HM Remodeling

I hired HM Remodeling to renovate two bathrooms (main and half bath) and have had a very positive experience with this company. I hated the thought of the whole process but realized the time was long overdue to redo my old and tired bathrooms. I called HM Remodeling, and Dave Sipps came to my home, took some pictures, made some suggestions and sent me an estimate the same day. It was a bit over the amount I had budgeted, so he tweaked it a bit to bring it in line. When I requested a formal proposal, I received it the following day, and after accepting the proposal, I met with Mel, the designer, who provided much needed guidance and expertise (since I had no idea what I wanted.) Mel even accompanied us to the flooring store to assist with the selection. Once we selected what we wanted, we were given a start date. The day the project was scheduled, I looked out my front window to see four HM Remodeling vehicles in front of my house. The entire team assembled to review the scope of the project and receive direction. The primary craftsmen who worked on my house were Jesse, Kionte and Ty. These guys were totally professional. They were on the job every day at 8:00, took a short morning break, a twenty minute lunch and worked through until at least 4:00. At the end of each day (after they cleaned ) they showed me what they had done and told me what they planned to do the next day. They paid close attention to detail-even asking me how high I wanted to the towel bars or how wide I wanted the grout line on the floor.) They even reinstalled a toilet every night. I also want to note that Dave (the owner) stopped by several times during the nine days it took to complete the project to check on progress. This project was not without challenges. The discovery of dangerous wiring behind the walls and in the ceiling, moving water lines, replacing walls and old plumbing, the addition of a fan with unique venting requirements are a few among many. Never once did I hear anyone voice frustration, and when I asked Jessie about it, his response was that one of the things he enjoyed about remodeling was that there were always challenges that needed to be addressed. Great answer and attitude. The workmanship is superb, and as a of a total team effort, I am beyond pleased with the end result.

I had my master bath redone. Ceramic tile to the ceiling on all three walls of the shower with new base and door. Ceramic tile on the whole floor including the walk in closet and linen closet. There was some extra plumbing done as well. I couldn't be happier with the result. In my opinion HM remodeling does superior work and I will definitly hire them for my next project.

Excellent. HM Remodeling completed our project on time and on budget. Workmanship was very good. HM Remodeling is a very professional and reliable organization.

This was a free-formed space that required Brian to analyze and create a proper structure for joists and posts that would permit setting of the railings so that what was set at the ground level matched what was set on the second floor balcony deck. He need to create a seamless transition from the deck to the wheel chair ramp that he designed and built as well as from the ramp land onto the sidewalk that runs along the driveway. They surrounded the deck with a skirt that should keep most of the critters our. The craftsmanship matched every expectation, the structure is rock solid, and the symmetry equals all of my expectations. If not for the weather that posed a couple of delays this would have been completed in maybe 8 days vs. the 2 weeks. The cost was more than $10,000.00.

We were contacted quickly and appointment was scheduled within 72 hours for an estimate. Owner came to our home, stayed for roughly 10 minutes, took measurements and left without discussing pricing. Emailed the following morning with the falling statement, "t was nice meeting you both yesterday. I believe the best approach with your project is to treat this as time and material, mean we will bill you for the actual work done (removing the floor/trim, install flooring and install trim or install flooring and install trim) – whatever you decide to have us do. I will have two technicians onsite and bill $75 per hour for each technician, estimated time would be 2 to 3 days and I would place a NTE (Not to Exceed) cost of $3000 for the project. Please let me if you have any questions. Thanks David." I called for further explanation expecting a per square foot rate and was told by David that they will not give per sq foot pricing. Every other floor installation company that we have spoken with have offered this information.

I would like to highly recommend them. They were very punctual and professional. I would normally like to do this work myself and I'm glad I decided on Mr Handyman instead. It looks much better than what I would have done and it took them only five days with all that work and ceramic tile being done.

As I said, I didn't hire them. For what they charge, I'm sure they do great work. But I found subcontractors who did perfect work for much less (though I will say that they were great in recommending that we get a different company to do seamless gutters for us, because they didn't have that equipment).

I recommend them highly. They were quick with a quote and with the start of the project. They were punctual. professional and did a great job!! They were a breath of fresh air from the other contractors who didn't show up for appointments, and didn't return calls. I would use them again.

I have used this company in the past and recommended them to my son. My son had some work done and the quality was excellent. There were a couple of issues regarding length of time with the job thus affecting the estimate but the owner himself came out and worked with my son. I cannot express how refreshing and rewarding it was to see a company that truly cares about the product/service they provide and CUSTOMER SERVICE. They have a client for life.

The project was started on 10/7/13, Dave (owner) came out and introduced me to both of his workers. He explained the project in detail, had them put up plastic sheets in the adjoining doorway outside the bathroom to minimize the dust. He also had them cover and protect the floors leading from the bathroom to the front door leading outside. These were always cleaned and removed at the end of each day and put down again the following day. Both workers were very professional throughout the remodel. This bathroom is in a much older home (approx 1948). It must have been given a slight facelift some time in the 60's so it was in desperate need of some serious work. The walls had old yellow tile going about halfway up the wall. These were all removed and floated, then painted. They turned out very nice. The corner of this bathroom had a old built in shower, I cannot begin to tell you how bad of shape it was in. This was gutted along with the plumbing all the way down to the wall studs. Once the old shower was removed we noticed there was some water damage to the floor surrounding the shower pan. Up until that point we were going to just make some surface repair to the existing tile floor and lay down a new vinyl floor. Dave came back in to take a look at the floor and reevaluate the plan. He told me that he wanted to make sure things were done the right way and that consisted of tearing the remaining floor out, replacing the damaged wood, then installing a new sub-floor to bring it back to it's original height. He was absolutely right. Not only did the floor turn out beautiful but it also created a good solid foundation for the new shower unit, new toilet and new sink. It's a shame that I cannot post before and after pictures because the transformation was incredible. This was a project that I had been planning for several years. It was worth the wait, Dave and his crew did not disappoint.

Fantastic! First, let me say that from the moment David Sipp, (franchise owner) walked in my door and put "booties" on I was impressed. Everyone I met and who did work for us were always polite, professional and conscientious. We struggled with having every room painted and the bath remodeled since we had just moved in, were trying to get acclimated and also manage two small dogs (who could have easily gotten stepped on or loose, as workers were in and out constantly for almost 2 weeks) We tried to keep them out of everyone's way, that being said, all the technicians were kind and careful with and around our dogs, this helped us relax a little bit as you can imagine this was a very stressful time for us. I also appreciated the attitude of the workers in general, everyday they started on time with a "happy to be here" smile on their faces and the attitude continued all day, everyday until the work was completed. They stayed on the job everyday, different people doing different things, but we were always told who would be there each day and what they planned on accomplishing that day. I was asked about certain things as well as offered creative suggestions, as in the case of the tile work in the bathroom and fixing the crown molding. They could just as easily proceeded with the project as planned but instead felt confident enough with their abilities and working relationship with the company owner to offer suggestions. As far as pricing goes, I saw comments on Angie's list about the pricing being high and was a little concerned. But I have to say, once I understood how charges were figured and saw how hard the guys worked (I never saw anyone sitting around or hardly taking a break all day) and the quality of the work, I felt that I paid a fair price for the great job I got. I also have to say that the technicians all seemed to do little extra things that went beyond what you would ever expect. Some offering suggestions, everyone making very little mess but still cleaning up everyday, others fixing little things they found here and there. (but of course if we added projects we knew we would be adding to the total cost) However, I have to call out one tech in particular, Ty (which I may have misspelled) but he went above and beyond, not just once but everyday with this particular situation being exemplary. There was alot of trash on trash day and several bags which were heavy with mudding/grout material from the tile work, one of the trash collectors dropped a bag and white dried mudding/grout material went all over, causing a real mess and they just left the mess. I was so upset, getting a dust pan and broom but by the time I got out there to clean it up Ty had it almost completely cleaned up. We didn't even have a hose but he carried two 5 gallon buckets of water out to the end of the driveway to try to wash it down better. So, all I have to say is WOW, who does this?! And thank you again, Ty! We are enjoying our freshly painted new home and beautiful bathroom very much, and want to thank everyone who worked for us. We look forward to a continued relationship with Mr. Handyman as we will have them do everything for us from now on.

I thought he did a good job. I think he brought a lot of different options to us that we didn't think about before but one thing I would have focused on more was a little bit of giving us examples of how good he was at his job. He did a good job kind of telling us what he was going to do and he's been giving us ideas and everything but at the end of the day, it was kind of we didn't know what his work was like before. There was nothing bad.

ONe man came when he said he would and another came to discuss the job and move the furniture. ONe man took down the ceiling.....and cleaned up. It took about 2 hours.

David returned my initial phone call very quickly, I received my estimate just a couple of days later and he was able to start the job within a week. His quotes were less than the others and was able to start much quicker as well. They were punctual,tidy and finished when they said they would. They did an excellent job and I would definitely use them again.
