+ -1 moreHe a noted that another company had installed equipment, but it was there equipment. The people who owned the house previously was a member of Protection 1. The service has been good, but Adam mentioned that the equipment was from another company. We felt like he may have just been trying to push extra equipment on you. He wanted three years, and I told him that we wouldn't be interested in that duration.
Description of Work: The price was for installation, and it's $34 a month after that.

However, she had to "phone a friend" twice during the visit because I stumped her by asking about hardware that other A-rated Angie's list providers offer as a standard feature. She left with an action-item to get back to me with a finalized quote that included the devices she had to ask about, but I've never heard from her again.

There were a couple of technical issues during the install but the individuals installing the system handled them without an issue.

+ -1 moreWe have had the service for nearly a year, and have had a few calls due to a bad motion sensor. They were also very prompt at calling us (within seconds when I forgot the code...). We are very happy with them. They are one of the few alarm companies that doesn't require you to sign a long-term agreement or require automatic withdrawals from your checking account. I appreciate both aspects very much! Highly recommend them!
Description of Work: We moved into a house with an ADT alarm system that was inactive. Protection One gave us a price we liked and had an excellent sales rep who knew her stuff. We had to upgrade our keypad and install a cell tower box since we don't have a land line. All of which cost us about $150. They were able to use everything else that was in the house except for a door sensor, but didn't charge us for that installation.

+ -1 moreI compared services and prices with 8 different companies with "A's" on Angie's List. This company was not only competitive in pricing (although truthfully a little more than one of the competitors), they were professional, not-pushy, and knowledgeable. The salesperson, Gray, was engaging, experienced and quite refreshing compared to the typical pushy sales approach I had encounter with other companies. Installation was schedule for two days after signing the contract and it went smoothly. The person they sent out was a subcontractor which I had reservations about, but he was very skilled and conscientious in delivering quality during the installation.

+ -1 moreIt was a great experience. Their salesman - Gray - was very knowledgeable about their products, was very professional, and very fair. He was in no way pushy or pressure oriented. The installation went very well also. They had two guys show up - Joe and Jeff - and they were done in a few hours. The quality of their work was exceptional, and they did a very thorough job of explaining the system to us.
Description of Work: They put a brand new alarm system in our existing house including door monitors, window monitors, motion detectors, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, and sump pit alarm.

+ -1 moreThe estimate changed more than once, and that sort of set our guard off. Then he finally came up with the same figure that he had the first time. So we didn't sign anything until all the components were down in writing at which point we felt better about working with them. The installation was pain free and completed the project in one day. I am happy with how everything turned out. We set the alarm off a couple times accidentally and received a phone call immediately, so we feel comfortable with the service.
Description of Work: The price includes a full year of security service. We had the security and motion detectors installed along with smoke detector.

+ -1 moreVery good. We had gotten price quotes from several alarm companies. The monthly alarm monitoring costs are $35. Protection One's installation costs and monitoring fees are not the least expensive and not at the too pend... pretty much in the middle. They do have a better customer service reputation and out of all the firms we met with, we liked their product offerings best. The installation work was professional. Both sales and the installation team were punctual.
Description of Work: Installed a new alarm system, replacing an existing system from another provider. Upgraded door contact alarms, installed motion detectors and glass break sensors.

My system is working great; I got exactly what I wanted, with very little money and effort. The level of service was so good, I almost didn't believe it! My experience with this company makes me believe again that a high level of service can still occur in a world which doesn't seem to care about customer service anymore.
Description of Work: After only one phone call, Protection One scheduled someone to come to my house for an estimate on a home security alarm system. The representative arrived on time and spent over an hour discussing my lifestyle, my security concerns, and my budget. He determined a plan which would work for me and I signed up that evening, without any pressure to do so. I received a call the next day to schedule the installation and was offered an installation date within a few days (it was actually MY schedule which prevented installation until a week or so later!). The installer arrived as scheduled and was extremely professional and neat. He installed two key pads, a glass break detector, and two wireless window contacts within about six hours. He made sure none of the wiring was visible and consulted me when deciding where to place the key pads. The installer took all the time I needed to explain the system to me and left for me a User's Guide on CD and several window stickers.

+ -1 moreI could not be more pleased with my system & the installation process. My installation was a fairly easy one & it took 10 hours. The installer, Joe, did an amazing job & made everything look phenomenal. You wouldn't even know he had installed an alarm system, everything is that neat & tidy. Joe only stopped for lunch because we made him do so, otherwise he would have kept working all day. He was friendly, professional, & very talented at his job. I can't say enough good things about him. The alarm salesman, Gray, was also great to work with. He was very straightforward with me, & told me what I did & did not need. When I asked him about some equipment that I had heard of, he said that while I could buy it, it wouldn't be worth the expense. I felt like he honestly wanted me to get the best deal for my money & wasn't interested in selling me what I didn't need, & I appreciate that tremendously. Protection One gets high marks all around.
Description of Work: I had an alarm system installed in my house. The $900 was for 4 doors, 1 motion alarm, 1 smoke alarm, 2 keypads, & a cellular back-up, plus the first 3 months of monitoring service. The two keypads that I got were high-end touchpads, so they were more expensive. I also had to have a cellular backup device installed since I don't have a home phone with which to hook up the system for monitoring. If you had taken out that cellular device & the upgraded keypads that I chose, the system would have only been around $500. I am very happy with all of the equipment choices that I made & I also like that with the cellular monitoring, I know that no one can cut my phone lines to disable the alarm system. I had also researched other alarm companies & wasn't impressed with what they had to offer.
