Description of Work: We had Smith & Smith Mason Contractors LLC give an estimate. Ms. Lori Smith is the owner. She gave us a 'seemingly' very good report on what she would be doing for us. We were having our bedford stone chimney rebuilt from below the roof line up to the chimney cap. Her crew did the work and found a concrete block missing from when the chimney was built in 1978. It had been leaking since new, down the stone wall inside the house. The drywall was ruined and stained when we bought the house in '04. We had tried sealing the chimney several times without stopping the leaks. Only slowing them down. We then decided we needed a Professional to do the work. Everything her crew did "seemed" to be fine for about 10 months with no leaking and we thought "finally fixed". Then, March of 2010 it started leaking again. We had a 2 year warranty which included "No leaks guaranteed for 2 years or we will return to fix again". I started trying to reach her in March of 2010 with no return of messages left. Still trying to reach her with no results. She is no longer listed in the phonebook and either doesn't have the same number or just doesn't answer the messages left. I'm assuming she is no longer in business. The copies of her license and bond are invalid now. She left a list of references, which I did call a few of them and got good reports. If anyone knows how to reach her, I would love to find out how. We had T.J.'s Chimney Sweep come out and give us an estimate to repair and Gabe Robinson had a very good idea to take the 10'x3' stone chimney down below the roof line and make a smaller opening with a stainless steel chimney and cap. We have hired them to do the work weather permitting. It's going to cost 3200. for the chimney work and we're also having duct cleaning done when they're finished with everything. So, because I can't find Lori Smith anymore it's costing me a ton of money to have the chimney torn down twice. It shouldn't be that way. Also, when companies say they will travel to your home to do the job even if you live outside of Indianapolis, their Bond and License may not be valid in your county. Check with your county's Building Inspector's Office. You may not have any recourse unless they're registered with your county. Otherwise the only outcome would be to take it to Court if you can even find the Company. Do your homework first and check with Indy's Dept of Code Enforcement to check for License and Bond Info. The BBB does NOT have current info on this Business. I am going to call them and file a complaint. Will follow up when I have new info.

Description of Work: The stone had cracks in it, particularly the chimney. They rebuilt it on the outside. They also repaired various spots on the house that were in need of attention.

Description of Work: Our roof was leaking around the chimney. They came out and explained the problem by taking digital pictures and then comparing what our 40 year old chimney looked like compared to what it should look like...that was very helpful. They tuck pointed the chimney, sealed it, replaced part of the flue and recrowned it.

Description of Work: THEY BUILT A NEW CHIMNEY, REPLACED SOME ROOFING AND DID SOME FLASHING AROUND 2 CHIMNEYS.

Description of Work: REMOVED FIVE CRACKED EXTERIOR BRICKS. RESET AREA WITH NEW BRICKS.
