After the painter had my money, he was supposed to drop off a paint sample book the next night. He was also supposed to give us some ideas on what colors he thought would look the best on our house. After several days, and no paint samples, I called Terry. He informed me that he had been busy, and would try to drop it off at the house that night. I wasn't concerned, it was still very cold, and we had a couple of months before the work could be performed anyway. After calling him several times, he finally dropped off a sample book approximately 3 weeks after payment. There was no color indications. When asked about this, he informed me that he would have to come by the house and look at it again to let me know what colors would work best. Again, several calls, and he never performed this portion of the service. As it got warm enough for the repairs to begin, I called and asked when he would be starting to replace the siding (some 4x8 panels were rotting). He told me that he was at another job, but would start it the following week. Late the next week, I again called. Same story, busy now, but will get to it. After several weeks of this, and multiple calls, I called him to inform him that he would not be performing the work and I wanted a refund. He informed me that it would be in my mailbox the next day. 2 weeks later, and still no word from him. I had to call repeatedly, and he finally returned my call. He couldn't remember where I lived (so how was he to perform the work?!?) so couldn't drop my money off. He asked if I could meet him at a local church parking lot, which I agreed to. When I met him there, he gave me a story about how he could only return half of my money at that time, but would return the rest of it as soon as he was paid for another job that he was doing. Again, several weeks and multiple calls later, he informs me that he put the check in my mailbox. This was not true. I informed him of this, and after several more attempts, he dropped a check off. This was only for half of the remaining balance ($600 of $800 so far returned). At this point, he continued to lie to me about returning my money, stopped returning my calls, and when he did answer immediately hung up. I looked into taking him to claims court, but that would have cost more of my $ and time than it was worth. Wagner Enterprises (Terry Wagner) is a scam artist. Do NOT do any business with him. He will not perform the work.
Description of Work: Our house was in need of exterior painting. We had a gentleman leave us an estimate to paint the exterior, and replace any wood as needed. The estimate was for $2400.00 (which was less than other companies). I called the number provided, and the same day a man stopped by to discuss the work. He seemed very professional, stating that he was trying to drum up some business, and that was why the price was so low. He said all of the right things, made me feel comfortable, and I decided to use him to paint the exterior of my house. I informed him that I needed to discuss things with my wife, and would let him know my decision shortly. I called him the next day to let him know that he had the job, and he stated that he needed a deposit to procure the materials to start the job. He made arrangements to come by that evening after I got off of work to get a check from me. That is when it all went wrong.

The day he was supposed to start refinishing the floors he showed up with another man who he was dickering with on how much he would pay to sand the floors. I don't think he knew anything about sanding floors. He paid him $2,000 to do the work which was just sanding, staining and polyeurthaning the floor. When it was ready to be completed, all the painting and carpentry work for the entire baseboard needed to be done, he never showed up. I contacted him and he said he wasn't going to do it. I asked him to return my money and he said he wasn't going to do that. I am definitely taking him to small claims court on 4/16/09. He has no business doing any work, I don't believe he even knew what he was doing. He kept me living in a motel for almost an extra week at $100 a night. It was unconsciousable what he did. I would not hire him again and I would go to great lengths to see that no one else did.
Description of Work: I contacted him to paint the interior of my home. He gave me a price to refinish my floors and baseboards throughout my entire home. This included putting up shoe molding throughout the entire home, painting the baseboard and doing all the transition pieces where floors meet other floors. He took down all the doors and was supposed to replace all the folding closet doors. There was other painting work to be done at this price as well. I gave him a check before the work was completed. He asked me to write a check in the amount of $2,500.00 out to his wife, Alisa and I did on March 20. The first check was written out to Wagner Enterprises in the amount of $1,500.00 on March 10.
