He decided to buy it himself and then paid me $200 on the $1000 we agreed to. I have it all in writing and copies of receipts and texts. He told me I could take him to small claims court but he'd never pay me. I had cancer when he decided to default on the deal. Who steals from a person with cancer. Only a dishonest jerk does that.

This guy is about the most dishonest person I have encounter. After he lied to me for about the fourth time he lied to me I confronted him. He completely disassembled the engine left it in a box and sprayed it with hardening foam which ruined it. I can't wait to see how he explains this in court. Btw, if you search around you will see many reviews where he talked very poorly to people and doesn't see like he has fixed a lot based on the reviews I found. Wish I had looked at these prior to using him.

I spoke with David for the first time via text on 10/8/18 inquiring about him looking at my boat trailer for no brake lights. He confirmed that he did do this type of work and that I could drop the boat/trailer by anytime that next week for him to look over. I responded to him that I did not feel comfortable driving the boat since it had no lights and I'd prefer to work with someone who could come to my home and look over the trailer. He replied 2 more times telling me to bring it by, also letting me know he could not come work on the trailer at my home due to insurance liability restrictions. I responded "ok, no problem". He then proceeded to say "I would be happy to pull it for you to my shop if that helps?" I replied "Just depends on cost. I was hoping to find someone who can just come here and work on it." He responded "No charge on the pick up if you are close by", I let him know I lived in Greenwood and he responded with "Yea, that's fine I can pick it up Friday." I was leaving Friday for Fall Break and told him I would not be reachable until my return on 10/21/18. He texted me on 10/20/18 letting me know that his recommendation was to install and rewire the entire trailer, reusing the light assemblies if they are still good, strip out existing old wiring, install new wiring harness inside the frame connecting lights with heat shrink and waterproof connectors, service bearings on the twin axle and adjust air pressure, install trailer guides for $971.00. I felt this estimate was high, especially when I priced out the wiring harness, and trailer guides, plus spoke to a few other FB friends who also do work on trailers. I told him I preferred to wait until spring to complete any work, thanked him for his time and asked to reimburse him for his time/gas since he was nice enough to pick up the trailer for me. He offered to just do the wiring without the trailer guides for $563.00 if that would help, I still declined and at this point his whole demeanor changed. He instructed me that he would now have to charge me $100 charge for pick up and delivery X 2, but if I decided to proceed with the work he'd waive this fee. Or if I used him next season he'd credit me back half. I read through our text. messages again, and asked him why he did not disclose this fee up front? That I had specifically stated that him picking it up depended on the charge, and he had proceeded to say it was no charge. He then gave me his home address, and said I could come pick it up myself for $100.00. I asked him why it was not located at his shop address on his business card, which was in Greenwood, but instead was at his personal home in Decatur Twp. He was defensive, stating he had his shop at home and there would be NO charges incurred IF he did the work. He was sorry I DID NOT ASK because he would have told me up front, plus he was waiving the diagnostic fee even though that was not a fee he ever mentioned either(mind you, he's the business and I'm the consumer). He reiterates over and over that he's not going to argue with me, that no one works for free and if they do they are fools. That is what's wrong with the world, everyone wants something for nothing. He went so far as to say that he does not worry about positive word of mouth or referrals, I asked him to please disclose any fees up front to any future consumers, because it could put someone in a very bad spot if they incur charges they had no idea about. He then told me that someone less fortunate wouldn't be able to afford a boat, let alone put it in the water much less have someone repair the boat or trailer should something arise. This made me feel like he was just charging me because he felt I had the disposable income, even though he knows HE DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY FEES OF ANY KIND! He would not let me stop by during normal shop hours, gave very limited times I could pick it up because he wanted to be there when I did. He messaged me alerting me that as of 11/3 he'd begin charging me storage $25/day and would then move it to his Greenwood storage facility which would incur more charges. I finally was able to pick my property up on 11/7. He would not take any form of payment besides cash or if I wanted to use a credit card he'd charge me the 4% fee. No PayPal, cash app, Zelle, checks, etc...his way, no negotiations. He can run HIS business any way he wants. He had his wife walk out with him, I paid her and got a receipt for his estimate and charges for pick up/delivery. He moved his vehicle from in front of my boat and watched me hook up the boat by myself with no offer of help, a hello, good bye, nothing. Not that I expect him to do anything for free at this point, but just seeing another human struggling I don't care who I am, or what I'm doing I will help if I can. I am a huge supporter of small business and referrals are the life line of my small business. From the moment I was not going to use David or his business he became very argumentative, irate at times via text. I can't share those here, or I would just so consumers can see how he thinks customers should be spoken too; and how he does not disclose any fees up front. Consumer beware if using this company. Be sure to get everything in writing, know all possible hidden fees before leaving your property with him, or having him pick it up. I'm sure he's much nicer to customers who do use his service, but if you opt not too just watch out, and expect a bill!!
Description of Work: I was in need of electrical work to be completed on my boat trailer. The brake lights were not working. I prefer to work off of referrals or with small local business, so posted on FB. A family member I was mutual friends with referred me to David Jackson and Bluegrass.

I contacted this company to repair my mower. The agreement was he would pick up my mower (free of charge) and price parts (pull strings, AWD cable, and change the oil). We agreed he would price parts and call before doing any work. After 2 weeks and no communication I contacted the business and asked for an update. He had forgotten who I was, so I had to remind him what work was requested and what mower was mine. He later sent a text saying the work would cost 300-400$. We agreed it was not worth the cost to repair, so I asked if he could return it and I would pay for him to return it. Please keep in mind this was after being told it is free pickup and delivery, which he states on his FB Page. He proceeded to tell me it was 105$ for pickup and diagnostics. After questioning him, he recanted and said it was 70 for pick up and 35 for delivery, never mentioning diagnostics. This is a post on his FaceBook page; Bobby D. I do offer pick up and delivery service, free if inside Greenwood or close by to my shop. Please text me as I don’t get notifications on Facebook as quickly. 317-828-7532 Thanks Dave/Bluegrass Information can be provided showing free estimates as well.

Paid over $300 only to argue with the owner and never get my snowblower fixed. It still has the same leak problem that it had when I called. Save yourself your time, effort, and money and go elsewhere.

I took a Ryobi weed eater to Bluegrass, as it had quit running. Mr. Jackson said it needed a carburetor. In checking back, Jackson stated that he could not find a used carburetor, or it would be too expensive, therefore he couldn't fix it. He charged me $20, but kept the weed eater. I left a gas blower with Bluegrass at a later date. It ran, but was hard to start. Upon return, Jackson did not show me the blower, but met me in his driveway and said the blower could not be repaired. I got the opinion he would have charged me again for teardown/inspection had I taken the blower back. Once again, he kept the item. The above instances did not represent good business practice on the part of Bluegrass. PLEASE DO NOT SHOW THE ABOVE COMMENTS ON LINE, AS I AM AFRAID THERE MAY BE SOME RETRIBUTION ON THE PART OF BLUEGRASS, AS I DID NOT HAVE A GOOD FEELING AFTER DEALING WITH HIM TWICE. I FELT A LITTLE THREATENED .
Description of Work: Said he would repair 2 blower/trimmers. He wound up keeping both and charging me $20 for the first. The date entered above is an estimate as it has been so long.

Response from Bluegrass Small Engine Service
As I tell all my customers, there is no charge if I can't fix the equipment or they do not wish to pay for the repairs needed. While I do not remember the exact details for Mrs. Wilson's equipment problems, all of my customer are given the option to take their equipment back with them on a "as is" basis with no charges incurred. I take pride in my services and wish to be fair and honest with all of my customers. "Their is no sense in putting money into something that can be purchased new at a cheaper cost" has and always will be my business model.

They were unable to fix the lawn mower. He was very personable and very willing to help but I don't think he was as knowledgeable as he should have been. It ended up taking longer than he originally said it would take and I am still having the same problem with the mower. He had also broken a bolt on the handle and fixed that at no charge. He did change the oil and sharpened the blades. The price was fair for what he did do.

[member name removed] I wanted to apologize to you, I am truly sorry that you were unsatified with the workmanship. The bolt that was broken was due to the fact that when you dropped off the mower, the mower handle tightener had fell off in back of your car. After completing the work, I realized that it was missing and tried to reuse a bolt that I had on hand. When you arrived to pick up the mower, that's when you told me that the handle tightener had fell off in your car. If I had the tightener, then the bolt wouldn't have broken, and there wouldn't have been any delay whatsoever. For your trouble, I would like to offer you a free oil change redeemable anytime in the future. Best regards David Jackson
