Description of Work: I have tried numerous times to contact the company to discuss my window installation, but they have ignored my phone calls and letters, and never once responded. | |In brief, I signed a contract on May 24, 2014 for (13) Series 4000 windows with interior and custom exterior trim. On August 8, 2014 more than 2 months after signing the contract (and an absolute nightmare getting the installers to show up), the installer finally arrived two hours late and EVERY ONE OF THE WINDOWS WAS THE WRONG SIZE. After talking with a "manager", they forced in two windows because they broke the old ones taking them out. To get the windows to fit, they used crow bars to rip up the heading and the 2 x4 framing.Not only did they FORCE the two windows in, THEY ARE NOT CENTERED IN THE WINDOW OPENING, i.e., the windows are FLUSH with the inside wall leaving 4" of exposed sill on the exterior side in addition to the 5" of stone sill! They also did not install the customized exterior trim that I contracted for - the exterior is totally exposed. I made two (recorded) phone calls to the main office that day requesting Window World NOT TO REORDER THE WINDOWS UNTIL WE DISCUSSED THE ISSUE, but to please either return my call or phone my attorney to work out a solution. I sent certified letters to the address listed on Contractor's Way to the address on file with the BBB on St. Joe Center Road and also to the address on file with the BBB on St. Joe Center Road . Window World of Fort Wayne has ignored both the phone calls and the letters. I have had no contact from Mr. Jackson, the manager; nor Mr. Troutt, the owner, concerning this fiasco, and here it is October. | |I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, corporate Window World headquarters and the Indiana Attorney General's office against the Fort Wayne franchisee because of their lack of response to even discuss this issue, much less finding a solution. I am demanding a return of the remainder of my deposit and completion of the installation of the exterior trim as contracted. I have pictures to document but do not see a link to upload them here. |

They seemed very personable. They weren't pushy. They were always here when they said they're going to be.

+ 1 moreAppraisal went well enough and owner assured me he had over 30 years of experience and I would be satisfied. It took over 6 weeks to get order in for windows and doors before job started. Wasn't able to be present and had friend at home. Job scheduled for 2 days and preformed in 1. Unfortunately discovered haste of job led to poor installation. Windows were sloppily placed with one still showing a poorly shimmed bottom with bulge and all were splotched with sealant. All blinds were replaced backwards. Door had bizarre extra holes drilled and was cosmetically very unsatisfactory. Vinyl was half-width of vinyl on house and did not match well. Had called salesman to confirm before installation. Tools were left behind in flower bed. Wrapping of windows left ~1 inch unsealed gap around windows. After complaining to owner he refunded $200 toward dormer but stated strangely that the wrapping around the windows was "the industry standard". Owner cleaned up sealant. I fixed the blinds. Went to main company, Window World, and complained via their customer service, providing pictures via email to their representative. My concern was that their company was represented as a premium product and installation but their franchisee was not matching that assertion. They stated that the franchisee had "settled with me" and had denied the extra holes in my door jam were placed by them. Overall, I felt cheated and am hiring a local contractor to repair my windows.
Description of Work: Install "custom" door to garage, 5 windows, and cover dormer with vinyl siding.
