Eric showed up the week prior and prepared the area to keep it from freezing. The equipment was coordinated and the work began. The excavating, cutting, well installation everything went extremely well. I would definitely recommend Eric for any sort of concrete needs. He is punctual, professional, and communicates well with his clients. Should we need concrete work in the future, I will call EKJ before looking anywhere else.

It was a nightmare. Erik's crew was slow. They spent equal time working and smoking. On the second day, I came home to find that they had been very sloppy in the removal of the grass in the area to be graded. They tore up sections beyond the proper area and their solution was to lay grass seed or sod in the damaged areas once they were done. This was trivial compared to the egregious incompetence shown in the rest of their work. For all of the pads they poured, they didn't prepare a subbase. They also poured a patio right against the house and flush with wood siding without adding an expansion joint compound which means the concrete will likely damage the siding eventually. They set posts for two swing structures in two pads they poured but set them cockeyed. The worst, however, came when they poured a patio area composed of about 15 small rectangular pads. They poured the pads on a day with a strong chance of rain. To "protect" the pads, they laid plastic over them. What this did was ruin the smooth finish of these pads. From the beginning, we stressed how important it was that these particular pads have a smooth finish. Not only did they not do that properly but they also did not grade that area correctly or keep the pads in line, Our back patio was wrong from the top with the ruined finish, chipped edges, skewed pads down to the uneven ground and lack of a subbase. When we saw the progress of their work, we knew we needed to put a stop to it. We told them not to come back and they were fired. Given the amount of work that still needed done and the probable issues with the poor work that was completed, we did not pay anything beyond the initial 50% upfront. EKJ did accepted this and did not pursue any additional payment.
Description of Work: Erik was hired to pour several concrete pads, remove brick paver path, and grade a part of the yard.
