Description of Work: Our septic tank pump went out, and Cecil's responded right away. They had to order the pump, so they pumped out the tank to avoid any chance of it overflowing before the new pump came in. The job was completed ahead of schedule and at the price they quoted. Two thumbs up!

They were called out for a clogged drain in the kitchen sink. He ask if I had been hearing gurgling lately, which meant septic was full. It had been since before 2008 since it was pumped so it could be full. His son came out and pumped the tank and said it was a small tank to have it pumped every 2 years. He had me flush the toilet to see if the line was cleared. The line was clear but the sink was still clogged. I paid him $300 to pump out the septic tank. So his father showed a few hours later to snake the drain. Both sinks were full of water, he laid out a tarp on the floor and took the drain apart. The pipe broke and water was shooting onto the kitchen floor, my sister ask to put a rag around it so it would go in the bucket. He then brought in this big drain snake on a dolly. he layed on the kitchen floor and tryed to snake the drain, after 2 1/2 hours he said i would need to have a plumber come and replace the pipe. He thought he had snaked a good 50 feet but felt like it was going into the vent up on the roof. He didnt have the part to fix the broken drain, I should have it fixed while the plumber was here replacing the pipes. He gave me a couple of names and charged me $250. My complaint is why did it take 2 1/2 hours to figure out he couldn't do the job. After the first hour he should have realized and been done. Is it ethical to charge someone $550 to unclog a drain, and not perform the service. and why would I need to pump it every 2 years if it had lasted 7+ years and no problem. Aren't septic systems set up to degrade naturally?

Since our toilet was unusable, the owner himself agreed to come out and evaluate ASAP. He did show up when he promised with equipment to snake out the line from the tank to distribution box, and I did appreciate his quick response. However, he had no helpers with him. Right off the bat, before even attempting to clear the line, he began pushing for me to sign up for a septic field restoration using the and quot;Terra Liftand quot; system at a cost of $3500. I wanted to first try opening the line between the septic tank and the distribution box, but he kept pushing the expensive Terra Lift treatment. When I had previously dug up the distribution box in the septic field and lifted the lid to inspect it, there was water in the box, but it was not overflowing. On the other hand, sewage was boiling up out of the top of the septic tank, which was several feet ABOVE the level of the distribution box. It doesn't take much thought to realize the line between the tank and the distribution box HAD to have been blocked. Even so, he kept pushing the septic field Terra Lift treatment, dismissing the possibility the main problem lay in a blocked connecting pipe. He even declared to me the pipe had to be open or there wouldn't be water in the distribution box, even though water was gushing out of the top of the septic tank, several feet above the level of the box. I reminded him several times in the course of five minutes, and quot;Water seeks its own level!and quot; Eventually, he had to admit the line from tank to field did indeed need attention, and if the snake couldn't clear it and he had to replace it, that alone would cost $2500. With that, he got his shovel out of the truck to dig down to gain access to the pipe so he could run the snake through. After half a dozen shovelfuls, breathing heavily, he declared it was too cold and windy, and he would have to come back another day! I did feel sorry for his discomfort, as it was a cold, windy day. Still, I have to question why he didn't bring a helper with him to do the work I had asked be done. It appeared to me he came out primarily with the intent of selling a septic field Terra Lift treatment and wasn't prepared to really do anything that day to try to fix the obvious problem with the line.. Giving up on digging, he agreed to come back out when the weather moderated a bit. However, having lost confidence in his competency, I called another service provider, who replaced the clogged line with new at a cost $500 less than Cecils had quoted. The line replacement indeed fixed the problem, and now, four months later, our system is still functioning perfectly.
Description of Work: Pumped septic tank, twice within a one month period. Since pumping the tank obviously did not correct the real problem, I dug up the distribution box myself and found the Line from tank to the field was apparently blocked. I called back for further evaluation and corrective action. (The $6000 cost of service listed above was the price quoted for proposed work, which was never done.)

It was great to find Cecil's Septic and become more knowledgable about the Terralift Soil Restoration process. It saved a lot of time and money and did the job that we needed done. The home is involved in a real estate sale and the closing was dependent on the septic being able to pass the inspection and the buyer accepting the work that was performed. Everything worked just as Cecil's Septic told us it would.
Description of Work: The septic system was diagnosed by two reputable companies as having failed. One estimate was for $15,000 to hook up to the existing sewer, but Cecil's Septic suggested a new procedure called Terralift. We had never heard of this, so we went to their website and watched the video. It was very informative and made us decide that it was worth a try. We had the work done and everything is now fine with the septic system.
