Last winter, we used Fairfield Heating and Cooling (now Peterman Brothers) to repair/replace a faulty furnace blower, which they did fully replace in March 2023. However, the blower might have been the wrong size for the furnace and the screws would not stay attached to the cage, regardless of how many times we tightened them. The night before Thanksgiving, the blower broke again. We wanted them to replace the blower correctly, but Peterman Brothers had “lost paperwork, including our warranty, during the acquisition of Fairfield Heating and Cooling.” That night, their technician “fixed” the blower, remounting the blower with new screws, but left without fully testing the furnace. It needed a hard reset, which he did not perform, leaving us (and becoming unreachable) on one of the coldest days of the winter without heat, until we figured out how to reset the system ourselves. Several weeks later, as temperatures dipped, the blower failed again and could not be repaired. We still could get no answer from Peterman Brothers about the blower warranty or to schedule a replacement. Finally, a week later, as temperatures became dangerous, they brought a new blower and installed it, agreeing to replace the parts for free but to charge us $1200 for an hour of work. We had no choice but to accept. While they were replacing it, they told us our heat exchanger had been cracked and we should not run our furnace that night because we were in danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. Temperatures were in the teens, and it was already nightfall. We had no option but to run the furnace all night. They sent us an estimate for a new heat exchanger the next day at the price of $6,432.53 but agreed to credit our $1200 fees toward future work. We believe that either the cracked heat exchanger was used to pressure us into more overpriced repairs, thereby recouping their losses, or they have been inept, ignoring a dangerous crack and not testing our system in any of the four times they worked on the furnace over the previous two months. Regardless, this company has failed to provide sound, safe, and client-forward service and should not continue operating.

I have liked this company for the last couple of years, but, anymore you better prepare yourself for a used car lot to roll up when they pull in. They want to sell you anything they can! $6000 seems to be the cost du jour.
Description of Work: HVAC related, but also goes for plumbing.

Back in 2020 I paid Peterman Brother's approximately 14,500 dollars to install a new heating and AC system in my house. I negotiated a 10 year warranty on the system. Until today, the coldest day of 12/23/2022 with -9 degrees, Peterman has been good. I woke up in the house and felt it was rather cold, and checked the temperature inside the house. It was 56 degrees. I checked to ensure that the heat was on and set at 70, and it was. I called Peterman and they told me that they could have someone out on 12/29/2022...yes, almost a full week later, they could have someone out to the house to fix their 2-year old furnace that has a 10-year warranty on the coldest day of the year at -9 degrees without wind chill. That is the vaunted 'customer service' of Peterman and their treatment of customers who paid them 15,000 dollars. I have had updated maintenance of the AC/furnace every 6 months and the last check was on 10/27/2022 when the technician told me that everything was working great. I wish that I would have went with a different company now, paid half of what I paid Peterman and actually had good service when it matters. I know that they were probably busy from the extreme cold, but as a customer for several years that paid a lot of money for a brand new system with a 10-year warranty, I expected better treatment. Don't use this company. I am filing formal complaints with them with different agencies to try to make sure they don't do this to other people like my family that has a 2 year old and a 7 year old in the house freezing and shivering while we scramble to get them warm.
Description of Work: Installed brand new AC and furnace.

I'm disabled. Saw add for fix or free. Worker sold me additional something and monthly charge for something else. Gave my card/paid. Was tired. Signed many signatures. Then they went to work. Workers eventually called supervisor to help. Later, worker with a smile told me several times it was fixed. Checked later that day. Still slow drain, water in tub. Used stuff they sold me for five days. Still slow drain. Workers seemed nice.

Peterman should be liable for unethical business practices.; Peterman should be responsible for repair/replacement of furnace and AC unit. ; Peterman should refund the cost of my service agreement as the service was not completed though the system check document states that it was.
