N & S Tree Service

Beware of this company….. Our community decided to use this company; N&S tree service, to do some tree work. The HOA board, along with the Property Management firm (Crestwood Property Mgmt/ Susan Nichols /his sister), paid to this vendor $8,500. Per the invoice, that we later found out in court that Crestwood Property Mgmt had generated and paid, incompleted work was the reason for this action. The newly elected HOA board (community recalled the previous HOA board & did not renew Crestwood Property Mgmt contract) was forced to take N&S Tree Service to court in order to resolve unfinished and shoddy workmanship. We received a favorable judgement of $1,500.00 from the court to have the work corrected and completed. Crestwood Property Mgmt/Susan Nichols / his sister was admonished by the judge for a major conflict of interest in this ordeal. N&S Tree Service / George Whirley was given many opportunities to meet and correct this situation but chose not to do so. Glennwoods Community Homeowner

I attempted to hire this tree service. However, I had trouble getting a call back or response after an initial estimate was given. Once my calls were returned I was told they had been busy due to weather rescheduling and would get a call back whenever they determined they could fit me in. Hmmmm. Okay, more time passes, no return call. Red flag. So, I call again, and leave another voicemail stating we need to schedule service. No return call--again. So, I might have hired this service, had they responded in a more timely manner. I made the assumption N & S did not have enough employees to handle the incoming business and decided to go with another company, perhaps with more staff , whose estimate matched almost exactly, and has no issues with responding.

Trees were behind neighbor's house but removal arranged by adjacent neighborhood's association. Equipment and branches blocked our driveway all afternoon. Mulched trees in front of our house and left huge mess of leaves, wood chips, and paper cups in front yard and street. This was nothing compared to mess in next-door neighbor's yard. Piles of leaves in yard and on top of pool; bags of sawdust or wood chips; bottles and or paper cups throughout work area. Multiple calls to company were not returned and had to clean mess ourselves.

They were very polite, did a great job.

George kept promising to do the work and honor the Groupon but never did. I gave him the benefit of the doubt because he said he was a Christian man, but I think that was just a front. More like a crook.

These guys did an amazing job, quickly, and at a great price. Quality of work and professionalism was outstanding, too. Despite the heavy machinery (bucket trucks, bobcats, etc) my yard shows absolutely zero signs of damage, track marks, etc. These trees were in a dangerous spot (near my home and power lines) and they were removed perfectly. They even ran into a huge underground hornet's nest (i had no idea was there) and they immediately alerted me of the hornet's presence and location so i could have them exterminated.

No details they never kept an appointment.

As other reviewers have indicated, N and S offered a Groupon special, but are very poor in following through. I have probably called this outfit 20-30 times (conservatively). When you are lucky enough to talk to a person, they apologize and make promises (which they have never kept). I am honestly not sure if they are in business anymore, as their website and phones are no longer functioning.

I purchased a Groupon for tree trimming in July. I never received a call to schedule service so I started calling them. I was told repeatedly that they were just really busy and I would receive a call back. Every time I called they apologized and the guy would tell me he had a stroke. I told him I understood but I needed the trees done by the end of September because I was going to put the house on the market. He said that was no problem. August came and went. At the beginning of September, I called again and was given the same story and told someone would call me back. No one called me back. The same thing happened in October. I finally contacted Groupon and got my money back because I couldn't wait any longer.

I have been trying to use them since the summer since I bought a Groupon deal from them and keeps on promising dates and have not heard from them. I have called several times and they have not followed through with there service or responded to me. The people seem nice on voicemail. They sound like a Christian group but there actions are making me question that.

TERRIBLE. Will never call on N and S Tree Service again. We had used George Whirley in the past for firewood so I called him first. He called my husband back and agreed to come the next day to deliver a rick of firewood for $55. Well, the next day arrived but George never did. We tried to call him several times but he never returned our phone calls. Apparently he is not interested in our business. Based on other reviews on here, other people have had similar experiences.

I purchased a groupon for tree trimming from this company and it has been a terrible experience. I purchased the groupon in August and the work still has not been done as of the beginning of December. I tried for months to contact them but the few times I was able to get ahold of anyone I was told that they were too busy and would call me back. I finally got them to come out to the house in November to see the work that needed to be done. They guy was there around 5 minutes. He said he would come back sometime in the next couple of weeks to do the work. He refused to give an exact time or date, just said that some day I would come home and the work would be done. Well, I'm still waiting. This has been a very bad experience and I will not work with this company again.

I contacted them using a and quot;grouponand quot; coupon. After I described the job we set a time and date and estimated price. They called 30 minutes before they arrived and were right on time. They had the saws, trucks and shredding machine. After I showed them the details of the area to clear they started right to work. They cut the trees, removed the shrubs, cleared out the overgrown weeds and shredded them. They took care to avoid harming some 90 year old grape vines that were entangled in the weeds/trees. After cutting the larger trees they cut the small trees and awfull mulberry trees/shrubs. They removed all the branches/debries and ran it through their shredder. They then left me their load of wood chips/shredded compost for me to use to cover the areas cleared of wild growth. Bottom line, they did what I needed done, on time, at the estimated and quite fair price. If I need that kind of thing done again, I know who to call.

.When they come to do the work theres no foolin around. They are very effecient and fast. and they leave the trees looking really nice and they clean up after themselves. I would definately use them in the furture.

I had called them to do the work in November but immediately the winter started and they had to come out in March and they didn't charge me anything because they had delayed so long and that was pretty good of them. They were unique. I would rate them high overall and would use them again in the future. I also recommended them to my neighbor.

They arrived as scheduled and worked straight through from 9am to around 4:30pm. The tree was approximately 30 feet higher than our house and they took it down from the top piece by piece. It was a huge tree and a huge job. Power lines had to be disconnected because they ran through the tree branches and that was the only inconvenience. The crew was polite and not a slacker in the bunch. They chipped out the stump and cleaned up all the branches and logs. We have use them in the past with no complaints and no complaints with this time.

To be brief, I found a better rate than what this company suggested but I appreciate them coming out.

George's estimate was about $2,000 less than others. The crew knew what they were doing, and they were busy (with a few breaks because of the heat) until they finished. The tree in question was in our back yard, with no easy way to get it out from the street. George laid down plywood over my neighbor's lawn to minimize the damage done to the lawn. The trunk of the Maple that was still standing was very large in diameter, and had to be felled in just the right spot to avoid taking out other trees. He felled it right where it needed to fall. It was a big job and they were in and out in about 7 hours. They cleaned up debris and even most of the leaves, since they had turned brown and were dried up. Damage to the back lawn from the bobcat running to and fro (that is how they got most of the tree from the back to the front) was to be expected and not that bad--I can spend an afternoon of spreading top soil and seeding and soon no one will be the wiser that a 100 year old tree used to be there. I will definitely use him again if needed.

Over the last 10 years they have been to our hour 3 times cutting trees hanging over our house as well as in our yard. They are hardworking, efficient, courteous and safety minded. We would highly recommend them to anyone.

Everything went very well. They did what they said they were going to do and they did it very nicely. The price was well worth it for what they did.

It did not go well. They left the stumps in my yard, and they left my gate open which allowed my dog to escape.

I was very satisfied with the work. Exceptional service.

Work was performed the following day when we were gone to work. When I returned I was amazed that they had only trimmed a "FEW" lower limbs on the trees. I had requested that the lower and HIGHER limbs be trimmed out of my neighbors yard which was not done. My wife not being involved paid Nand S as they requested, however when I returned home I was VERY disappointed in their work. I could had easily trimmed the few lower limbs that they had done and saved $175. I called George Whirley on a couple of occasions, however, I never received a return call.

His price was good and his work was satisfactory.

We had used N and S in the past, but not last year as he never returned our calls. I decided to give him one last try this year. George delivered our wood the next day and on time. The quality of wood was excellent and the pieces were quite large. My husband was able to chop most of them down into smaller pieces to give us even more wood. Nice quality hardwoods like oak, poplar and maple. Their price is approximately $20-25 less than everyone else. We intend to use him again in the future.
