I filed a home warranty claim with HMS and Ameri-Plumb was the assigned contractor. I left a message for Jon, the owner, on a Sunday evening because, although it wasn't exactly an emergency situation, we wanted the leaky garbage disposal to be fixed as soon as possible. I followed up the next morning with an email to Jon and then around mid-day called him again. This time I spoke with him directly and he indicated that he had already called me back, which he hadn't. He said he would be out the next morning at 7. Immediately after our call I texted him a confirmation of our appointment time and my address. The next morning. he did not arrive on time but contacted me to say he would be 30-40 minutes late. He was more than an hour late. When I answered the door he said hello, but really nothing else. I showed him the leaking garbage disposal and he mumbled something about it probably needing to be replaced. He basically did not speak to either myself or my husband the entire time he was at our house. He did get right to work and quickly switched out the old garbage disposal for a new one. When he appeared to be done with his work, my husband paid him our home warranty deductible. He made some mention of how he had created quite a mess, which was obvious, but he made absolutely no effort to clean up the large mess all over my kitchen floor and under my sink. He had been using one of my buckets, which had been sitting under the sink to collect water, and he left it full of dirt and grime under the sink. So far there have been no problems with his work (only time will tell), but based responsiveness and lack of professionalism I would not recommend Ameri-Plumb.

They promised to come in at 9 am the next morning which was today. They were just four minutes late, whic h is very much acceptable considering the roads were slick (we are talking about two inches of snow). The plumber also owns the business. He bought a son who is approiximately ten to twelve years old, whom I assume is learning the trade and eventually take over the business about 15 years from now, I think. The son was very professional and I hope, does exactly what his father does. The father found out there needed to be a new valve installed (covered by the warranty, thank God!). he did it the same day completed the job in less than an hour, allowed me to check the work by flushing the toliet and explained what happened. The company does have a web page which is www.ameri-plub.com. They do accept cash and credit cards.
Description of Work: Toliet was not flushing properly. If you flushed it, it would flush almost forever. You had to pull the ball up to a certain extent to get it to stop flushing. I pulled it too far up and water was going everywhere and I had to call in my home warranty to get it fixed. It took the home warranty company a while (about two hours to be exact) but I was able to buy time by putting a toliet brush to keep the ball and wire way up to temporary stop the flushing until the plumber showed up the next day....which turned out to be this provider. For once, GMAC Mortgage/Total Protect sent out someone who did his job and I am grateful. So they replaced the valve in the toliet tank as discussed in the next question Angies List has for me........

It went as well as I could have expected under the circumstances. Water heater broke late one evening, water was on basement floor. Contacted the home warranty company who suggested I call Ameri-Plumb. They came asap and agreed to work with the home warranty company to get the work ok'd the next day; which they delivered on. They completed the work in a mannerly fashion and did everything I asked in replacing a good water heater with all the safety features that had been on the original. They were professional in every way and I would certainly consider using their services again. When you often hear of people being taken advantage of by home warranty companies and/or the plumbing companies it was such a great feeling to know we had been serviced by professionals who were actually trying to help us out as soon(and as efficiently) as possible and without over-pricing.
Description of Work: replaced water heater, removed old water heater, cleaned area, replaced all accessory equipment that was attached to original.

No complications, no surprises and no additional charges. Everything went great.
Description of Work: In the last month I have had Jon perform three separate plumbing jobs: he replaced my bathtub drain, he unclogged my home's main sewer line, and then he ultimately replaced the main sewer line. The price quoted in this report is for the sewer line replacement. On all three occasions Jon performed as a true professional. His quotes were accurate and all charges were explained. What I really appreciated was that instead of pushing for the most expensive option, that being the complete replacement of the sewer line, he also suggested less costly alternatives. I will continue to use Ameri-Plumb LLC for all of my plumbing needs.

Just before midnite on Christmas eve, we noticed a strong smell coming from the mechanical room of our basement. We have a 1/2-bath that backs up to that room, and the wastewater from that room goes into an above-the-ground holding tank with a sewage pump inside that lifts it up to the sewer line. When we got into the room, there was a trail of water coming from the bottom of the tank across the concrete floor. We contained it with towels, and wiped some of it up. We just purchased the home within the last 3 months and knew someday we'd want to improve that installation, but it was working fine up until that moment. We received a home warranty thru HMS when we bought the house, and actually found a human working the phones at that hour. They put out (we assume) several calls to and we received a call from Jon @ Ameri-Plumb right at noon on Christmas day. He inquired as to the situation and said he'd be out the next day at 9AM - which was fine since the water had started to dry up and the odor had significantly dissipated. Jon arrived right on time, and was cordial and professional on arrival. He immediately set out to try to replicate the problem so he could diagnose where the water was coming from. Since we weren't able to get the water to come out of the tank again, he concluded that the pump had backed up on something that was in the tank, that eventually worked its way through - which made sense, since it was functioning completely normal at that point. He immediately noted that he is "not fond" of the system that's installed based on the fact that it limits how much of a back-up you can experience before the water/smell enters the living/working space. Based on that impression we discussed several options on how he would approach addressing the situation both in the near-term (i.e. break/fix) and the long term, given that we do plan on re-doing that bathroom and adding a shower - remember, this is in our finished basement. Jon was reluctant to be critical of any plumbers that may have done work prior, but was straight-forward about the problems he observed and was able to explain clearly why something was wrong and how he would go about correcting it, all the while, listening and integrating in our needs and observations. The nominal fee he charged us for making the diagnosis of the original problem was, in our opinion, very fair... especially considering it was a Saturday, AND the day after Christmas.
Description of Work: Jon came and diagnosed a potential problem with our sewage pump system. While he was here, he was able to give us some overall impressions of the system that came with our home, and also give us a quote/estimate for the installation of a new vent and to correct improper existing plumbing for a water softener.
