The drawer had a broken wooden guide which was jammed in the track on the bottom of the drawer. Eric removed the broken guide without damaging the drawer. He then produced a replacement guide which fits perfectly. The entire process took about 20 minutes and we now have a functional drawer again. We could not be more pleased with the result and the cost was very reasonable.

I had just built and finished a headboard, but when the customer placed it in the intended bedroom, it was thought to be too red. As such I brought it to the Village Stripper and received excellent service and an excellent job, I also had a chance to discuss various sandpapers, when to use them as well as excellent advise on stains and finishes. Eric you do a great job!!

Work was excellent. This vendor is extremely busy and has an immense workload. He is also an expert craftsman/artist. Be prepared for an excellent job but you would likely have to wait a while, due to backlog of work. This vendor put my small job in front of several others, but it still took over a week. So for his sake, be prepared to be patient and understanding of the time factor. Otherwise beautiful work.

Eric and his staff repaired and refinished an antique parlor table that I inherited from my great-grandmother's home. I brought the piece in after a long period of storage in my aunt's basement; it was pretty abused and one of the legs had fallen off or been knocked off. Eric stripped the piece, repaired the damaged leg and strengthened all the other joints, stained and sealed it, and cleaned and repainted the decorative feet on the legs. Everyone I dealt with in the shop was very courteous and professional throughout the process. It did take longer than I had anticipated, but this was largely my fault as we didn't settle on a firm completion date when I dropped the piece off. I always received a quick and courteous callback when I asked for updates and I certainly would rather have the job done right than done quickly. The finished piece is absolutely beautiful and I could not be happier with how it turned out. I'd definitely take future projects here and would highly recommend Eric and his team.

Eric discussed what could be done to restore the chest, as well as possible colors, finishes, etc. He called us to come look at it mid-point so we could see the progress and consult on the finishing touches. It took several weeks and was costly, but it was done by the date predicted and for the estimated price. For the quality and quantity of work done, all was more than fair. It is obvious they spent a lot of time and care on the details, and Eric enjoyed the challenges of redoing this piece and making it into something we can use and cherish for a long time to come.

Went well overall. Took a while but considering the care he took in repairing damage and refinishing the table, I am very satisfied. I have an antique table that will rival a new one in quality and looks. Don't expect a and quot;hurry-upand quot; job as the thoroughness which the Stripper did the work more than made up for the lingth of time it took. I was in no hurry anyway. Good Job!
Description of Work: Took quite awhile to get a table refinished but considering all he did and the outcome, it was well worth it. I had an antique drop leaf table that had several dings in it plus a leg came off in a move. The Stripper fixed all the dings, repaired the leg, and did a wonderful job of refinishing it. He even hand carved a missing piece that I had not noticed but he did and replaced it. The finish is beautiful. I am very well pleased with the outcome and the job he did.

He glued down all the loose pieces and screwed and tightened everything. He also did it quickly because his shop has lots of dust floating around and didn't want the chair in there for long enough to get coated. We are so pleased with the result and can well imagine taking the other pub chair (its twin) in at some point to get the same thing done
Description of Work: We have a wood pub chair, fairly new (5 yrs old) that is part of a set. It had become wobbly over time and could not be firmed up by tightening any visible screws. We took it in to Village Stripper Smith the same day we called. He took one look, gave us a quote and teh chair was done in 3 business days! He glued down all the loose pieces and screwed and tightened everything. He also did it quickly because his shop has lots of dust floating around and didn't want the chair in there for long enough to get coated. We are so pleased with the result and can well imagine taking the other pub chair (its twin) in at some point to get the same thing done.

They've been really easy to work with. The experience has been great. They listen to what I want, they listen to when I need it, and they give me an estimate. So far, everything I have ever gotten from them, they have held exactly to that estimate. They usually provide a range of prices, and this last time it was close to the higher end of the range, but he provided numerous other services above and beyond what we had discussed but kept to the same price range.

Brought Eric my grandfather's spinet desk from the 1920s to restore--was in rough shape after having been used by my sister in high school in the 70s (nail polish spills; boyfriends' names scratched into the writing service) and then was stored disassembled for over 30 years. Had to replace all hardware and have another person duplicate a missing desk drawer, which Eric then finished by perfectly replicating the intricate molding from the original. Eric and his wife helped me locate new drawer pulls and casters suitable for the age of the desk while they worked hard at undoing the damage to the piece itself. The transformation is amazing and I hope to be able to attach the pictures to show it. Eric ended up redoing the finish on his own because he felt it could look better, and I'm so pleased with the result! Both Eric and his wife were a pleasure to work with and I look forward to having an opportunity to work with them again.

Very well -- Village Stripper picked up the items promptly and completed the work in about two weeks and delivered the items in time for the Christmas holiday. We appreciate the fact that Village Stripped was working a lot of hours to finish our furniture as well as others before Christmas -- they delivered our items about 9:30 PM one evening.
Description of Work: Refinished two dining room table tops -- these table tops had been damaged a couple of years ago when we moved and had been refinished by another company. That refinishing job by the other company was terrible -- moisture and heat repeatedly damaged the finish. We asked Village Stripper to refinish with a better and more durable finish. Also had a chair that needed to be re-caned.

The owner picked up the chair and another piece from my home in early August. I had a chance to chose my preferred stain after the piece had been stripped. An old leather seat was removed and the owner's wife re-caned the seat to its original appearance. The result is gorgeous! That chair hasn't look as good since it was new in the 1890s. I picked the chair up myself from the shop, since it was a small item. I would happily patronize them for further projects.op

Wonderful!!!! This is the second and quot;bigand quot; job Eric has done for us. Last year he stripped and stained an antique bedroom suite, it is absolutely beautiful!!! Smooth to the touch, better than brand new, he re-glued drawers, put new and quot;buttonsand quot; and totally rehabbed the set. Loved the stain choice he applied. This time we had the game table, chairs, end table, and sofa table from our sunroom stripped (very light/knotty pine type wood) he stained it black, sanded the edges here and there - gorgeous!!! We feel like we have brand new furniture - totally changed the and quot;lookand quot;. Now for the best part - I decided on a Monday that I and quot;neededand quot; this furniture done by Wed/Thursday the following week. We were hosting 75 people for a party. Without hesitation Eric said, and quot;I can do that.and quot; AND he did!!!! I know it put him in the shop late and he had a lot of other orders to take care of but and quot;serviceand quot; is tops with Eric. Will definitely use again, in fact I'm headed that way today to drop off a couple of and quot;youthand quot; chairs I've had that need stripped, sanded, glued, stained. You can not go wrong using this company!

We chose the Village Strippersmith based on his price, Angie's List reviews, and the fact that he said he could complete the work quickly. We pulled all of the trim off the walls and my husband dropped everything off at his shop. When I had called to ask him if he was interested in the work, I explained that the trim was more than 100 years old and obviously had many layers of paint on it and that it was safe to assume lead paint on the bottom. Eric was still willing to quote me over the phone at $2/ilnear foot to strip the boards and he could do the work in a week or two. That sounded like a fantastic deal, so we were eager to take it. He got started right away and called me to say that he would likely not be able to get all of the lead paint off to the point where the door would be suitable for staining. I knew this was a possibility and was not upset about it, and agreed to pay him about $6/foot to spray the door with latex paint. A month later, we still didn't have our door and trim, and we needed it in order to complete our bathroom remodel. When we called, Eric complained that the job was much bigger than anticipated, and we really had to stay on him to get the work done. Finally, we called him to say that we were coming to pick up the pieces whether they were finished or not. We planned to pay him for the work completed and paint ourselves if we needed to do so. When my husband showed up, everything was done, but Eric complained to me that he had pulled an all-nighter to complete the work. I didn't feel bad about this given that he had our pieces for more than a month. I think it would have been a better practice for him to look at the pieces before giving me a price quote. I would have understood why he would want to do that. Complaints about business practices aside, he did great work at a great price. The paint is very smooth and even, and the trim looks as good as 105-year-old trim can look. I feel good about keeping as much of our old house intact as possible. I would hire Eric again, but not if I was in a hurry.
Description of Work: Stripped, sanded, and repainted 105-year-old bathroom door, door trim, and window trim that was coated in many layers of paint, including several layers of lead paint.

I called the Village StripperSmith to refinish a dining room table and 6 chairs. Eric came to our house, disassembled the table and took the seats off the chairs and took them back to the shop. Once they were stripped, he called us to come to the shop to determine what color stain we wanted. I highly recommend a visit to the shop. It was so fun to see all the pieces in process and waiting to be started. Once we selected the stain, it took about 10 days to finish. Eric brought the tabletop and the seats back to our house and re-assembled everything. He was so personable and likable. We really enjoyed visiting with him while he worked. The table and the chairs turned out beautifully. I was hoping to pay around $500 for the job when I first thought about having the work done, but the total came in at. $675, which is slightly less than what he quoted me over the phone. But given that we did not have to do any of the work of disassembly or transporting the furniture to the Village StripperSmith Shop, I'm very pleased with the whole experience.

Dropped off a dresser @ Village Strippersmith to be refinished. It was fairly hideous, as someone had tried their hand at antiquing it. Picked it up today and it looks brand new! Eric sanded off the old paint and stain; restained it; refinished the drawer interiors and polished the hardware. Wonderful job and fairly priced @ $375. Will definitely use this company again.
