Description of Work: I called to set up appt. I was called back quickly and set up time. The day and time came, but he did not show up. I called to find out what was going on. He said he would come now and be here in 30 minutes. From what I understand he had called me early that morning to confirm the appt. I work nights so I was asleep when he called. I had gotten up specifically for the appt. and was not happy about having to wait extra time. I would have preferred he confirm the day before. |When Mr. Lampos arrived he handed me a brochure and introduced himself. I had prepared a detailed list of the work I wanted preformed. Mostly consisted of drywall finishing, painted, hanging new closet doors, and base board instillation. We toured the house. Mr. Lampos didn't take any measurements at all. When I asked him why not he stated he would look the job over first and give me a figure. If I was ok with ballpark number then he would come back and measure to prepare a hard bit figure. |We chit chatted a little bit and he told me he would call me with numbers soon. I never heard from him again. I never called him back myself because it is my philosophy if he doesn't want to work I'm not going to chase him down.

+ 4 moreI called Lampos & Sons and left a detailed, but concise description of a small project requiring some interior carpentry, (with subsequent minor drywall repair, and painting touch-up). I requested that they kindly call me back EITHER WAY and let me know if my project was one that they'd be able to undertake. I explained that I wanted to patronize small local businesses whenever possible and that their Angie's List description seemed perfect for my needs. They did not even exercise the courtesy of returning my call … Ever. I ended up calling Mr. Handyman of Michigan City -- and could not have been more satisfied, from my first contact forward! They were courteous and enthusiastic and they completed the project in a tidy and timely manner. They are not inexpensive, but they are not "gougers" either. Their prices are fair and the quality of their work is outstanding. I will be using Mr. Handyman for the many jobs I have on my ongoing punch list as well as recommending Mr. Handyman to my pals without hesitation.
Description of Work: Hhhmmm … What did the provider do, you ask? Well, other than NOT RETURN MY CALL / LEAVE ME IN LIMBO --nothing.

+ -1 moreHad a leak in the ceiling - they came out discovered that the leak was coming from the roof vent covering the bath room stand pipe. They went to a supply store, purchased the vent covering, ran some water over the newly installed vent covering and that solved the problem. They also checked the rest of the roof to see if everything else was ok, as I requested, and it was. Finally, they returned the next day to check if the attic insulation needed replacing due to the water leakage, and it does not. There was no charge for that return trip, but I felt compelled to TIP them $40.00, that seemed to be the honest thing to do on my part.

+ 1 moreThey gave me an estimate on 10/02/2012: said they'd be here on 10/04/12 at 12:00 P.M. Returned on 10/03/12 with a written estimate of the cost, plus brought out samples of different colors of available vinly siding so I could choose the replaced color I wanted. Arrived on 10/04/12 at 11: 23 A.M. with the color of vinly siding I choosed, began work promptly at 12:00 P.M. Repaired the siding, caulked all opennings effected. Pressured wahsed the house, it looks almost like new. They noticed a strip of siding on my next door neigbor's house was loose, so they repaired it for FREE! - my neighor has had that strip of siding repaired at least on five (5) different occasions, bet that will never need further repairs. These two(2) brothers, Levi and Elliott Lampos, are thorough, professional, conscientious, courteous and honest. It is refreshing to experience a working contract where the contractor was honest, hard working, did not try to cheat me, did not try to up-sale me, met all of my expectations, and re-affirmed my belief in that old American work ethos of " an honest day's pay for an honest days work".
Description of Work: Repaired 48' of vinyl siding, plus pressure wash a 2048 sq ft, single story, single family, residential, ranch house.
