Fortunately, we found someone who was an professional carpenter specializing in kitchen cabinets, who did an excellent job for half the cost estimated by Mr. Van Prooyen.

Description of Work: Phil repaired another contractor's improper door installation by fixing the entry door strike plate. He put a front panel on a drawer, installed missing trim on 3 upper cabinets, installed a sliding drawer box, and modified a closet opening so a new door would fit. After installing the door, he put trim around it and added the door handle. The work looks great!
