Our granite contractor arranged for the meet which was our first interaction with Bruce. They arrived at the time agreed upon and set quickly to evaluate the necessary work. This was on a Friday and the work was scheduled to be done the following Wednesday. In my own opinion, this was going to be a tough job, but when I asked Bruce if he thought he could do it his reply was: ?You won?t want to put granite over it when I?m done?. I wasn?t disappointed. He promised to call Tuesday evening prior, to make sure we were still available and ready to proceed. Tuesday came and the call came through as promised. He said he had to drop the little one off at school, but would arrive about 09:00 the next morning. He arrived at the time he stated and quickly set to work hanging the wire lathe. His lone break was taken at noon at which time he went to get some more materials. Work proceeded through the afternoon and well into the evening. Upon completion, his promise held true: the surface looked so good you didn?t want to cover it up with the granite, but we will. :) It?s important to note that a job like this can be quite messy and it was. However, Bruce took the time to protect furniture and fixtures as well as clean up, both inside and out. If you are looking for a true craftsman, one that takes pride in and enjoys their work, works hard (12 hours with only a single break) and gets the job done, this is the guy for you. The quality of work will not disappoint.
Description of Work: We are re-facing the fireplace in our living room, which consisted of field stone that was painted over by the previous owner. After the stone had been removed we were left with the structure brick/block work that was substantially out of plumb. Our granite contractor suggested we contract with Flynn Ceramic Tile to bring the surface into plumb. This would involve attaching lathe to the existing surfaces and applying subsequent layers of mortar to the low areas working up to the level of several screed strips, which would set the face of the entire surface. The project was complicated by the fact that there are two large openings in the surface; that of the fire box itself and an additional wood store area to the right of that.
