Great experience. Called in around noon due to a smoking water heater. They originally thought they could be here the next morning. Angie in the office called back a few minutes later and said she moved around some schedules and someone would be here by 5. Jason arrived at 3 and by 4 had removed my old water heater and had a new one installed.

The plumber arrived on time on one of the snow-drifted days of 2014. He was able to get to the pipe from the garage and did not have to break through a hall wall. He checked for leaks and was efficient and friendly.

I found this company on Angie's List and I am so thankful I did! We have a family lake house we were having some trouble with and I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to find a good plumber in such a remote area but with the help of Angie's List I found Carter's My Plumber. I honestly couldn't be more happy with the overall experience. They were quick with responses, did wonderful work, reasonably priced, and to top it off sent us a hand-written thank you note with a small token of gratitude (gift card) when it was all said and done. You never WANT a plumber but you seem to always NEED one- these are your guys!

Our primary sump pump had stopped working and we were running off the back up. While we were replacing the pump, we noticed that the pit was filling not from the drain pipes feeding into the pit, but from cracks in the sump liner. We called Carter's at 9:30 pm. We were told how to rig a temporary pit using a 5 gallon bucket and our back up pump. The next day, the plumber showed up to fix our pit. He told us that we really didn't need a new pit and helped us fix the problem. The cost was minimal. This plumber could have come out when we originally called and charged us huge after hours rates and then try to sell us something that we didn't need, but he was honest and saved us a lot of headache, trouble, and money. They did come prepared with the equipment to tear out our existing pit and we would not have been any wiser if they had gone ahead and done so needlessly. We appreciate their honesty and integrity.

Kevin showed up on time and got right to work. Kevin is very knowledgeable and he worked very quickly and neatly. He was careful not to make any messes. We got the new toilets put in and they are really great! Thanks Kevin for your excellent advice!! We have had Carter's out several times now for different things and trust them for all of our plumbing needs. Thank you Carter's!!
Description of Work: Had problems with all 3 toilets. Was plunging two of them on practically a daily basis. Two were also not flushing normally, filling up practically to the rim before going down. Kevin informed me that stronger flushing toilets were available, so we chose 3 to replace our old ones.

I woke up to find my water heater was leaking water all over the garage floor. I called around 9am and the woman who answered the phone at the office was pleasant and said she'd have someone out that afternoon. The technician came out and confirmed my suspicion that the water heater needed replaced. While he started removing the old unit, a new unit was delivered by another member of the company. The whole process took less than 90 minutes - all this on Christmas Eve. Everyone was professional and courteous and the price was reasonable. I will definitely use them again.

Our toilet cracked/broke about 2:00 AM Sunday morning and sprayed water everywhere when flushed. This company said they offered 24 hour emergency service so I called. Kevin answered the phone and said he had a toilet on his truck and could be here about 6:00 AM and replace the toilet. He called back in about a half hour and said the toilet he had on his truck was not complete. He stated it would be about 1:00 PM before he could get someone to open up the store and get what he needed and he would call me as soon as he had what he needed. I never heard from him again!! I had another plumber replace the toilet Monday. I would have understood if Kevin had told me he could not do anything until Monday but he said he would get it done and did not do what he said he would do, which for me, was the worst thing he could have done!!

We are so sorry about this review. Our plumber didn't have the exact part on his truck, however, he was dressed and had his truck started at 2am to try to serve this customer. Unfortunately, he didn't have the necessary part on his truck and needed to wait until we could open the shop on Sunday. When he called the customer back they told him they already had another plumber. Kevin is very responsible, and it's his priority to make sure our customer's are satisfied. We get 100's of compliments on him, so we feel confident he would have taken care of this customer. We sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding.

I came home from work on a Wednesday night getting ready to head out of town on vacation Thursday-Friday, only to discover a slow leak on my 10-year-old water heater. I called Carter's My Plumber since they had previously done work for us on a remodel. I called the office first thing on Thursday morning and explained that I was heading out of town. I initially asked if I could just drain the water heater and turn of the water until we got back and wanted to arrange for a new water heater install on Saturday morning, but Jeff Carter (the actual owner, who answered my phone call) said that he could have someone at our house in 30 minutes, so I agreed to have someone come out that morning. The technician arrived promptly and reviewed the various replacement options. I opted for a 50-gallon replacement with a 10-year warranty that included all part and labor plus a service call each year for maintenance, which includes draining the water heater, which I've never bothered to do in the past even though I know it should be done. All told, the water heater was replaced in a little under an hour and we were able to depart for our vacation only one hour later than planned. Very happy overall and I'll definitely use them again for future plumbing work.

We had just experienced a great deal of snow (about 15 inches in some areas), which was melting fast. On top of that, we had rain for an entire weekend. I was on my way to check and make sure that the battery back up was charged and ready to go to prevent any basement flooding. When I came down, into the basement, the battery back up was beeping. I checked the cells, and everything was good, I heard the pump going, and checked the sump pit. Everything looked ok. The sump pit was a bit fuller than normal, but considering all of the water coming down into our drains, that made since. I reset the alarm, and went on about my day. A couple of hours later, I found myself needing to go back down to the basement to put some holiday decorations away. The battery backup was beeping again! I went and checked the battery, and now the display showed that the backup pump was engaged. I looked down in the sump pit, and it was even fuller than it had been a couple hours ago. Now, I was getting concerned. I am a data analyst for an insurance company. I will freely admit that if there's a person who knows nothing about plumbing, he more than likely knows more than me. So, when I saw the sump pit continue to fill with water, but yet heard the pump going, I was confused. The only thing I could think was that the outflow was clogged. At this point, it was pretty dark out, freezing, and of course, our outflow goes directly into a pond in just beyond our back yard fence. I'm not a fisherman, so I had no waders to get into the pond with. My wife and I fashioned some make-shift waders with garbage bags and duct tape. Yes -- this actually happened. So, I go out, into the pond -- which was less than comfortable, and find our outflow. There was a small trickle coming out. I reached into the outflow, hoping that I wouldn't find any dead animals that may have been trapped in there. All I found was grass. I reached in, and pulled out about a 2ft plug of grass clippings and dirt. Then the water started coming more steadily. Not gushing, but certainly more than it had been. I went back into the basement to see if we had any progress in the sump pit. We had some progress, but not nearly what I was expecting. Encouraged, but still concerned, I had resolved to call a plumber out during the weekend to take a look at what was happening. For now, the water was still receding. The next morning, I went and checked on the sump pump's progress, to find FLOODING!!! Granted, it was not much, it had only gotten as far as a couple of feet away from the sump it. But we had just finished the basement last year -- all was not good. We tried calling other companies in the area, such as ARS, or Dial One, but we were told that they would not be able to make it out that day. I had visions of bailing water all day until someone could come out -- then my father-in-law suggested Carter's. He had seen the truck around our area before. We called and was informed that they would have someone there soon. They couldn't give an exact window yet, because they had just opened and hadn't had a chance to speak with any of their plumbers.10 minutes later, we got a call from Jason (the plumber coming out to our house), who said he should be there in about 20 minutes. 15 minutes later, the doorbell rang, and there he was. I took Jason down to the basement where the sump pump was, and he immediately identified the problem. He informed me that the primary pump had died due to a failure in the float sensor. The pumping that we had heard the entire time was the back up (surprised me -- it was certainly loud enough to convince me it was the primary pump). I asked Jason if there was an issue with the back up pump, since it was clearly not keeping up. Jason was very patient in explaining to me how the sump pit is filled by perimeter drains that basically surround our house, and that sump pumps are generally purchased based on square footage of the house. The battery backup that I had purchased was the biggest that Home Depot had to offer, and he acknowledged that, but he also showed specifications on that model, illustrating that it was indeed not sufficient for the square footage of our house. Considering that it was slowly overtaken the previous night, but was still running, I had to admit, that made a lot of sense. Now, it was time to decide on a new sump pump. Carter's offers installation of 3 levels of sump pumps. Jason was very knowledgeable about each pump, allowing me to review each pump, while basically reciting the specs by memory. Jason explained that I could probably get away with the smallest level, provided we didn't have a deluge of rain, but recommended the next level up. Having seen a flooded basement before at an old girlfriend's house, I didn't really want to take any chances. The next level up in sump pumps was almost double the cost, however, the level up from that was only a couple hundred more than the mid-level. I was ready to seriously just get the highest level based on the price difference, just to have the peace of mind that all would be well. Jason talked me down from that, and again, explained how everything worked with sump pumps, and their relation to square footage vs. gallons pumped per minute. This was a plumber trying to save me money?!?!? After several more minutes of Jason very patiently, and politely answering my questions and concerns, I decided to go with the mid level sump pump. The actual installation took about 10 - 15 minutes, and Jason even took my old sump pump to dispose of. When the work is done, Jason asked if I was happy with the battery backup, and I stated that I thought it was better than nothing, but if there's something that could keep up better, than I would definitely be looking into it. He advised that his company installs them, and they were pricey -- even by his own admission and said that if we wanted to upgrade the back up, to call Carter's and if we wanted, we could even ask for him by name. I think he said it would have been around $2,000 (YIKES) installed. Then he said that the price was more for the control panel than the battery. The battery is maintenance free and good for about 5 years, as opposed to my 2-3 year battery, which requires monthly refills of distilled water. The control panel also gives specifics as to what's happening, as opposed to 4 or 5 LED lights that have a vague definition next to them and this battery is good for 180 hours of continual pumping, as opposed to my battery's 7.5 hours. I told Jason that I am definitely interested in a system like that, but again, he advised that I not order it right then and there -- stating that the new pump is handling things well, and the current backup is still good, as long as we don't have massive amounts of drainage, like we had the past few days at that time -- which is rather rare. Jason said he would place the order if we wanted, but said if you can budget for it, his company definitely promotes that (saving me money again!) When we were going over the paperwork, and making payment arrangements, Jason took his time, and made sure I understood what I was signing my name on. While I was re-reading everything, 2 things happened. First, he got a phone call from another customer, and advised that he was in the area and could meet with the customer for a consultation -- free of charge. No consultation fee?? I've never heard of that with a plumbing company! Second, I was looking over the statement, and found that I was given a first time customer discount of 10% -- saving me about $100! In addition to that discount, the service fee (what all these company charge just for coming out) was waived! I honestly didn't know or ask if that was also a first time customer thing. But even if it wasn't -- I saw that the normal amount was $60.00. Considering ARS and Dial 1 charge around $90 just to grace us with their presence, I made sure to remember that little detail. I was given a comment card, and gave Jason and Carter's a glowing review, and then a couple of days later, I received a thank you card in the mail, hand written, thanking me for my business and mentioning Jason by name. Also signed by the and quot; The Cartersand quot; -- obviously, inferring ownership of the company. I will definitely use Carter's again, and recommend them to anyone who asks, and probably many others who don't. Additionally, I've added them to my speed dial list on my house phone and cell phone. I could not be happier!!!
Description of Work: Our sump pump was replaced, and we also had a consultation over our battery backup sump pump.

The plumber was extremely nice, very professional, and obviously knew his stuff. We will always call Carter's My Plumber from now on. Very pleased with the whole experience. We feel we've finally found a plumber who is honest and knows his profession!
Description of Work: We had two previous plumbers out to our house and had asked them to diagnose and eliminate a kitchen sink odor. Ben Franklin Plumbing put in a very expensive disposal. Odor still existed. Plumbing Paramedics said everyone's noses and sense of smell are different and no diagnosis was made. We saw a $50 off coupon on the front of Indianapolis Star so decided to call Carter's My Plumber. Carter's My Plumber came out and diagnosed the problem in 30 seconds. He replaced the studor mechanical vent and odor is gone! He also replaced basket strainer and fixed the pipe under the sink that Ben Franklin had left in a "going uphill" position. Now everything flows downhill and properly.

This situation was a nightmare. It started when I heard water running but couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I turned off the water inside the house but could still hear it. So the water had to be turned off at the main valve because I was losing a huge amount of water. I contacted the first plumber who showed up late and gave me a cost estimate around $6,000. So I contacted a second plumber who couldn't make it to my house for a couple days. When they did show up, they said they couldn't help me because it was going to be too big of a project and they didn't have the proper equipment. I contacted a third plumber who showed up the next day. But, like the previous plumber, cancelled because they didn't have the proper equipment needed to fix the issue. At this point, I was getting desperate. I hadn't had running water in my house for several days. To make matters worse, we had a horrible ice storm during this time so the ground was completely frozen and the roads were mainly closed. I got the name of this plumber (Carter's My Plumber) from Angie's List. They had to dig two large holes in my yard to get to the pipes and ultimately had to bore an entirely new water line to my house to fix the problem (all in the middle of an ice storm). But they finished the project within a day. They were friendly and professional. And they did a good job describing what needed to be done. My only and quot;complaintand quot; would be that they didn't grade the ground where they dug the holes so I had to manually shovel the dirt back into place by hand in the Spring. I was never really able to get it level after that. It would have been very helpful if they could have done that with the heavy equipment they had on site at the time of the repair. But that was really a minor issue. I would definitely use them again.

Scott did a wonderful job. There were some problems with clearance with the drain/stopper mechanism on the faucets that we supplied and the granite back splashes that caused some unexpected difficulties with the hookups, but Scott made some adjustments that allowed them to be properly installed. He was very understanding and helpful. We would not hesitate to use Carter's My Plumber for all our plumbing need

I called Carters my plumber on a Thursday and they performed the work the next day. I had an estimate from a different company to replace the water heater in the near future while they were installing my water softener. The tank started leaking and the other company could not come out until Monday, so I decided to use Carters. Carters did price match the quote I had from the other company. I was satisfied with the work and would use them again.
Description of Work: Replaced old water heater located in the basement with a new 50 gallon Bradford White gas power vent.
