Custom Exteriors

My experience with Custom Exteriors was nothing short of dreadful. Our sales rep Kyle came out sat at our kitchen table and gave us an estimate to completely reside our house, pre-painted James Hardi board and batten, new soffits, gutter boards and gutters. We received 3 other quotes and even though their quote was the more by $5000 we went with them because we thought we could trust them to complete high quality work with a high quality product in a timely manner. We based this off the reviews online and word of mouth from people in our community. Materials were dropped off the second week of January and work commenced. The crew that showed up to our house and noticed they didn’t drive customer exteriors trucks but wore their apparel. We later we found out that they don’t actually work for them but were sub contractors, we weren’t made aware of this till after the fact. When your trusting someone with your home you expect a modicum of transparency. I wanted Custom exteriors to work on my house not some random siding crew. After work was completed per our foreman we walked through the project and what was on our house looked like used siding installed by people who either weren’t skilled enough to complete the task or didn’t care enough to take the time to do it right. The large pre-painted panels had large sections of paint scraped off due to mishandling of materials, over 90% of the house still needed caulked in, areas above windows and doors that appeared no one knew how to use a tape measure, square or cut in a straight line. The crew came back out to fix the issues but only corrected a few things. We then walked through the project with Kyle and Tom. This is where Kyle blamed our product choice of the pre-painted Hardi as the cause of all our issues, not the fact that the installers dragged the panels off the pile damaging finished surfaces or marking up panels with pencil and not cleaning it off. I feel it’s worth noting that we paid an extra $10,000 for pre-painted so we didn’t have to paint the house. After the 4th time of guys coming out to work on our house to “fix” the issues we contacted our foreman and requested the owner to look at the house. Matt came out to look at the house and by the initial tone of the conversation it was evident that he had been told our concerns weren’t valid. After the walk through and seeing all the issues he had a different view and asked for the opportunity to make it right. I will hand it to Matt. He did come and spend a few weeks out personally working on the house to correct the issues that hadn't been resolved, but it did take FOUR separate times over 3 and a half MONTHS of crews stating the job was done to get there. Unfortunately after a few hard rains we did find that we had two windows upstairs leaking due to the first installer's. The window trim was holding water to the house and not allowing it to shed. We fortunately had opened up one wall already to fix issues from old windows, but in our freshly redone nursery the damage was done. We had to remove all the completed trim, bead board, and drywall under the window and found mold had already formed. I never asked for a discount for all this trouble or the damage caused but honestly held out hope they might as a goodwill gesture. When Kyle brought our final invoice it was for the full amount, when questioned he was surprised that we would ask for a discount…..He then went on to state that they lost money on the job due to all the extra man hours they had to put in to fix all the issues. Then went on again blaming our product choice and not the hacks your company allowed to work on my house who caused all the issues in the first place. When you trust someone with your home and a lot of money you expect it to be right the first time or at least the second…..not the 5th.

Great company. Ron, our installer, did an excellent job. We used this company 11 years ago for a new roof and thought highly of them back then. Decided to us them again for this new door. Same high standards as last time. Every employee we encountered was really helpful and just genuinely a good person: Ashley, Allison, Matt, Mark, and Ron. Love the new door. This company really takes care of you.

Very Well, was done several years ago land they followed up in 2116 per their warranty, They cleaned some of the valleys where debris had accumulated.

We have worked with Jesse several times over the years. Jesse was quick to visit our home and provide an estimate. He was thorough and explained everything that we asked. He was prompt to get the requested work done. The quality of the work was very good and the price was fair.

I have been a general contractor and construction manager (for a living) for 25+ years working with many contractors and suppliers large and small between GA and CA on a wide variety of projects. Custom is smaller and family owned business but are very focused and a top notch contractor. Their PM, Jesse was very responsive and his team did great work at my personal residence. I have since used them to make repairs on my rental properties. They know how to provide value to their customers....highly recommended.

the salesman was on time and very professional. he provided a quote with options. Their price was about $3500 higher than the contractor we went with.

The contact person was Jeremy Schwedler. His response was prompt and calls and emails were returned almost immediately. Jeremy was forthcoming with all our questions and explained and wrote out in detail all the repairs they would do. We wanted a 50-yr. roof, and he gave us addresses so that we could see what various shingles looked like on other houses. Jesse took care to understand exactly what we wanted and delivered it when promised. He worked well with the insurance company and let us know up front what the cost for upgrades with the ridge and soffit vents would be. The work was done in a single day--not easy with 50-yr. shingles--and clean-up was thorough. All the workers were courteous and professional. Because the homes in our entire neighborhood and beyond were damaged by a hailstorm, the timeframe took longer; but they finished the roof in October when they said they would and arranged a time when the guttering and vents would be installed. Aside from a down payment, they did not ask for money when the roof was done. They did not bill us until the guttering and soffit vents were completed at the end of November. Jeremy has also followed up with calls to see if we are still satisfied with our roof. I called them once for a minor fix, and it was done the next day at no charge.

Workmanship was fine, just not the best at communication.

Great. Insurance covered most of costs except deductible and add ons. they were on time, cleaned up each night and when done. very professional. I had used them twice before on a prior home and liked their work.

The roof on my Mom's patio home received hail damage. Since she is 91, I always make the arrangements for repairs that need to be made at her home. I called Custom Exteriors, because her neighbor recommended them and my Angie's List search showed that they had an overall A average. Jesse was most helpful from making the estimate to the follow-up after the roof was put on. He guided me in all the necessary steps. The guys who put the roof on were efficient and cleaned up well after the work was done. Several weeks ago Mom noticed evidence of a leak in her TV room. I called Custom Exteriors to let them know that we had some leakage. They were very prompt in coming out, located an area on the roof that could be the culprit and treated that area. There have been several rains since the treatment, and there has been no leaking to date. We have been very pleased with their responsiveness and professionalism.

After a hail storm, they made repairs on the siding, roof, and they completed the wrapping around the windows. When there were a couple of glitches with the roofing, they were very responsive and came back out within a day or two. I have used their services about once a year over the past couple of years. Overall, they are very good.

The salesmancame out and gave me a price I was happy with. He said it would be 3 to 4 weeks to get to the job due to their work load. This was okay with me. After about 3 or 4 weeks I called to set a date. On the date it was raining and they called to give me a new date and time. On the day they did not show up on time and I called 1 hour later and was told there had been a misunderstanding about the time and that the worker would be there in a few minutes and he was. He did a good job, was friendly, knew what he was doing.

They have don a lot of work for use we and we recommend them to anyone

Mark Livesay came out to the house to provide a quote to replace the roof and perform siding repairs after our insurance money was, to put it frankly, STOLEN by Veteran Construction and Michael Friery. Mark was professional, accomodating, and understanding. Mark's quote was on par with other quotes I received for the work. Once the Home Improvement Fraud case against Veteran is settled, I plan on having Custom Exteriors peform the work. They did the roof on my next door neighbors home and it looks great.

We are very pleased with our result.

After signing the contract and paying almost 50% down, we had not heard from them for about a month regarding a final measurement before ordering the windows. Therefore, we called them to see what the holdup was. It took two calls before they called us back and When installing the new octagon window, because they had to patch drywall, they had to make several trips out to complete the job (which was normal). The return visits were several days apart and Matt, who scheduled the jobs did not always call back promptly to schedule the return visits. However, the final job is of high quality and they did not charge for some garage weather stripping that they installed, in order to compensate us for the delay in getting the job started on the front end. Overall, on this job, as well as others they have performed for us in the past, Custom Exteriors has always treated us fairly and performed high quality work.

The salesman met with me to go over what I wanted and to show me the products that would be used and to answer any questions I had. The salesman was my contact during the project, he was friendly and professional whenever I communicated with him and addressed any concerns I had immediately both during and after the job was done. Once I signed the contract and paid half up front the work began and was done in about two weeks including the insulation and gutters. The shingles used were CertainTeed brand blended color shingles with a lifetime warranty. They also used these shingles on my shed which was included in this project. The insulation was a blown in insulation and they were able to insulate all attic areas of my 115 year old house. Finally, the gutters were installed which was done in just one day. Over all the project went quickly and just as described to me. I am happy with the results and my house looks great with the new roof and gutters, and the insulation has already saved me money on my energy bills! Great company to work with.

The job went very well. The workers were very maticulous and the job turned out perfectly with no imperfections that I could find. They performed the job within a reasonable amount of time and cleaned up after themselves.

There not enough good things I can say about my experience with Custom Interior. They were very quick to respond to my needs. All their employees were neat and very competent. All work was none promptly and in professional manner

I have a unique style home with a round roof. They were the only one's who said they could do it. They were excellent and timely. They started the job and worked it through to completion. They have a competent crew. The owner always came and checked on the work. He came back after the work was done to check on things. We still get calls from him for a follow up. Their prices are high but they're very good.

Wind blew some shingles off the house. Called Custom Exteriors and Matt called back and stopped to give estimate the same day. His roofing man showed 9am next morning and fixed the issue and I can't even see where the repair was done..it blends right into the rest of the roof. Work was way up top of steep section of two story house. Price seemed reasonable for work done and promptness of service.
