He was by far the most reasonable quote we had received & very nice and knowledgeable. It was apparent that he knows his trade. When we are ready to do the project we will be calling him.

Our experience was great. Ralph Ford is a man of great integrity; all work was done in a timely and professional manner. We will definitely be using Deckmasters again!

Can't say enough good things about this company and it's workers. Professional, prompt, precise attention to detail. Courteous and friendly workers. Will never look elsewhere for any other deck or outdoor construction project. Mr. Ford and his crew are certainly one class act. Everyone is amazed at the beauty and precision of their work!!!!!

They were wonderful. They really worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. They truly are a good custom built deck builders. They pretty much built whatever I wanted. Their price was a little bit on the higher end.

Deckmasters is an absolute wonderful company. Self employed, had a couple of sons working for him, very courteous, professional and did an excellent work. It’s a magnificent work. He was very courteous from the word go, very upfront with his cost and very timely on the job. His workers out here were very courteous, very respectful of my property, picked up after themselves everyday and did stellar work. I was extremely pleased with everything that took place with them. They’re price is excellent because I did quotes with five other companies and they were 300 to 3500 lower. I would recommend them to anybody.

Scheduled home visit via msg's on Angie's List...was very quick to respond & scheduled visit within the week. Was punctual for home visit, however, when explaining our needs, ideas & budgets.....well, let's just say there were not a lot of yeses coming from Deckmasters!! After visit, Deckmasters said they would submit quote w/ plans within the following week.....we have yet to receive any quote, nor have we gotten a phone call to explain delay!

They did a very good job. They did it this winter so they were struggling with the weather, but they did a very good job. We were very happy with them. They are very nice people. Their price was very reasonable compared to other quotes that we had gotten.

They were responsive and seemed to know what they were doing. They answered all my questions. I will probably use them in the future.

Wonderful construction experience--Ralph and his team are polite, prompt and detailed. Ralph used a picture of a deck that we had found on the Internet and was able to create the same deck with proportions to fit our space. We are extremely pleased with the results!

I supplied a "B" overall because from my search, I thought Ralph supplied the services I was looking for. Only upon talking to him did I realize he didn't.

Ralph re-planked my old deck and built an addition to it. We had a rough plan going into it, but as I spoke with a variety of contractors, it was clear that Ralph could beat them in price and all he does is decks. He offered some ideas that modified our original plan and we went with one of those. All of his ideas kept in mind the budget. He and his boys came out and did the work during the most brutal part of the winter, which made the work go slower, but was easier on the yard and since it was off season a bit cheaper. No issues or complaints at all with this company. I would highly recommend that you at least talk to and get a quote from Ralph as you search for a deck builder.

I contacted Deckmasters 10 years ago along with a handful of other companies when I decided to add a new deck to my new build house.I settled on Deckmasters after meeting Ralph the owner and feeling assured my new deck was going to be in good hands. The deck was completed within the time frame given by Ralph. The attention to detail and quality from Deckmasters during the build was outstanding. The results of my new built deck were so impressive my new neighbors also got Deckmasters to build their decks. This fall I really noticed ( and it probably started settling a few years ago) that three outer posts had settled by about 2 inches, a common occurrence with a deck built on a new build. I called Ralph and asked if he would come and take a look. I would at this point like to make clear that I do not see this settling as any fault of Deckmasters; in fact I think it's a testimony to Ralph's great work that it took such a long time to settle and even longer before I really noticed. Ralph came out shortly after I called him, and within an hour had the deck back in true. He also made some suggestions on venting the inner part of the deck to reduce the interior moisture build up,and thus extend the life of the deck even further. After 10 years, and numerous compliments on the build and design of the deck I could not be happier. Great craftsmanship from a great craftsman. If you are looking for a deck builder who is cheap, quick, misses time lines and produces a deck which will need constant attention this is NOT your man. If you want a fair priced deck builder, who does what he says he will, and is a true gentleman, and a man of his word this is your man. I can't recommend Deckmasters enough for anyone wanting to build a deck...my Deckmaster built deck is 10 years young and still going strong.

This project was lighting fast and smooth from start to finish. Ralph and his team were professional, punctual, and responsive. They had a portfolio of past projects to help generate ideas and align on the design. They turned the quote around in less than 48 hours and started the project within the week. They even ended the project a day ahead of schedule! Ralph and his team showed up at 8:00 am and worked a full day each day with a short lunch break. They pretty much left me alone and did their job - which I really appreciate because I am a busy professional. This was by far the easiest project I ever did and the deck turned out beautiful. They far exceeded my expectations in every way. This is an A+ company and I wish I could give them an A+ (versus just an A) on Angie's list.

From start to finish it was a great experience. We have never had anything built before and they fit exactly what we were looking for in our other bidders. Price was, Deckmasters was much cheaper per square foot. Design wise, they are very informative and offer sketches custom design for your yard and wishes. We initially had 2 sketches, loved them both - so he combined the two into our idea of the perfect deck. Ultimately, the whole project turned out better than we had even hoped for and would most certainly recommend them.

Ralph and his team really delivered on this project! The work was done in a few phases. THE QUOTE PROCESS: I just had a new patio poured and I wanted a really nice looking pergola. Ralph arrived at my home at the time he promised to give me a quote of the work. He took measurements, and then took the time to discuss some options with me. He let me look through a picture book of his past projects, explaining what features I might consider for my project. He also explained the steps of the process and what his team would do to build the structure. He then sent me a quote by email. After I made a decision of what I wanted to do, I called him and he put me on the schedule. FYI, I had to wait several weeks before he could do the work. THE BUILD PROCESS: Ralph and his team arrived as scheduled. Before the team unloaded the trucks, Ralph took the time to introduce me to the team. All the guys were extremely polite and professional. My project took three days, and each day as work finished, they cleaned up the site and left my backyard clutter free. Everyone that worked on the project was meticulous about their work. By the time the project was complete, there wasn't one flaw in the work! THE FOLLOW UP: After the project was done and the job site cleaned up, Ralph checked in with me to see if I was satisfied. He asked for feedback about the work that was done and about the performance of his team. He also assured me that if I found something that I wasn't happy with, he would send one of his team to take care of it. I was extremely happy with the entire process.

When I contacted Ralph Ford, owner of DeckMasters, to quote on repairing my aging deck, he was punctual and identified what needed to be done. He said the 6" posts and structure appeared to be solid, with the exception of some settling where the deck connected to the house and elsewhere. He was quick to quote a price and even offered an alternate plank pattern with a photo from a previous job. This inspired me to come up with another pattern which Ralph said he could do and quoted what it would take to lay the planks in this pattern. Contacting Ralph by email prior to the job was a bit difficult because he is on all job sites every day. But he answered his cell phone and returned my calls whenever he could, even on Saturdays and Sundays. When my job started, it took one guy a whole day to remove the existing planks, bench and hand rails. It wasn't because he was slow, it was because the deck had been well constructed. Over the next three days a crew of 2-3 guys did the job to perfection. Ralph gave instructions to the crew at the start of each day, usually before 8am. He would show up during the construction to supervise and to answer any of my questions. The job took 4 days to complete. The crew was tidy and professional. Clean-up following completion was efficient. Everything was done to my satisfaction. In fact, the old saying "set expectations low, then exceed them" fits perfectly! The job exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend DeckMasters to anyone needing a new deck or changes to an existing one.

Never heard from him again.

I can't say enough good things about Deckmasters. The owner, Mr. Ford, was extremely professional and polite. He made us feel at ease and it was important to him that we were kept informed. He was out here every day to check on the progress of his crew. His main carpenter was very professional as well and made sure that the job site was cleaned up every day. I would certainly recommend them to anyone needing this type of project.

I've read the other review where Ralph explains that he lost his notebook. That would have been fine, if he had let me know. I had requested a quote from Ralph last spring, he sent 3 really good designs, but a deck became not a possibility last spring. I asked Ralph back out this spring. I only asked Ralph because his designs are great and I knew he could build me the deck that I was looking for. Things went well for the first visit but after that I never heard from him. I emailed him a few days after he had committed to giving me designs and an estimate and he responded that he would have it by the next evening. The next day came and went, so did the next week, no response. I emailed him again and told him his service were no longer required. I now know that he lost his designs, and I can't fault a man for that. Accidents happen. However, my review is based solely on he never responded to my final few emails. He didn't tell me there was a problem so all I knew was he just didn't want to respond to me. This doesn't seem like a sound business model to me. If something gets in the way of a promised deadline, I fully expect to be informed of it. Being ignored is not the right way. He may have lost the notebook, but he didn't lose his email. I was scared that if something went wrong during the build and I needed to get in contact with Ralph that he would vanish again and that's not a risk I'm willing to take with this much money invested. Ralphs plans were great, I believe he has really nice concepts, but I felt put off by being ignored.

Great initial experience with Ralph Ford - left me feeling with a great deal of confidence that I had the right guy. Despite all the positive reviews (which was why I selected Deckmasters), my experience was unfortunately different. While Ralph showed up when he promised, I never received a quote and left a subsequent voicemail which was never returned. Have let several weeks pass before providing a rating as understand the deck builders are in their heavy season many have difficulty keeping up with their customers. However, I ultimately did get responses from all others (update: 1 other did not reply but that was evidently due to an email failure on their side). Update: after providing the initial negative review above, Ralph Ford personally called an apologized for losing my paperwork and not returning the call. He owned the mistake, which doesn't happen often enough. I've updated the review due to the great job of recovering. He has already sent an updated quote and am in the process of reviewing. If I end up working with him, I will update this review after the work is complete.
