He also kept his promises on the timeline and performed the installation the same day when the newly ordered windows were delivered. Mike and his crew helped disposing all the trash and helped making the new windows clean.
Description of Work: 14 windows needed to be replaced with Pella Architect Series windows. Disposal of existing windows and installation of new windows are needed.

+ -1 moreFirst of all they made a mistake on the order, I had requested that the windows have the panes between the glasses so it would be easy to wash. When the windows came, it wasn't the case, they were removable panes so he had to reorder to replace the ones that had been incorrectly ordered. There was a delay of about six weeks. Finally, they were okay but it was a long ordeal. He thought it was his mistake and he took the cost.
Description of Work: Homestyle Construction put in my new windows. They replaced six windows in my house.

We chatted and he offered to come by the evening of May 5th to look at the job and said he would give me a call when he was finished with his project for the day and was headed my way. He never called and never showed up. I called him again on May 6th, got his voicemail and left him a message indicating that maybe I misunderstood, but that I thought we had had an appointment scheduled for the night before. He again never responded to my message. If he does not want to perform the work, that is fine, however, it is very unprofessional to not keep a scheduled appointment and not to return my call.
Description of Work: i contacted the provider about installing an island in my kitchen. His name had been given to me by Cabinets To Go and it was an added bonus that he was an Angie's List member and had gotten good reviews.

Mike communicated with me regarding a start date for the project and the number of days that it would take to complete. The work was completed on time and it looks wonderful. You would never know that there had been a major leak in the ceiling because it is so well done. Two things really stood out. Mike Bush is extremely professional, courteous, and respectful. And there was never a bit of dirt or debris in my kitchen at any time. He kept everything clean and neat each day. I will definitely have Homestyle Construction back to do additional projects on my home. Mike had great suggestions about my future projects.
Description of Work: Repaired a leak from the shower in the bathroom above my kitchen and repaired the ceiling where the leak had created a hole.

+ -1 moreI chose them because they had a good record of all A's. I would think twice about using them in the future. I just spoke with the agent representing the company. Secondly, he stayed too long and was too chatty for my liking. They are a construction company so they do more than windows.

+ 0 moreIt went ok. I was hoping to just restore, but the tiles couldn't be saved, and actually some were even broken while taken them out-it seemed that caution was not taken by taking them out. I don't know anything about tile, but he said he could save them; I think he should let the client know up front that there may be a chance that they can't be saved. They assumed that some things were garbage without asking. I didn't like that a two day job wrapped into a third day (the 2.5 hour lunch on the second day could have been shorter and then they wouldn't have to come back for an hour on the third day). I shouldn't have to sand the last drywall plastering before painting. (I opted to paint myself, but the wall repair was part of the job). They did prep work on the front sidewalk, which should not have been done. (The brick sidewalk was already loose, and they just loosened it more by doing that). Some of my flowers were trampling when they put the lamp in. This is probably an excellent company to choose if you want remodeling done because they do have attention to detail, but if you want repair work done (like I did), I wouldn't recommend.
Description of Work: Originally the work was going to be to repair tile on shower wall, yet the tiles couldn't be saved as hoped. Nobody sold the same color of tiles since it's an old home (1941). I opted to buy a shower wall surround and have that put in. I was hoping that the price would be adjusted to reflect the actual work, (but it wasn't) since it shouldn't have been as labor intensive as it would have been to clean all of the tiles and put them back/grout. I had the old toilet taken out, floor repaired and new toilet put in. Had an outdoor lamp replaced as well.

Description of Work: I previously contacted Homestyle Construction when our sump pump went out. Mike sent over his plumber who promptly replaced the pump that same day. This year I had to contact them again regarding a possible water leak after receiving a huge water bill. Mike promptly came out to our home to inspect the surrounding area, he checked the meter, our toilets, crawl space, and all surrounding areas for pooling of water. Fortunately, it turned out to be a leak in the toilet, and he told us how to fix it. He was very thorough, kind and detailed. We would definitely call Homestyle in the future for anything needed.

+ 3 moreThis was supposed to initially be a kitchen remodel. We obtained four estimates from four different companies, and Mike Bush and Homestyle weren't the cheapest, but also not the highest. We decided to go with them, because when Mike came out to talk to us, he had many ideas about what he could do, and we really liked his ideas. He was proposing to do more than the others, for not alot more money. He was very professional and thorough. His initial estimate for the kitchen remodel was accurate, and only changed if we decided to upgrade, as we did in getting granite instead of laminate countertops, and custom built all wood kitchen cabinets, instead of stock models from the big box store. Our remodel took three months, but that was because we kept adding new things that we wanted done. Mike has a small company, with two other employees. He sub contracts the plumbing and electrical work. We really liked his electrician, but not so much his plumber, although the work they did was good, but we felt like his plumber charged too much. Mike's company has a lot of work, and for a major remodel like we had, it is going to take some time because he has other jobs going on. My only recommendation would be to make sure that if they are gutting a room, hang plastic sheeting to cordon off the room from the rest of the house, to minimize the dust..Overall, a good experience. I would put their finished product up against any of the major remodelers, just beautiful work , or "sweet" as Mike would say. One last thing. We had our bathroom remodeled 10 years ago by one of the major southside bathroom remodelers, and they did minimal work, and charged us thousands more than Mike did. We felt like we were ripped off by them. Mike completely gutted our bathroom and did much more than the other company for less money.
Description of Work: We initially hired Homestyle to do a kitchen remodel. It eventually morphed into a whole house remodel. Our house was built in 1964, and pretty much everything in it was the original. Kitchen was completely gutted, and every thing replaced..New drywall, custom all wood kitchen cabinets(built by Kitchen Jewels), porcelain tile floor, and backsplash, and granite countertops. Kitchen table replaced by island with stools for eating at. New lighting and electrical work. Next, we had them replace carpeting in family room, living room, and hallway with hardwood flooring which we picked out. Beautifully installed, and really added a totally new look to the house. They painted all walls and trim in a color that we selected. We then had them install crown moulding, and all new wood trim around doors and windows, which they stained to match kitchen cabinets, and wall color. Crown moulding was installed throughout the house. Next, we had them replace all cheap hollow interior doors with solid six panel doors, which were stained to match the trim. Replaced both front, and back entry doors, and front storm door with new Pella doors, and they were painted or stained to match interior. In the kitchen, there was an old sliding aluminum door that lead out to the screen porch. This was replaced with a beautiful new Pella picture window. It really added a stunning look to the beautifully remodeled kitchen. Finally , Mike and his crew gutted our bathroom, and did a complete remodel. We wanted our tub removed, and a walk in shower installed, and they did this, installing new porcelain tile all the way up to the ceiling in the shower, half way up on the walls, then on the floor. Also, all new fixtures. As with all major remodels, things come up, or need to be tweeked, but Mike and crew always were responsive, and willing to come back to make sure we were satisfied.

+ -1 moreGreat. Mike came out on a Monday and went over the plans for the project and let us pick out the all of the hardware and paint. His crew came the next day to tear out and start the painting. On Wednesday, Mike's tile contractor put in the ceramic tile (very nice). Thursday, Mike's crew came back for install, painting, and put everything back. The plumber was also there. A four day project that turned out very nicely. Thanks Mike.
Description of Work: Homestyle came out and advised on remodeling half bath and laudry room area. Price seemed very fair.

+ -1 moreOther bids we received were substantially higher. Mike was extremely efficient and got the job done correctly and on time. Mike came out and power washed & scraped the siding the first day and within the next few days the job was completed. Mike kept us informed on the progress each step of the way. One suggestion I would give anyone having a paint job done is to grab duplicate paint strips when picking out the colors. Keep one set and give the other set to the painter.
Description of Work: In May 2007, we hired Mike and his crew to paint our 1500 sq. ft., single story home. We had picked out the colors (from strips at Home Depot) and wanted a 2 tone paint job. The doors and the trim around the windows did not need to be painted. The previous paint job by the previous owners had been done rather sloppily which got paint on the brick on the side of the garage. (A neighbor commented that Mike had done a poor job because of the paint on the bricks, but I corrected him, as it was the old paint from the prior owners). The siding of the house is wood, so it will need to be painted every several years. We had the work performed in June 2007 on Mike's schedule as we had no specific need for a certain time table.
