Michael came to evaluate my concern of bedbugs. He found no indication of them. He did not charge me for the visit. Honesty is difficult to come by in some services. I appreciated his honesty - and not charging for doing nothing! Thank you!!

what a scam. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! Came out and sprayed the week of sept 19. (routine spray no problems at the time). Paid 180 for initial spay. Three weeks later called and told them I had tons of spiders, lady bugs and stink bugs. He stated they were very bad this year (Hmmmm there bad every year that's why I have someone spray to keep them under control). He wanted to charge me an additional 60 bucks to come spray again. I think if I had bug issues right after you sprayed you should be coming back for free to fix it. Going back to my old company. They sprayed every 6 months and I never ever had bugs. This guy will reply that there is only 10 day guarantee and they would come back and spray for free. What a joke. Stand behind your product.

No animals were caught. The noise I had been hearing disappeared. I wanted a picture of were the raccoon had been entering my roof but the technician said he could not provide that. I had to take his word for the damage and repair. That I was not comfortable with. I would use this company again but only after I have tried others.

They're prompt. They keep their appointment. They're flexible in their appointment times. They're very prompt. They're available on Saturdays. It took a couple of visits for them to get rid of all the ants.
Description of Work: I used the Guardian Pest Control. They sprayed the house. We're infested with ants. They came and they spread the house with the pesticide. They did the whole inside and the outside where the ants were. They were most concentrated on the kitchen so they did the outside wall around the kitchen.

I hired the service to support me with finding entry points for the rodents invading my new home. I felt a sense of urgency to hire someone quickly as this was a recurring problem with damage to my basement. The employee who assessed the home informed me I had two issues, both chipmunks and mice somehow getting into my basement. This required two separate service contracts from this provider; one for the chipmunks and the other for mice removal. The charge for both service contracts was close to $500.00. I immediately agreed and wanted to get the trapping process started. The employee informed me that they will leave traps outside, and advised me to NOT seal the point of rodent entry with my builder, as chipmunks may be inside and can potentially come upstairs if they feel their entry/exit is closed in the basement. My builder and I then both monitored the trapping progress. We were told that when the rodent activity faded, that was the time to seal the entry point. Activity reports were provided by the company daily. The reports read, and quot;Activity notedand quot; which I now understand does not necessarily mean they caught anything, however, traps had slightly shifted or activity was noted outside of the trap. My builder said he witnessed employees from the company at the house checking the traps, and spoke to them about not having actual rodent catches in their traps. My builder was wondering why he couldn't seal the entry point while he was out working in the neighborhood. I told my builder that my daily reports said and quot;activity notedand quot; so we should wait to seal the entry per the recommendations of the company. The wording of and quot;activity notedand quot; on the company's daily report is confusing, as I assumed it meant they were trapping rodents consistently. My builder again in speaking with the employees of the company who came to check traps was told that nothing was being actually caught, but activity was noted. The company informed me then on two occasions that they do not trap on weekends as it was and quot;against the law.and quot; I was very confused by this, as I wondered how such a business could be a Monday through Friday operation? Since anyone who has struggled with rodents in their home can attest, rodents do not stop entering your home because it's the weekend. I heard activity in my home on the first weekend after my service with this provider was initiated. I therefore called the emergency on call number for support. I spoke to the on call service twice, and I never received a call back from the provider that weekend. I called because I had heard mice in my walls and assumed therefore that the problem was getting worse instead of better. I then arranged for the builder and the provider to meet with me as a group for an update and plan. Again, the employee informed us that when we identify less trapping, we can seal the entry. My home builder then told me that based on his observations from working in the area and seeing the employees of this company to check in, there had been reports of no rodents being caught. My builder said it should be ok then, based on his discussion with the employee, to seal the entry point of these rodents into the home. The builder did so with cement, and I then had the employee set an extra chipmunk trap in my basement (after we sealed the entry point) as a precaution. With this company, you must be available to meet the employee at the home (by law) in order for them to check the trap daily. I was told this had to be between 8:30 and 4:00 p.m. Although very difficulty with my work, I was able to accommodate this most days, but could not do so on the second day following the sealing of the entry point. I then noticed the outdoor traps were also removed without my knowledge. Apparently my service was complete, without any notice. Two days later, I arrived home from work only to hear loud banging in my basement of what sounded like a rodent trying to escape, what the company warned me about. I called the emergency line at the provider twice with no response. On my third call within the hour, the on cal service assured me I would get a call back. The employee finally did call and was disrespectful, seemingly that this was occurring late at night. He informed me that for an extra $350.00, they can come out tonight to evaluate the situation. I explained that I have an existing $500.00 contract with this provider until the problem is resolved. I reminded this employee that the problem worsened and didn't improve over time. He insisted rudely for my credit card information which I did provide. The employee who came out at night was very kind, and assured me the home was safe at this point with no rodents. I have since researched and learned that nuisance permits are carried by rodent removal providers such as Guaridan. I verified that the company has a nuisance permit. I asked the employee to help me find the law that stated that with a nuisance permit, the company can therefore not catch rodents on the weekend, as two employees explained. The employee then confirmed that the law refers to someone needing to be home daily to meet the company employee, as traps must be checked daily by law. Nowhere does it state on the Indiana Department of Natural Resources website, that it is against the law to trap on the weekends with a nuisance permit. When you hire this type of service, it is usually because there is a crisis pertaining to rodents having entered into one's home, and obviously that needs immediate attention. What I didn't take the time to ask or consider carefully is the ramifications of skipping weekend service. Once they remove the trap on Saturday mornings, this company doesn't come back with more traps until sometime on Monday. How then can the company really determine if and quot;activity was noted consistentlyand quot; which was the determining factor for when to seal the rodent entry points? It is not against the law to trap on the weekends. This company chooses to not work on the weekends. They have someone check and remove the traps on Saturday morning, but then do not replace them. Additionally, not answering or responding rudely to on call emergencies is unacceptable for a company that advertises on call service. This was a very expensive mistake, I just hope this information helps others from a terrible experience. It would have been much easier for me to buy my own traps for less then $20.00 and have them outside and checked daily. The employees in this provider's office during the week were kind and accommodating with my efforts to coordinate my builder and their employees. The on call service apologized for the lack of call backs by the provider on the weekends.

We had been hearing some kind of critter in our attic intermittently. Thought it was in attic area but also sounded like it could be in an area where outdoor screen room connected to house. Called Guardian around 1:30 office personnel checked with technician same day time and appt. set between 3-5pm with a call 20 minutes prior to arrival for free evaluation/estimate of situation. Dan arrived promptly around 3 pm evaluated and inspected attic and roof area. It was determined that mice are the culprit. I accepted the diagnosis and treatment was done at the same time. Also installed a screen over a vent area that critters were likely to enter. Treatment was placed in attic, garage, basement and outside. Dan is professional as well as the office personnel. We also used Guardian end of last summer for a enormous hornet nest that was built in one of our trees. Dan was the technician at that time and provided the same service as he did today. That is one reason why I chose Guardian today. Prompt, efficient and gets the job done! I read that others feel Guardian is expensive and I did not do a comparison, I feel that if a company and employees are professional and proficient in their services that paying a little more is well worth it.

I initially contacted this provider back in September because I was hearing various strange noises coming from my attic space and thought I had a raccoon or something up there. The person that came out was very pleasant and on time. He looked inside my attic space and also showed me that there was nothing there and confirmed that my attic space was very secure. Since I didn't want to waste the visit, I asked if he could spray (due to the fact that I was seeing so many centipedes and other bugs) and put down some traps to ensure that I prevent a rodent problem since it was starting to get cold out. He was very nice. He sprayed the outside perimeter of my home first and then the inside...top to bottom. He also added a couple of traps and sprayed inside my attached garage. I had a very good experience with this provider and will definitely use them again. I believe that the price was good.

Outrageously expensive for the services performed! No problem with the workmen or the work they did in their visits 2-3 times a week for the first month. The visits took about 4-5 minutes each. It was simply not enough bang for the buck and I now know you STILL must be careful when using Angie's list.

Scheduling the appointment was very easy and the receptionist was very efficient and professional. The person that perform the actual service arrived a bit early which was great. He explained the process to me and began to expect the outside perimeter for possible entry. Afterwards he explained his findings and the cost. The service was performed on the following Monday which was a very quick turn around. He left a written note explaining the work we agreed upon and informed me of the next time he would come out to check how the sealants had formed. The only negative to this experience for me was the cost which did not include any follow up in the event that some how God forbid a mouse did find away in this winter.

In January, I had a problem with ants on the first floor of my home that was not taken care of by over the counter baits and sprays. Guardian was able to come out the same day. They charged $160.00 for the first visit, and $55 for subsequent monthly visits. However, if a problem arises in between visits, they stand by their guarantee and will come out for free. 10 days after my initial visit, the ants had only abated in my kitchen, so I called and, true to their word, Guardian returned free of charge to respray. I have had them come out every month since, and the ants have disappeared. The only ants I have seen in the house for the past several months are dead ones by the baseboards. The telephone staff and the technicians have been friendly and professional, and I feel that they have done a thorough job. For whatever it's worth, Guardian performs pest control services at my office building and they do a fine job there as well.

I had this company exterminate my home, my neighbor's home (upstairs condo) and my father's home. The technician was very knowledgeable and friendly however he was little unclear about the strength of the products. I made it clear that I wanted strong products. I got a little suspicious when he told me about their monthly payment plan. basically, they charge around $165 for the first extermination then $55 each month after if you need them to return. I got suspicious because I am thinking, If you exterminate effectively, why would I need you to return? Plus I had worked with an extermination company in the past that doesnt service my area and they never had to return after one extermination. He told me something about government regulations only allow products that last a month. So, our place is ok. I have seen a few spiders since but definitely less. My neighbor says she has seen a few bugs too but not many. Although, our places weren't that bad to begin with. My dad's place however has a problem with ants that return every year. Guardian was unable to control the problem. They came out within 10 days and re-exterminated for free as per their guarantee but the ants came right back and at that point Guardian tried to sell me on the monthly contract deal. I will be returning to my old company for my dad's place. I am sad they don't come to my area.

Response from Guardian Pest Control Inc
All products that are licensed from the EPA are made to break down anywhere between 28-32 days!! That is all anybody who is licensed for pest control has access to. We perfomed a service at (Member name removed) home on 5/2/13 for $160 for general pest and ants. Our services are guaranteed and we offer a month to month service if needed so a customer does NOT have to sign a contract. It is up to the customer if they want to have any follow up services for prevention or even if they need it. There is no way we can guarantee if a one time treatment will solve any problem because so many other factors come into play. (Member name removed) did not take a follow up service which was her choice and was not needed in her situation so we performed the service she paid for!! We performed a service at her father's home in Evanston on 5/6/13 for $160 for general pest and ants. We went out on 5/17/13 when they called and said they were still seeing ants in the study and the kitchen. The technician saw no activity in the study and saw 2 ants in the kitchen under the stove. We did retreat the area per our guarantee. When (Member name removed) is disappointed, she neglects to state the fact of that her father's caregiver told the technician on 5/17/13 and is documented, when we came back out to retreat, that the day after we originally treated on 5/6/13 the cleaning service came and cleaned up all the floors. At that point the chemical that we used was no longer there. She had the option of taking a follow up service like any other customer but she chose not to. (Member name removed) states that the another pest control company never had to return for a follow up visit, but neither did we for her home and probably would have not in her father's home if the chemical would have not been cleaned up.

The man was very nice and thorough. They gave me a free general inspection. They did not see evidence of any wild animals and so there was no charge..
Description of Work: I called them because I thought that there was a squirrel in my walls. I had been hearing scratching and popping noises for some time now and the pest control company that I have indicated that they only service mice and rats but that they did not do wild animals. They gave me another number for a provider. I did not use the number but called Guardian because of their rating on Angies list. The serviceman came within an hour of my call. He inspected the roof and attic. He did not find evidence of any wild animal activity and suggested that I call the pest control company that I used because he thought that the noises could be mice. The service was free and the guy who came out answered all of my questions and was very polite.

They did not remove the dead animal upon arriving stating that live animals may be under the house creating a hazard for them to enter the crawl space. They did not have a jumpsuit to go under house and ASKED for a face mask (which I happened to have). Therefore, it seemed like they did not even have the proper equipment to look under the house. They did set traps, but they never caught anything in the 72+ hours that traps were on the property. When I called after 24 hours, I did not get a straight answer on when they would remove the dead animal. They indicated that it would be 5 days after the first call! The house was not fit to live it due to the awful smell in the entire house. I ended up hiring another firm to remove the dead animal at a cheaper price, too! And when they first showed up, they pulled way up in the driveway - with a dead skunk in the back of the pick up truck. If I thought the smell was bad to start, it was even worse with that truck there. My poor neighbors had to smell skunk, too. He parked within 10 feet of my nieghbor's kitchen window. I would not hire them again or recommend them to anyone. There are better companies out there that will do the work faster and cheaper.
Description of Work: They were called due to a dead possum in the crawl space under the house. They were hired to remove the dead possum and catch any additional animals living under the house by setting traps. They were also hired to use a deodorizer in the crawl space and house to remove the odor of a dead animal.

Three ground hogs had taken residence in our back yard, under our deck and our shed. We called Guardian, and they came to our home the same day. The serviceman was very professional, told us that a technician would come out every day except weekends to set up traps, check the traps, and give us updates. He made recommendations for a permanent fix (blocking off the small openings at the base of the deck and shed) and proceeded to set up traps. Someone came every day, as promised, each day leaving a note in our door of their activity. They succeeded in trapping two ground hogs, two raccoons, and one squirrel. We were very pleased with their service.
