+ -1 moreAbout a year and half ago, I had a big tree cut down in my front yard. When this was done, there was a lot of debris left in one corner of the gutter, thus stopping it up and rain from the roof didn't have anywhere to go but over the edge of the gutters near the place where my window well was located. I called Jeff and he came over and found out what the problem was. He cleaned out the gutter and removed 3" of top soil and replaced it with pea gravel and installed a window well cover so this will never occur in the future. He did an excellent job. As always, I call Jeff when anything goes wrong in my house! He's awesome!
Description of Work: Fixed my window well so water couldn't get into it and fill up and get into my basement.

Description of Work: I have used Jeff several times this Spring and several times in the past also. He is top notch in whatever he does for me. He will even make trips to the hardware store or stop at Lowes or Home Depot and pick things up that I need before he comes over to make the repairs. He always does outstanding work! I even purchased a ceiling fan from one of the local hardware/lumber stores and had their people install it. I asked Jeff to come out and re-do their work because they completely botched the job and the fan didn't work. He notices things I don't and brings them to my attention so they don't cause me problems later. I show him things I think are problems and he will fix them the most economic way (not taking the most expensive way like some contractors will do). I find Jeff to be so trustworthy and I know when he tells me the way that something needs fixed that he is taking all measures into consideration. I have no problem giving him access to my home when I am not there. He's an awesome person. When it comes to fixing things around my house, I don't have to call around and it 3-4 quotes. I know he's not going to take advantage of me and I know he's not going to take the most expensive road either. He operates one good company and his morals and values keep his customers coming back to him.

+ 2 moreWe used Comprehensive Services for the past few years. He charges by the hour, and it is on a pro-rata basis. He is very dependable. His price is reasonable. If he can’t tackle something, he will try someway to tackle it. When we had a plumbing problem, and he recommended somebody that was also from Angie’s List, and that was taken care of. He will tackle a lot of little jobs that some people don’t, like the insulation in our basement that we have been thinking about for years and little things like that. He handled them. He is the first person we would call for any kind of work. If he cannot handle the work, he will usually recommend somebody. We’ve had absolutely no problems with him. He is easy to deal with. He is really a nice guy and he is so pleasant. He doesn’t waste a second of his time. If we have two jobs and we needed a part on one of them, I sometimes go out and get the part, but he will take on another job while he is waiting for that part. He is a like a good friend who is always there when I need a little help. I would rate him very highly.
Description of Work: We had an ice dam problem, and we used Comprehensive Services to repair the ice dam. He repaired the wall in the bathroom that had leaked, and he repainted parts of the whole thing. He helped me put up a bifold door that had fallen down.

+ 2 moreThe owner came out and inspected the home. He wrote down everything he saw that needed to be fixed. He got estimates of the needed materials and called me with his analysis. I agreed on what was needed right now and what could be fixed at a later date. We agreed on a price and he gave me a date and time when he would start the work. All through the fixing up process he kept in touch with me by phone. As he did the work he encountered some areas which he did not see at the inspection. These areas really needed to be fixed now so I asked him for a price to fix these areas. He was very fair in his pricing and I signed another agreement for this work also. He finished the work to my satisfaction and I paid him the agreed on price. I liked doing business with him and would certainly use him again.
Description of Work: I had work done on my son's home...mainly window sills and surrounding areas that were rotting out fixed.

+ 0 moreJeff made an appt with me to first clean the porch, let dry for a few days and come back and seal. Unfortunately, rain got in the way on the day he was supposed to come back but he kept in touch throughout and was able to come back the following day once the porch had time to dry again from the rain. He completed everything with excellent results and the estimate on cost was exactly what he charged. Jeff was a pleasure to deal with and I will be glad to call him for my future needs.
Description of Work: Jeff called me back immediately to schedule an appt to come out and see what I needed done. He showed up promptly and gave me estimate. I had him clean and seal wood trim on house and trim and paneling on front porch. Jeff also removed old caulk and recaulked windows to get them ready for winter. He also winterized my gas line to house and filled void and painted to match my house color.

I was not home at the time the service was provided, but everything was in good order when I came home to inspect the work. Jeff was very professional and courteous. His quote was very reasonable for the work performed. I was quite pleased and satisfied. I would use him again and would definitely recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Replaced outside window sills on second floor. Repaired the base of a porch pillar and replaced wood facing on a bay window.

Within a few days, I had an email estimate for the work that I needed him to do. He called to follow up, and set up a time to compete the work. He was very effecient and was finsihed in about 4-5 hours with everything. He was great.
Description of Work: Installed a new security light on the outside of my house, an access door on the wall in my laundry room, patched a hole in the conreate of the foundation of my house and cleaned the outside siding of the house that had mildew.

+ 0 moreThe seven-door replacement job remains uncompleted. To date, four doors have been hung. We will ask Jeff to hang the remaining doors for us after they are stained. (He will apply the polyurethane only.) Once again, the point we wish to make is this: Keep an eye on the estimate! Talk to him about any differences you see in the 'bill' he hands you and the original estimate.
Description of Work: Door replacement project. The scope of this job required replacement of seven pre-hung doors which would be both stained and sealed with a coat of polyurethane. The total estimate for this job was about $1900. I decided to start staining some of the doors myself over late Summer/early Fall, then called Jeff to start the installation process for us. At that time we had a total of four doors ready to be polyurethaned, then hung. Over the course of 2-3 days, Jeff was only able to hang two, at most three, of those doors. At Friday's end, I was handed a 'bill' for about half the total cost of the job estimate, yet there were four to five doors remaining to be stained, polyurethaned, then hung. Needless to say, I was shocked by that 'bill.' I then asked if I would see Jeff next week to complete the hanging of the first four doors. He told me no; that it would be February of 2011 before he would be able to return to complete this first phase of the job. My husband and I looked at the estimate he gave us six months' prior and decided to prorate the amount of the estimate by the actual work completed by Jeff. We thought this was just and fair! At first, Jeff didn't think so and he asked me that on the phone. I responded that I did, indeed, think that how we computed what we owed him was fair. The next time I saw him to complete the first phase of this project he told me that we were right and that he had been wrong. He apologized, and we accepted his apology. The remaining three doors of this seven-door project await their completion. Jeff does indeed do good work, and we would hire him again in the future for other jobs. This particular "experience" left something to be desired. Never have we experienced this with him before. My hope is that we will not in the future. The point I wish to make with this Angie's List entry is as follows: Keep an eye on your estimates! If you're not going to watch your money, who is?

Description of Work: I used the services of Comprehensive Services. I had him in the past but I have not used him recently. The last time I used his services was probably last year.
