Jerry came out the same day that I called him despite being busy. He completed the job as promised the very next day. We are very happy with the quality of his work and his responsiveness to the initial call.

The problem was with the brick on my house that was above the crawl space entrance . Several cracks had appeared in the masonry joints (between the bricks) that were below a window above the crawl space entrance. The problem was caused by the metal angle iron support (spanning the top of the crawl space) had rusted and become weak over time. The house was built in 1979. I had hired another mason to do the repair, and he had done a shoddy job. He had used a tan mortar (where mortar on my house is the usual white) and instead of removing the cracked mortar and replacing it, he had just smeared some of the tan mortar over the top of the cracks. The whole thing looked stupid on a house that has beautiful brick done by a master. Instead of trying to get that mason to redo his crummy job, I decided to call Jerry Allen to look at the job. He came out the day after I called and he was dumbfounded by the lousy job that had been done. He pointed out the problems and gave me a price to redo the job and I agreed. He came out 3 days after the quote, and he repaired all of the problems and installed another (stronger) stainless steel angle iron (that I has purchased prior to my contacting him). He used the right mortar, and he took out all of the defective mortar and the off-color mortar that had been used on the previous bad job. He came out the following day and did the final cleaning of the repaired surface. It looks PERFECT. Wonderful job by a pro. I would most certainly hire him again.

I read good reviews on this company from Angies List and I know why. Very good service. House is late 60's and the Chimney had alot of spalling, morter missing, and the cetent cap was cracked. They found good matching brick to use in the rebuild. They took off the old brick and morter from the flashing on up. I was skeptical about not taking all the brick off, but the brick under the flashing was probably good and of course the flashing was protecting it. I'll know if this was a good practice in time. Price was very competitive and they cleaned up nicely. There were 2 of them and it was done in 1 day.

Jerry Allen is a talented masonry craftsman and provided excellent customer service. He was a pleasure to deal with. Jerry was very prompt in returning my initial web-based inquiry. Before the project began Jerry told me that he would keep me informed of the project status throughout the life of the project and he did exactly that. He was very accessible and answered my email queries promptly. He told me that he would be the one laying every brick. This was important to me. And he indeed layed every brick. His assistant, his son-in-law, was very courteous and hard-working. The tear-down of the chimney went well and quick. Jerry was careful to protect the house and informed me of a few structural issues he discovered (unrelated to the project) that I should be aware of. Jerry also told me that when the job was finished his clean up would be to the extent that I wouldn?t even know he had been there, and this proved to be the case. He did an excellent job sourcing the replacement brick. The new chimneys look great. I'm very pleased with the outcome and how the project was handled by Jerry. I highly recommend you consider Jerry Allen for your masonry projects.

Jerry and his crew were great! I had quotes done by 7 companies to bid the job knowing it was going to be a costly fix and wanting to be very confident in hiring the right person. I am confident that the correct choice was made. Jerry was NOT the cheapest, however I do not believe that the lower quotes I had gotten took into account the great attention to DETAIL that Jerry is concious of, also the large scope of the project and the great deal of reconstructive work necessary to finish the task. Jerry was the only person I was confident saw the scope of the project exactly as I did and he was also the only person I believed did not want to gauge me on a price or take advantage of me or my home. We had hoped to finish much sooner, however the weather got in the way (as Indiana weather in April often can) and Jerry was mindful of this and even came to work on Saturday and Sunday to still complete the job in a timely manner. We are so satisfied and happy with the outcome of our new brick work. Our 98 year old home has gotten a great facelift and we thank you, and our neighbors thank you for your good quality work. called and he said he'd come out and give me a quote. never heard a peep so i called again and again he said he'd come out and give me an estimate- never heard another peep from him. Very disappointed.

This project was our first experience with Angie's List so we were a little hesitant but it went very well. Jerry replied to our quote request the same day. Jerry was punctual and arrived at the time we had decided to meet at our home to inspect and discuss job. He answered all of our questions and described exactly what he and his crew would do to fix our chimney. Work was performed while we were at work and Jerry called to let us know when they were finished. When I arrived home, my first reaction was "WOW!" ...I could not believe our chimney could look so nice. I was also impressed how well they cleaned up the work site. We are looking forward to using Angie's List for future projects and will call on and recomend Jerry for any future brick work.

A TRUE CRAFTSMAN! The amazing thing about this job is that one cannot tell which bricks were replaced! Jerry was able to use some bricks I found when I bought the house six years ago and the placement, mortar and brick colors are perfect. Jerry and his son are friendly, patient and very professional. They cleaned up all the debris and the jobsite looks pristine. Highly recommend!

After comparing several masonry companies, we hired Jerry Allen due to his professionalism and knowledge. He was very responsive to all communications, provided a detailed quote, and was honest with us about a scheduling conflict that could arise on his part. Jerry did an excellent job with everything that he agreed to do. What was really impressive was how he handled the things he hadn't agreed to do. During construction of the new chimney, Jerry found a significant problem that required additional time and materials. He explained the problem to us, apologized for the additional time required to finish the job, and made the necessary corrections without raising his price. In addition, he designed some decorative brickwork to make the chimney more attractive than it had been before. When it came to the tuck pointing, Jerry again exceeded our expectations. He not only repaired the bad tuck pointing that had been done by a previous owner, he fixed the cement in our back step and replaced several bad bricks. Jerry's assistant, Nick, was polite and hard working. During the project, Nick and Jerry answered all of our questions clearly and completely. It was obvious that they had a thorough understanding of masonry and that gave us a lot of confidence that that job was being done right. Jerry's price was fair and his craftsmanship was excellent. Best of all, he gave us a great guarantee to stand behind his work. I would not hesitate to hire Jerry Allen again.
